Candace Conti
by Pubsinger inso we know that wt settled out of court for an undisclosed sum and that presumably there was a 'gagging order' attached to the settlement.. not having really thought about what a 'confidentiality clause' meant before, i assumed in the past that it meant that you weren't allowed to disclose the amount of the settlement or any details about it.
but from the total and absolute silence once the settlement was made, i can only assume that it is a total gagging order.. how can the courts allow such a restriction to be put on a victim?
protecting the abusers and allowing the institution to cover up the lengths they go to to avoid admitting their guilt?

Please don't get me wrong! I am NOT criticising Candace Conti at all. She deserves everything she was paid by the WT and it still would not compensate for what she suffered.
I was just commenting on a system that allows an institution like WT to buy silence when compensating its own victim.

And that is my point WireRider.
The Courts must know why big institutions make these kind of settlements, so they could protect victims by warning these big boys that they will not allow them to bully and silence victims even in their settlements.

A gag order not a 'gagging order'?
Glad you cleared that one up!
Sorry for Conte instead of Conti.

So we know that WT settled out of court for an undisclosed sum and that presumably there was a 'gagging order' attached to the settlement.
Not having really thought about what a 'confidentiality clause' meant before, I assumed in the past that it meant that you weren't allowed to disclose the amount of the SETTLEMENT or any details about it. But from the total and absolute silence once the settlement was made, I can only assume that it is a TOTAL gagging order.
How can the Courts allow such a restriction to be put on a victim? Protecting the abusers and allowing the institution to cover up the lengths they go to to avoid admitting their guilt? Sure the amount maybe should stay confidential but someone like Candace Conti still has a story to tell and surely should not be suppressed like this by her abusers?

What other Shenanigans can we expect to see in the next 2 years?
by John Aquila inits been a little over 2 years since i left the watchtower.
in that time the magazines have been cut, the birth of jwtv, jw-org.
carts for preaching, removed district overseers, cut assemblies, demand all the money from the congregations, stop construction and layoff bethelites, change the format of the tmschool .

1914 is going to go.
And I predict something as crass as this: Although we cannot say for certain that 1914 was the EXACT time of Christ's invisible return, all the evidence from that time onwards and through the rest of the 20th Century tells us indisputably that he has invisibly returned and is reigning as King.

All these changes in the last five years are mindblowing
by truthseeker ini can't begin to count all the changes that have happened in the last five years.. i just read they're getting rid of the theocratic ministry school from cedar's blog.. i remember when they released the new theo school book back in 2001. how times have changed.. it's almost scary in a way what's happening.
there's barely any time to adapt to one change before another change comes along.. there's been more changes in the last five years than the previous 100 years.. i feel like there's some grand puppet master pulling his string.. what if the governing body are not really in charge but just give the impression they're in charge.
could there be someone else behind the scenes?.

Latest rumor - all WT construction "suspended", except for Warwick
by sir82 inheard 4th-hand, but from a full-on believer, so not likely to be an "apostate lie":.
apparently, at bethel's morning worship this morning, it was announced that all worldwide wts construction is "suspended" for an indefinite time, except for the new world headquarters at warwick.. also, the "relocation" of remote translating teams is also suspended.. finally, there will be a "worldwide" reduction in bethel personnel.. all this came to me in a non-english language, and,as noted, 4th-hand.
so it is possible something may have been lost in translation and/or in the multiple steps between bethel morning worship & me.. but if true, it would be quite stunning.

Is that 'all construction' in US or worldwide? What about the new Bethel being built in the UK?

Need Help with Blood Transfusion Illustration
by Dissonant15 inplease, who can provide an intelligent rebuttal to the following illustration?
i always thought it was bullet-proof:.
"if your doctor directs you to 'abstain from alcohol' would you be ok to have it injected into your veins rather than drink it?

How about:
So if that is how you feel, why do you think it is ok to accept blood fractions? If you can accept parts of blood, you are hardly abstaining.
