Counting Time... Is It Part Of The Rot?

be honest, what was predominantly on your mind, telling people this wonderfull good news or was it counting time?.
an elder once said to me, "you know, it's strange how when pioneers quit pioneering, they're hours don't stay the same, they don't gradually diminish and they don't even drop by half... they drop practically to nothing.".

I pioneered for 8 yrs right out of High School, I even graduated a semester early to be able to start ASAP! It was the early 80s and it seemed that every other Watchtower study article emphasized the pioneer work, I remember one article in particular posing the question for all JWs to ask themselves: "Can I excuse myself before Jehovah for not pioneering?" not exact words but something similar to that. Talk about a "guilt trip"! Besides, I had a mom and a sister who were reg pioneers, both STILL are. An uncle who served on a branch committee in the foreign field, dad was and still is the PO etc... it seemed the natural thing for me to do. As some others commented, I too started out with the proper motive, I really felt that the Kingdom message needed to be shared with as many as possible before THE END, which of course was "around the corner"! I remember praying before each door for Jehovah to give me the proper words to say to touch the householder's heart. Eventually though the whole counting time issue did take its toll and I too succumb to the "men pleasing" trap! I finally had to stop as I realized that I couldn't continue fooling myself.

Fallout Over The WT-UN Contraversey

a long time jw friend of ours told my husband today that he has already disassociated himself from the organization after seeing the proof of wt's immoral affair with the beast.. this was the last straw for him.. i wonder how many others this info is going to effect this way?.

Fallout Over The WT-UN Contraversey

a long time jw friend of ours told my husband today that he has already disassociated himself from the organization after seeing the proof of wt's immoral affair with the beast.. this was the last straw for him.. i wonder how many others this info is going to effect this way?.

I was supposed to lead the group in the FS today, but just couldn't bring myself to go out. I must say Im quite dismayed lately with all the information now available about the WTS on line. I just finished searching the UN's website and sure enough the WTS is one of the member NGOs. We just covered the material in the Isaiah book about how Babylon the Great is sitting on the UN engaging in spiritual audultery and how she will be DESTROYED soon! While conducting the BS thursday nite I felt like such a hypocrite covering the material and actually having the friends read Rev 17 and asking for comments on the application of the text. I have a lot of work to do now. Monday Im going to carefully share the information with my dad.

we are a 3rd generation jw family, dad is the po, mom has been a reg pio for 25 yrs, brother is a bethelite.
can anyone tell me the date of this supposed "special meeting" and if there is a chicagoland location.. thanks

It will be very interesting to read up on the news from this "special" event.
I don't understand what the Society is trying to accomplish with all the secrecy surrounding this meeting. These are the things that feed the egos of the "pharisees" amongst us. I can just hear some of the "chosen" ones gloating over the fact they were invited. Personally, I could care less about sitting through yet ANOTHER meeting. My family and I, including my uncle and aunt overseas who serve in a foreign branch have always maintained a very low profile as we go about our service, never expecting acclamations for what we feel is our duty to perform. One of my dad's favorite texts is Ruth 2:12 "May Jehovah reward the way you act..." and this is his motto. I'm having a harder time lately dealing with all the pompous, over-righteous "boys" than I've had in the past. This event just gives them more fuel. Oh well-
