So, if Jesus is a "Mighty God", does that mean that he is a true god? If not, then what is the point. If he is a true god, then is there more than one God?

As a JW how would you answer this if someone brought it up in the ministry?
by NikL inas a jw i pretty much just went along with what was taught from the platform i didn't do any real bible study.
as a result, now that i am out of the org.
i find scriptures that blow my mind.. i am not sure how i would have reacted if someone had pointed this out to me when i was a jw but now i can't believe i've never noticed this before.

JW.ORG logica: I don't get it
by Gorbatchov ina dutch saying is "am i that smart or are you so stupid".. watching this jw.org movie about god's name made me use it: .
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njtimafdp7m.
jw broadcasting june 2015, 15 seconds cut.. geoffrey jackson is proud that jw.org is using god's name.. then he convinced that jw.org does not know exactly what god's name is.. then he convinced that jw.org uses the name jehovah because it's most common recognized in english.. is this reasonable, asks geoffrey... yes!

The most common Christian beliefs include an immortal soul and a literal Hell, why not use the same logic when it comes to doctrine??? -

Are you a Christian Who Accepts Evolution?
by cofty inif you identify as a christian but you have accepted that the diversity of life - including humans - resulted from a process of biological evolution could you add your name please?.
just to be clear i am referring to the fact that our physical lineage could literally be traced back all the way to non-human species.. if you like maybe you could comment on why you see not conflict between evolution and your christian faith.. there is a tendency to conflate evolution with atheism.
it would be good to show that this is not the case..

I've always wondered if Christians who accept evolution have considered at what point in the evolution process God decided that homo sapiens were human enough to deserve some kind of afterlife, or in the case of mainstream Christianity, when did homo sapiens acquire an "immortal soul". This and other contradictions that previous posters have pointed out highlight the cognitive dissonance involved with trying to accept both Christianity and reality.

The building in the foreground of the third picture from the bottom appears to be built in the shape of a Cross. When first looking at it, it looks like one building, but It may actually be two separate buildings connect at the top.

Why ex-JW's so knowledgeable when it comes to the Bible?
by James Mixon inover the years here on this site i have found over half of the folks can hold their own with any minister.. why when we leave the borg we become proficient on any subject on the bible.. why did we go down that road?
my intention was to get close to jehovah (searching the bible), but i. guess i found lucifer.
i'am ask all the time, how did you go from a true believer to calling the bible a book.

On another topic someone mention, JW's turn out more atheist than any other religion. Why?
I believe that this is probably true, even though I haven't seen any proof to support it.
I think there are two reasons for this. The first reason (that xjw's want to find the real truth and take an objective look at the evidence) has been mentioned several times.
The second reason is that Witnesses have already discarded several significant false beliefs/doctrines, so I believe that they are already well on their way to becoming Atheist .
- No Immortality of the soul
- No Trinity
- No literal Hell where sinners are tortured
It seems as if they just stop short of becoming Atheists and hold on to the few remaining beliefs/doctrines.

Does God judge people on their physical aspects?
by pseudoxristos inyears ago, i attempted to discuss this topic with jehovah's witnesses in another discussion group.
looking back on the discussion, i found that i was never able to really get to the bottom of the subject.
i've never really understood witnesses belief in the spiritual aspect of humans without some belief in a soul (or spirit).

Years ago, I attempted to discuss this topic with Jehovah's Witnesses in another Discussion Group. Looking back on the discussion, I found that I was never able to really get to the bottom of the subject.
I've never really understood Witnesses belief in the spiritual aspect of humans without some belief in a soul (or spirit). Since Witnesses do not believe that humans have a soul, then it stands to reason that they believe that we are simply physical beings. If this is the case, then God will ultimately judge humans on some physical aspect. This is pretty much equivalent to judging someone on their hair color.
The Witnesses belief that a persons "spirit" is simply their breath (which returns to God at death) is also confusing to me. I mean what is the point if there is no other significance to a persons spirit.

The worst gift of Christmas
by GrreatTeacher ineverybody gets one, the gift that stared up at you hopefully from its beautiful wrapping, and then, like a deflated balloon, delivers the worst gift ever.. i'm not talking about the gifts from small children like the "greatest aunt" coffee mug or the red and black lace folding fan.
surely you never would have chosen them for yourself, but it's the thought that counts from small people who love you.. then, there's the what the hell were they thinking gifts.
my mother-in-law has been giving these a lot lately.

When I was around 12 years old (in the 70's), my grandmother gave me "soap-on-a-rope". Needless to say, I was not thrilled.

New "most frustratingly addictive game ever" to play - agar.io
by Simon inone of my kids got me hooked on this.
it's incredibly simple but also kind of fun and addictive.. you start as a small cell and need to eat things to grow.
that's pretty much the game.. of course as you get bigger you can eat smaller cells too ... and bigger ones can eat you.. as you get bigger you get slower but you can "eject mass" to shrink and speed you up (w key).
