Nice article, Eden.

some time ago, i wrote an extensive article on shunning and published it on my website.
since that website had views on doctrinal matters that no longer reflect my current stand, i took the website down.
however, my views on this matter are still current, and for the benefit of everyone here, i'm going to post the article here.

it seems unbelievable but turkey (a nato member state) shooting down a russian jet fighter on their syrian border seems to be "meh" news and no one is too bothered about it too much.. the world seems a bit upside down right now.
i don't think a lot of countries really know who the hell they are fighting and who is and isn't on their side in it all and really what is going on.. smaller incidents than this have led to major conflicts in the past but hopefully calm heads will prevail.
china shot down a us spy plane years ago and the world survived and forgot about it so things will move on i'm sure.. i'm guessing the price turkey pays for their gas supply from russia will be going up soon though.. man, that republican primary is sucking all the news attention from the room.
Russia is saying they are moving S-400 sams to their base in Syria (for some info, here). They will then be in a position to have Assad announce that Syria is no longer allowing uninvited foreign aircraft into their airspace. And they will have the means to enforce it. American ability/resolve will then come into question a bit more, pushing America to make their obligatory tit-for-tat.
All the logic about why they wouldn't engage each other (east vs west) is good, but sometimes events take a course that neither side intended. I see them moving in a way that reminds me of how WWI got started. I wonder if ISIS might not like the idea of propagating an east-west war as a means further their own caliphate.

absolutely disgusting!.

Now this is the sort of downloaded content they should be showing householders, especially female ones. It would help people get a more accurate view of the WT.
Saintbertholdt, make sure you count this video on your new fs report! (In fact, count a video showing for everyone who visits this thread after your post. We do want to have an accurate record!)

i saw this on ex jw reddit:"this may not be news to you but it was to me.
forgive me if this has already been posted before.
it came from a reliable source working on the warwick project.. wallkill bethel had broken ground and laid the foundation for a new recreation building.
Depending on the type of foundation, they should be able to clean the dirt off it and use it in the future.
That's what Saddam thought he would do with his MiG-25s :)

IL:
I don't have any more info to add, so I'm also waiting to hear if anyone else does.
Having said that, the story, if true, gives me the sense that they see a rather intense financial difficulty looming for them.

1914the turning point in history.
30 from the human standpoint, the world troubles and global wars foretold in the bible were far from the thinking of the pre-1914 world.

I started a thread (here) with almost the identical name back in February 2015 ... no wait, 2014 (my, how time flies!).
It was based on a comparison of the idea of 1914 being the ultimate turning point in history (per the WT) versus what Paul said in Acts 17:30, 31.

That 3rd speaker, who I think is Lett. He has the strangest facial contortions, hard to watch.
He reminds me somewhat of Red Skelton.

who were your past circuit overseers?
i'm sure a lot of us actually know mutual people, as the co's relocate all over the country.. here's a few from the southeast us: (let me know if you recognize any names and post yours too please...).
ellwood johnson (new york/philadelphia area for several years also).
James Jack:
Thomas Rucker - Stilled talked about in this area after leaving here 2 years ago. A real people person
I agree to. Larry & Susie were also very good. Recently retired from CO work now. I imagine Tom must also be near retirement too.
Most of the new ones I see seem to be pure company men. Some have their good points, yet, married to the bOrg, thru and thru.

i have to admit, aside from the "choose your own" doctrine aspect, the video was pretty well made.
well, for the wtbts.
they are behind the mormons and the lds, but it wasn't too bad.
Data, one of the things that stood out to me was the statement near the beginning of part 1, and repeated near the end of part 2, that it was 'necessary to believe that JWs had the truth' (or that 'these events about Jesus proved that JWs had the truth.')
Did you notice that also? There were statements that Jesus' miracles gave proof to his Messiah-ship (is that a word?). And these fit in with the 2 part video. But the statements that 'JWs have the truth' (regardless of the veracity of such statements) - they were like, out of nowhere. Nothing in the videos had anything to do with JWs.
These statements seemed to be inserted as a sort of audio subliminal messaging. There was no time to analyze the statements as to what they had to do with the videos (which, in fact, they had nothing to do with them).
Other than that, like you said, the videos were pretty well done. Seeing Jesus cry (in connection with Lazarus' death), and seeing him hug his disciples before he left earth were quite moving scenes.
