my observation is that persons who 1) heal/adjust the most rapidly from their jw experience and 2) seem to have the most joy in life are those who read, read, read, in pursuit of what i call nourishment for the spirit.

i've really enjoy the pithy aphorisms you use here, which suggests you've distilled some wisdom from somewhere.

i'm going to ask your help in this thread.

Hi Joelbear.

That's the second time in two days I've seen someone mention Asimovs' Foundation Trilogy. I think the other was on your "Get a Life" thread.

I'm a big fan of all Asimovs scifi stuff. Both Foundation Trilogies are great, as well as his Robot detective novels.

I'm also into Frank Herberts "Dune" stuff. Again a first and second trilogy, although I definitely prefer the first three.

Arthur C Clarke is another favourite.

On a humourous note I love Terry Pratchet and his Discworld series.

Are JW's Christians. Will They Go To Heaven?

i know there is a huge gulf between the doctrines of the wtbts and the bible, many major doctrines minor beliefs all contradicting scripture but that being said can we say categorically that jw's are not true christians in the sense that their belief system is corrupt.

if they genuinely believe that they are footstep followers of christ and try to display the fruitages of the spirit then will they not equally qualify for everlasting life?

isn't god above orthodoxy and can he not forgive them individually especially since the society keeps the truth of the bible hidden from them?.

Is the society corrupt or mistaken?

so what do you all think , is the organistaion of jehovahs witnesses flawed due to corruption or just mistaken belief systems?.

i was thinking it could be a bit of both .. perhaps some people know what they are doing and others cant see the errors of there ways .. i though that maybee the governing body , do's , co's and elders are usally just following what they belive to be true.. but who is the society that is behind it all , who is it really run by .. each year when the members of the society hold their annual who attends and why.

is this metting all about finances or are other things discussed?.

The conclusion that I have reached in virtually every area of my study of JWs is that all the evidence shows that they clearly are not the "Exclusive Channel of God " that they claim to be.

Whether it be doctrinal, historical, policy related or the behaviour of certain members ie paedofiles, there are errors, mistakes, skeletons in cupboards etc.

To me this proves that the Watchtower is just like any other religion.
Some of it's adherents are Christian, some are not. Fortunately God judges us all as individuals and not because of the "badge" we wear.

If we aren't saved on an organisational basis then we cannot be condemned organisationally either.

If a JW is worshipping in spirit and truth, I believe that they are acceptable to God. The same would apply to persons of other denominations.

well the elders do not accept me.

i do not fit the mold and nor will i change too.

they asked for a book for me to see the questions answered for baptisim but they wouldn't give it to me because they have to decide if i can join???

The first time I went to the church that I now go to after 33 years a JW, all my life that was, I got up in the morning and suddenly thought how am I supposed to dress. So I phoned the vicar who was a bit surprised at the question. Then he said to me, "come however you want. If you want to wear your Sunday best you can, and there will be others dressed the same. But if you want to come in jeans and t-shirt you can, and there will be others dressed the same. After all God isn't interested in the bits of cloth that we wear, and you can't fool God by dressing up! So just come as you."

The reason English hooligans dont swarm to the US is because there are no flipping teams there and even if there were they wouldn't be in UeFa so we wouldn't play them.
