Advice is to Beat the kids......still!
by Gill inthis is the watchtower for april 1, 2006, page 9.. 'parents be a fine example for your children.'.
'....of course, children are children, and some are prone to be contrary, even wayward.
(genesis 8:21) what can parents do?

I've wondered about this.
We left in '99 when our daughter was just under 2. In the 6 years since it is fair to say that a new generation of parents have emerged in a world where smacking has been addressed and is becoming more and more culturally unacceptable and punishable although not totally eradicated.
We've all heard reports of a parent who smacks a child in public (doctors surgery, supermarket etc) being reported to the police, who are then forced to take action, with the ensuing court cases and debates on daytime TV and radio.
I was brought up as a JW and had my fairshare of smacks. I dont consider myself damaged or abused. It was just a different time. Things change and I would never dream of smacking my own kids.
No-one seems to be saying if they canfirm that smacking goes on now at KHs as a matter of course.

Is getting married in Church a DA'able offense? Ping anyone with BOE manual
by Abaddon inhaving been fairly proud of my jw parent's behaviour (and to be honest, my handling of them) in the 13 years or so since i walked away i now find myself in a quandry.
i basically arranged my departure from the cult in such a manner that i would neither be da'd or df'd, to avoid a situation where their family loyalty might be streached by their adherence to organsiational law.
why should i play by their rules and write a letter leaving an imaginary religion?

The rules are "there are no rules"
Contradictions and inconsistencies everywhere.
Beards, suits or jackets, pubs, concerts, skirts shallots(?) or trousers for women, hemlines, haircuts, white or coloured shirts, marrying unbelievers or non baptised, age for elder or mini servs, disfellowshipped relatives in bridal parties . . . . . ./

Noah dropped them off there before his navigational skills let him down and he got stuck on a hill.

Earlier in the thread someone said that 1 in 4 JW's in the US are in a spanish speaking cong.
Is this statistic verifiable?
Forgive my ignorance, but is that figure representative of the US population?

Which Church do I go to now?
by jwfacts ini personally feel no particular need for institutionalised religion, but recognise it is a benefit to many people.
however i am constantly asked, "where do i go to now?
what is the best answer to give someone?

I think that you'll find there's a big difference between a belief which is "unitarian" and the "Unitarian Church"
I checked out the "Unitarian Church" in my early days after leaving the JWs but it wasn't the direction I chose.
