I think it's a prison sentence, yes. Speaking as a double-lifer, that is. And, I would say it causes a lot of health issues . . . not just mental. The stress alone of knowing TTATT and not being able to freely talk about it causes a lot more physical issues than I would have anticipated.

New Monthly Report Suggestion!
by The Searcher injust an idea for the weekly g.b.
conclave to consider - unless it's too christian for them to think about!.
paul wrote this to the "israel of god" - galatians 6:2 " go on carrying the burdens of one another, and in this way you will fulfill the law of the christ.".

I agree with the sentiments, but I would never agree to "report" my hours doing this., Continuing a little further in Galatians 6:
Go on carrying the burdens of one another, and in this way you will fulfill the law of the Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he is deceiving himself. 4 But let each one examine his own actions, and then he will have cause for rejoicing in regard to himself alone, and not in comparison with the other person. 5 For each one will carry his own load. - Gal 6:2-5
How about we remove hours, return visits and bible studies altogether from the report? If they want to know how many magazines, books, brochures, etc. are placed for the purpose of projecting printing amounts, fine. The rest of it is, quite frankly, not their business. That should be private.

At This Point In Time Would You Ever Subject Yourself To A Judicial Committee?
by minimus ini certainly wouldn't.
and if the elders wanted to have a meeting with me, i would respectfully decline.
if the elders wanted to deal with you, would you talk with them?.

I'm not sure. On one hand, I think so, just so they can show their true colors. On the other hand, what a waste of time.

No longer to use "house to house record" slips and "please follow up slips"!
by stuckinarut2 ina letter has just been read out indicating that effective immediately, witnesses are no longer to use the s-8 slip known as the "house to house" record slip, as well as the s-43 "please follow up" slip (usually used for foreign language people).. the letter stated that this is because of the changes in privacy laws etc that are becoming common in the world today.. i will try and get a copy of the full letter and post it asap.. .

This has not been announced in the U.S. as far as I can tell. In fact, at the service mtg this week, we were encouraged to use the "please follow up" slips when we meet foreign language people in the territory.

Jehovah's Trumpet - Dangers of Superstition
by cofty inthe latest blast of "jehovah's trumpet" warns us about the irrational nature of common superstitions.... the article then goes on to provide counsel on the dangers of the domonic attacks that often result from unwisely purchasing second-hand objects.
the risk is demonstrated by recounting the real-life story of poor sister lemming and her new ministry bag.. genius satire as always!
please take some time to read the community comments.. .

Either ROKU or Apple TV. Those are the two making the rounds locally. I keep telling them all that I flatly refuse to spend any money to watch those videos on my TV. If I want to, I'll just hook up an HDMI cable to my laptop and that costs me nothing. (Yeah, sure, like I really want to... LOL!)

Jehovah's Witness or Witness' or Witnesses or ...
by Bloody Hotdogs! inprobably a dumb question, but what is the proper way to write "...in jehovah's witness literature.
"...in jehovah's witness' literature.".
"...in the literature of jehovah's witnesses.".
-

"...in the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses." is an easier read.
"...in Jehovah's Witnesses' literature." is grammatically correct.
When it's a possessive involving something that ends in the letter "s", the apostrophe goes after the "s".
So, "Jesus' beard" is correct, while "Jesus's beard" is not.
"Jehovah's Witnesses" is the proper name, thus, the possessive would be "Jehovah's Witnesses' whatever".

Sister trying to convince me and herself
by NoMoreFear4Tracy inlong story short i was raised in this cult (but was never baptized) my mother is die hard jdub, i didnt take this "faith" seriously until i was 26, but i had always gone to meeting, was enrolled in the theocratic school and was mediocre in service.
at 26 i made the conscious decision to make this religion my own.
i red the bible cover to cover and used cross reference from the watchtower and other religious sites, with the end goal to get baptized.

Oddly enough, but not surprising, the ONE thing Christ said that would identify his disciples is NOT on this list.
By this all will know that you are my disciples—if you have love among yourselves. - John 13:35
In addition, Christ warned that there would be all sorts of people who would supposedly do stuff in his name. His reaction?
Why, then, do you call me ‘Lord! Lord!’ but do not do the things I say? - Luke 6:46
What things did Christ say to do BESIDES teaching others do observe his commandments?
How about this?
Eat his flesh and drink his blood (figuratively via partaking of the bread and the wine). See John 6 and notice the words, "unless" and "whoever". JW's do NOT do this because their leadership has told them that they are unworthy.
There's plenty more. Here's a nice, succinct list: http://iblp.org/questions/what-are-commands-christ
Something else to consider: The phrase "true religion" is not in the Bible (just like Trinity or Rapture). The concept of religion is. It's found here:
The form of worship that is clean and undefiled from the standpoint of our God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep oneself without spot from the world. - James 1:27
Do JWs have a program set up to look after orphans or widows? No? Why not?
I could go on, but I think I'll stop now.

You can't embed an image or file here, but you can link to it if it's somewhere else accessible. Some folks here use sendspace.com. Others use their Google Drive account and share the file, pasting the link here. Hope that helps. Looking forward to the rest of this.
