What checks and balances are there in place to keep a greedy GB member or someone higher up to just keep some of the money? Kind of like the story revealed last month of 2 nuns were found out of stealing over $500,000.00 from their church over a 10 year period and using the money to go on vacations to mostly casino lined cities.

Years ago I bought a cheap truck from an elder who said it ran great and was reliable transportation. I paid him cash and I got maybe 10 miles away and the engine blew. I never trusted another elder after that.

New World Translation Releases
by Wonderment inin the last few weeks, i have noticed in (jw.org) the nwt has had new releases in some local languages.. today, i read this: "the new world translation of the christian greek scriptures was released in the kabiye language on december 16, 2018, in kara, togo.
on the same day, in madrid, spain, the books of matthew and john from the new world translation were released in spanish sign language.
the new world translation has been translated in whole or in part into 178 languages.".

The Reasons for Cart Witnessing
by Simon inwhatever we think of it, you have to admit that it's quite "genius".. the door to door ministry as done in western developed countries where the jw quirky religion has probably reached their saturation level was a complete and utter waste of time in terms of the effort expended to recruit people.. at the same time, it was rarely something that anyone enjoyed which led to people being labelled as inactive, being pressured to doing more and maybe ultimately deciding jwism wasn't for them and leaving.. there was also the issue that many jws are actually pretty bad at knowing and articulating their beliefs so were pretty incapable of getting any meaningful message across.. they solved all this with the cart witnessing.
the real point isn't to recruit, it's to make life easier for jws.
now they can stand and chat with their friend, have a coffee, not talk to anyone or make eye contact and still act as a walking billboard for jw.org.

Maybe they should try this so they can show their "award winning" videos.
Didn't they use to walk around with billboards announcing that religion is a snare and a racquet? Now they themselves are the snare and a racquet. Personally when I see walking ads or a blow up doll whaling its arms wildly, I am not influenced in any way to approach that product, maybe backing away and avoiding the idea being promoted.
