Plaintiff awarded in punitive damages -21M & 1 dollar. Total award, 28M & 1 dollar. Here's more info
by AndersonsInfo inthe plaintiff, candace conti's goal from the very beginning was to bring enough attention to this problem to incentivize watchtower to change its policy of secrecy.
the award can be explained as it was decided: separate compensatory and punitive damages.
the punitive award is established in law to punish wrongdoing - here, the conscious disregard for others - and deter that conduct in the future.

Nice Scriptures! I am afraid it may little too late for some of us to appreciate them due to hypocrisy of the Watchtower.

Shunning ... when it's Convenient
by xelder ini have a lifelong buddy (g) who is now df'd ....doing great and happy.
he has a nice boat.
a while back he gets a call from a very well known elder who, of course, shuns him.. elder: "hi g. i know this is a little strange, but i don't know who else to call".

Wow! I have one too.
I was approached by JW who was in forclosure for not paying HOA for 10 months. I wrote them a check of $1500 and bailed JW out from going into forclosing their home. They got to keep their home. The next time I saw them in Wal Mart I wasn't good enough talk to. They shunned me. They are still living in that home today.

Old Goat, Isn't that shocking! Sad thing is that most JWs including many elders do not know their own core doctrine on this. That is,
Jesus is the mediator between Jehovah and the anointed of 144,000 only!
The rest JWs have to look up the FDS(=the GB) for their slavation. The GB use this teaching to obtain complete obedience and loyalty of their followers. Why don't non-anointed JWs partake?(they are discouraged to do so in the first place, btw) Because they are not the party of the new convenant. They are just observers! More precisely, most JWs are still under the old covenant in essence, according to Watchtower teaching. SHOCKING!
The WTS teaches one thing that Christians are no longer under the Old Covenant but deny their own words by altering the teachings of Jesus found in the NT, including the ransom arrangement and replaced them with their own doctrines. Just like Pharisses.
Ask CO or DO or call Service Department!
(some may already have commented this. I have only read first page of this thread at the moment)

JW media: Every effort is made to help wrongdoers.
JW victims: Every effort was made to kick out child abused victims and their family who are helping victimized children by JW elders.
JW media: the congregation needs to be protected from their influence.
JW victims: the congregation needs to be protected from their speaking out the truth. Victims are forever silenced with label of 'unrepentant wrongdores'
JW media:The Bible clearly states that: "Remove the wicked man from among yourselves."(1 Corinthian 5:13)"
JW victims: Please do! Remove your wicked child abuser elders from your congregation. Why removing their victims instead? God is watching YOU!!
JW media = North Korean propaganda.

What it takes to become an atheist.
by dontplaceliterature ini was pondering this today during lunch, and to me it seems that it comes down to whether or not you can accept that you will one day be permanantly gone and anyone you have lost in death will never be alive again.
once a person becomes comfortable with these two ideas, there isn't really any incentive to believe.
maybe it's an over simplification, but it seems to me that this is the heart of the matter.

what it takes to become an atheist? hummmm...
was an atheist first 20+years. then converted to JW. and become a 100% theist. for 25 years. and then,
have personally witneseed sheer wickedness done without any remorse or conscience by the spiritual leaders and some of their followers who believe in God that sees everything.
also saw how injustice prevail and thrive every time while the helpess inocent viticms being thrown under the bus by evil religious JW leaders.
make me to compare these God fearing people to my atheist family members and my formal etheist association.
I starting to have more respect for my atheist family and friends for their humanity and sincerity. I found myself embarrassed for what and who I have become.
Some how I become judemental, self righteous myself as a theist. I had been naive, innocent, and mild as an atheist. Now I want to be who I used to be.
If God was there why and how He would lead or at least let his worshipers be less human! Why these god fearing people become deteriorate instead of making progress in their behaviour?
Or have I just had been mislead by false theists?

shucks, where's Blondie this week?
by stillin ini don't see her review of today's study article.
the "experience" of the person who was shunned by his family until he got himself reinstated really bothered me.
no mention of repentance, no mention of his wanting to restore worship of jehovah back into his life.

Stillin, talking about utter nonsense! Let me tell you real story what happened to that DF'ed person.
He got reinstated after enduring 10 years oh inhumane shunning treatment by his own family. He got df'ed again within 2 years for smoking. He got reinsted a year and half later but only to find himself facing the Judicial Committee once again less than 2 months.
After the 3rd Judicial Hearing, he ended his life the same night he got punished for the 3rd time. He couldn't do it again!
This is the real ending the monsterous Watchtower left out. IT IS A TRUE STORY!

mynameislame, Thanks for the link. Interesting reading! It remindes me of a MS who was invited to West Point but turned it down. He is struggling from job to job today. What a waste!
How about infirm elderly JW couple in their 80's being taken care by their DF'ed ex-daughter-in-law and her df'ed husband(not their son)! The most hypocritical part of the whole thing is that local JWs are actively shunning this couple who are a only caretaker of their own JW elderly (local elders don't mind about this arrangement as long as they don't have to do it), but glorifying uncaring JW family member who are elder, pioneers, and ms who abandoned their own hepless elderly!
How things can be so twisted and wrong? I am going crazy!!
Edit: Cadellin, that means local JW family and elders will finally going to take over their resoponsibility of taking care of their JW elderly and make sure no DF'ed JW ex-family be around them?
