@88JM - weren't those the figures for the previous March, the first one with the 30 hour option? Seems about what I recall for that one. Thus far, none of have seen the figures for March, 2012 anywhere in print. Would be curious if the figures you have are for March, 2012 or 2011.

because you build the graves of the prophets and decorate the memorial tombs of the righteous ones, 30?and you say, if we were in the days of our forefathers, we would not be sharers with them in the blood of the prophets.

Was reading in Matthew today and came across this verse.
"Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU build the graves of the prophets and decorate the memorial tombs of the righteous ones, 30?and YOU say, ‘If we were in the days of our forefathers, we would not be sharers with them in the blood of the prophets.’ "
It struck me that the Society did this very same thing with Beth Sarim.
WTS only addresses verse 28 three times in all its publications. Once for the use of the term "hypocrites", once for some other thing discussing the Greek work kosmos, but only one time for the actual content of the verse.
w60 4/1 p.210 par. 17
"“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you build the graves of the prophets and decorate the memorial tombs of the righteous ones, and you say: ‘If we had been in the days of our forefathers, we would not have been sharers with them in the blood of the prophets.’” But it was these very hypocrites who killed the greatest prophet of all, Jesus Christ! They were glad to build tombs for the prophets and decorate them to draw attention to their own deeds of charity, but woe to the living prophet who would dare to expose their hypocrisy!—Matt. 23:29, 30."

In a conversation with my wife yesterday, I told her that I really, really hate going in field service and the only reason I do it is so I don't die at Armageddon. She was appalled. She said I should be doing it out of love for Jehovah, and that we should not be serving Jehovah just so we won't die. She asked me why I felt that way. I told her because the publications have emphasized the 'being in Jehovah's favor so we won't die at Armageddon' for years and years. She said she never got that impression.
Today's article:
" How will we fare when the King Jesus Christ comes to execute judgment at Armageddon? The cause in which he rides dictates that he will save only those who are humble and righteous. Our developing humility, then, is essential to our survival."

*** w10 4/1 p. 19 Is Jesus the Archangel Michael? ***
Jude verse 9 calls Michael “the archangel.” The prefix “arch” means “principal” or “chief,” and the word “archangel” is never used in the plural form in the Bible.
*** w91 2/1 p. 17 par. 9 Honor the Son, Jehovah’s Chief Agent ***
9 Jesus Christ further deserves honor because he is Jehovah’s chief angel, or archangel. On what basis do we reach that conclusion? Well, the prefix “arch,” meaning “chief” or “principal,” implies that there is only one archangel.
Jesus = Michael is one topic I've not yet researched. However, 1Thess 4:16 says: "because the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first.".
"An" archangel's voice, not "the" archangel's voice. This implies there are more than one archangel.
Just sayin'

Several Sites Are Down
by Juan Viejo2 inin case you have noticed, several websites that are managed and administered by me are down.
at this moment i do not know specifically why, but my hosting company (secureserver.net) tells me only that it is due to a "copyright infringement.
" i do not even know which of the 30 some sites might actually have the claimed infringement and so far all i've been told is that there is a claim and that i have to email a certain group and they will get back to me.. i have no idea when these sites will come back on line.

erm.... last time I checked, letters did not carry a copyright notice. How is that infringement?

Would I be the punching bag?
by NeverKnew inpoor cognac's challenge has me thinking.. as a non-jw, if i were to marry this jw, would the congregation attribute problems we would encounter to him being married to me?
i don't want to be a punching bag.
couples have challenges.

Yes, absolutely. One JW elder once told a sister who was married to a non-JW (both married before she converted) to treat him as if he had a terminal illness. How sick! He's a very nice person. I've known him for over 20 years.
From a practical standpoing, the WTS has some legitimate reasoning for why a marriage with the partners having different beliefs and/or different religions could be a real challenge. If you do a Google search for "marriage religion" you'll see many sites that discuss the difficulties of such a mixed marriage. Many of them, of course, offer advice as to how to make such marriages work.

They want it both ways
by jeremiah18:5-10 inseveral years ago the wts stopped announcing individuals who were df'd as, "so-and-so has been disfellowshipped" and instead began announcing, "so-and-so is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses".
this seems to be rather important to me.
undoubtedly this change was fueled by legal issues raised by someone who was df'd and impacted in some way perhaps financially.

BTW, this announcement is stated in the Organized to do Jehovah's Will book that all JWs have. The Shepherding book simply reiterates it.

I Think My Marriage Is Over...
by cognac ini know exactly what happened... he thinks i'm going to die at the big a and wants to be with someone he can live forever with.... we have two girls, ages 3 and 1... i really thought we'd make it despite the religion, now i really don't think so... not sure what to do... .

I'm not really happy in this marriage, but, I don't want to break up the family either...
It's better to break it up when the children are young than when they are older and can understand what's going on. That's a carte blanch statement, I know, and I also realize it's a big problem when custody issues are at stake. Tough place to be in
Head over to http://talkaboutmarriage.com/. There's lots of people going through marital issues. It may help some.

I guess he'd be in a bit of a catch-22. "Conspiring to put away a mate" is one of the worst offenses in JW-land. Maybe he's hedging his bet that the big A is many years away still, in case he gets DF'd.
You're in a lousy situation, especially with small children involved. I feel for you.

1 Cor 7:12-16: "But to the others I say, yes, I, not the Lord: If any brother has an unbelieving wife, and yet she is agreeable to dwelling with him, let him not leave her; 13 and a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and yet he is agreeable to dwelling with her, let her not leave her husband. 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in relation to [his] wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in relation to the brother; otherwise, YOUR children would really be unclean, but now they are holy. 15 But if the unbelieving one proceeds to depart, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not in servitude under such circumstances, but God has called YOU to peace. 16 For, wife, how do you know but that you will save [your] husband? Or, husband, how do you know but that you will save [your] wife?"
If you are agreeable to staying with him, per these verses, he should let you, and he should stay with you. If there are other problems, that's beyond the scope of these verses.
Best wishes, however it turns out.
EDIT: I spoke before reading the whole thread. If he's cheating, the above verses don't apply. If you think it's worth trying to save the marriage, by all means, do. If not, move on. I don't want to sound callous, so if I do, I apologize in advance. I totally understand a bad marriage and what it can do. I'm living in one. Again, best wishes to you, however it turns out.
