As they have been focused on translations into more languages, they decided to revise the lyrics AND music to make it easier to translate. And along the way, they added new songs with a less 1920's choral sound and more modern tunes.

BK_7530077801119 - Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 382 Rockaway Ave, Brooklyn; donated by Nettie Speaker and others, 12/27/74. Church still owns it.
FT_4810002852681 - D.A.R. Realty Co. transferred ownership of property to themselves (42%) and Judea United Baptist Church, Inc. (58%). No address given, but it's in the 3rd Ward of Queens at 46th Ave and 211th St. $0 in transfer tax paid.
FT_3980004937498 - Release of a Federal IRS Lien against Baptist Church of the Redeemer Flatbush Corp., 1921 Courtelyou Rd, Brooklyn. "The image of this document was removed from the public view because it contains private information. A copy can be obtained by going to any City Register Office."
I read through several others. Bottom line is that it seems very rare that a church would sell property, period. So, just because the JWs have been selling their property for millions, doesn't mean there is anything shady going on. I'm sure the other churches' properties are also worth millions.
And there's nothing for the IRS to do. Whenever the JW corporation files their taxes, these properties aren't listed as assets. And when they are sold, they aren't listed as income. If it were you or me, then these would be reflected as a 'Captial Gains' schedule (D?), and we would pay on the sale price less the purchase price, less any depreciation over these 30+ years. And, on top of that, the IRS has a provision that if you use that money to buy other property, you don't even get hit with those capital gains. They get rolled into the new property.
Anyway, I'm off track here. Find me another church who sold their property, and I'll see if there's a public deed we can look up.

what the heck are you guys going on about? like WT is the first religion to be tax exempt? why don't you go through the manhattan roles and let's see who owns all the churches? In fact, if you do the homework and give me the addresses, I'll look them up on that site and tell you what they were sold for. we all know that WT has been moving out of Brooklyn. So, obviously they are selling property. And they are using that money to buy the Warwick property, all the construction materials and equipment, to build out that project. they already admitted on video that the sale of all the buildings were enough to cover xx months of printing expenses (i don't remember the time frame, but it wasn't years). smh.

This isn't exclusive of JWs. There are plenty of parents who throw their kids out of the house when they get to be so stubborn they won't listen anymore. I'm so sick of hearing like this is some kind of JW thing. This is a being a stern parent thing. I'm not saying I agree with it, or would do it myself, but let's keep it real.

utah jehovah’s witnesses church forced woman to listen to audio of her rape, lawsuit says.
a woman is suing a jehovah's witnesses church in weber county after, she says, one of its instructors repeatedly raped her when she was a minor and the organization's leadership forced her to listen to an audio recording of one of the assaults.. the woman filed the lawsuit wednesday in 2nd district court, accusing the kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses church in roy — as well as naming the alleged perpetrator, several church leaders and the watchtower bible and tract society (the religion's headquarters located in new york) — of knowingly allowing the "unfit" instructor to rise to a position of authority without warning members of his "dangerous propensities" and past sexual transgressions.. read more: http://www.sltrib.com/news/4465861-155/woman-sues-utah-jehovahs-witnesses-church.

A leader from the congregation apparently warned the girl's parents in November 2006 that the instructor — who previously attended church sessions in Ogden and Oregon — was a "bad kid" who had "engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with a female member of the Clearfield congregation."
The girl's interactions with the instructor began in summer 2007, the lawsuit states, when she attended a movie with him.
Sounds like he'd been a longtime loser.
And FYI ... age of consent is 16 in Utah.
Now, why the heck are they playing a tape in a judicial meeting. Some elders have absolutely no common sense.
