I was at Wallkill back before Patterson went into operation and while it was still named Watchtower Farms. For the most part, I enjoyed it. Left for a woman. Was there for a little over a year. For me it was just business as usual there. Nothing weird, except for one thing: the department overseer was talking about the NWT and mentioned it had over 1000 errors in it, but to keep it confidential because people would go nuts if they found out. The context of the conversation was about the cross-references, but in retrospect, I suspect it was much more than that.

How many exBethelites?
by Christ Alone ini'd just like to see who here has served at bethel, including myself.
this may be useful for those that have specific questions about bethel, but don't know who of us actually served there.
could we hear from those that served at bethel and where you served?

WT Study Article for 12/9/2012
by RagingBull incannot wait to hear comments on this article "what kind of spirit do you show?".

I can see the analogy of elders being like doctors. James 5:14-17: "Is there anyone sick among YOU? Let him call the older men of the congregation to [him], and let them pray over him, greasing [him] with oil in the name of Jehovah. 15 And the prayer of faith will make the indisposed one well, and Jehovah will raise him up. Also, if he has committed sins, it will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore openly confess YOUR sins to one another and pray for one another, that YOU may get healed. A righteous man’s supplication, when it is at work, has much force."
I don't have a problem with the analogy of elders being like doctors. I only have a problem of them likening issues we have with elders to that of a patient getting treatment from a doctor they don't like.

Please find ONE SINGLE REFERENCE in the Bible prohibiting pre-marital sex. Looking through the Law given to Moses (Lev. 20 and Lev. 27) gives a few prohibitions, but thus far, I've not seen one reference in the Bible prohibiting pre-marital sex. There are references to keeping the marriage honorable, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's probiting sex before marriage.
Ah, nevermind... I forgot the Bible uses the word "fornication" as all encompassing sex outside of marriage. Ignore my blather.

"This could be likened to a patient who loses out on the benefits of a treatment becasue he does not like something about the doctor."
Ever hear of patient rights? A patient can go see another doctor. A JW can't go see another elder body. Not the same. Ludicrous analogy.

JW - Miami Bus Crash - Update Miami Herald - Wed 5 Dec. 2012
by RubaDub inalready late for work, but there is a leading article in todays miami herald (wed 5 dec 2012, english version) about the bus crash on saturday that killed 2 brothers and injurred about 25 others on their way to the west palm beach assembly.. much of the article focusses on the comments by one of the airport police who first arrived on the scene.
basically the two who died were side-by-side on the second row, crushed by the roof of the bus.
three others are still in critical condition.. sorry i have to run but someone can detail this later.. rub a dub.

That doctor looks awfully familiar to me. Did he appear in one of the no blood videos?

Thanks, Bobcat. I probably should have looked at commentaries and compared translations before jumping to conclusions. I would have answered my own question.

The last talk on the School this week was about Jehovah being the 'hearer of prayer.' One of the proof texts used was 1 John 5:14. "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us."
I am now in the habit of reading surrounding verses for context and found that this verse follows a discussion regarding having faith in the Son of God, and that God provided his Son as a witness. Immediately preceding verse 14, it is talking about putting faith in the name of the Son of God.
vs. 9-14:
9 If we receive the witness men give, the witness God gives is greater, because this is the witness God gives, the fact that he has borne witness concerning his Son. 10 The [person] putting his faith in the Son of God has the witness given in his own case. The [person] not having faith in God has made him a liar, because he has not put his faith in the witness given, which God as witness has given concerning his Son. 11 And this is the witness given, that God gave us everlasting life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that has the Son has this life; he that does not have the Son of God does not have this life.
13 I write YOU these things that YOU may know that YOU have life everlasting, YOU who put YOUR faith in the name of the Son of God. 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us.So, who is the "him", "his", and "he" talking about in verse 14? Jehovah or Jesus? By context, to me it seems like it's talking about the Son of God, not God.

Surprised you didn't catch this, Blondie...
Yesterday's WT study contains "old light". The footnote referenced the March 1, 2004 WT, which talks about the evil slave and that they were identified in 1914 when their expectations did not come about. I waited and waited for someone, anyone, to say that this was no longer the case since the slave was not identified until 1919. But, alas, no. Not a single peep.
Same with paragraph 12. The "new light" says the inspection hasn't happened yet. It's still future. Therefore, Jesus never came in 1919 to inspect. The whole paragraph is now "old light".

Do we have the right to criticize Jehovah's anointed ones?
by Christ Alone injehovah's witness.
no one must ever compromise any of the essential, life-saving truths from god, but to truly be part of the "one body" required of christians, everyone must compromise some personal beliefs, preferences, interpretations, etc.. the jewish christians in rome were commanded to give up the mosaic law.
this was a task that was most difficult for them.

IF the Watchtower Society today is guided by holy spirit and is truly God's organization on earth as it claims, then the governing body of that organization, even though composed of imperfect men from western countries only (so far) and based in far off New York, USA, has the right and the duty to make final decisions for all Christians worldwide.
The problem with this is that with the new light, published online for all to see at the official site, IF the GB is really the FDS, as they claim, then they do NOT have the right or duty to make final decisions for all Christians worldwide. Why not? According to new light, Jesus has NOT arrived and they have NOT been appointed over all his belongings yet. That's new light for you. What right do they have, then? Luke 12:41 says: "to keep giving them their measure of food supplies at the proper time". By scripture, then, they only have the right to give out food supplies. They don't even have the right to prepare the food, such as they do at meetings and assemblies. They only have the right to give out their measure of food supplies, very much like what Joseph did in Egypt when he was appointed over the grain for the years of famine.
The GB is taking what does not belong to them at this time.
