Anyone else had the tactic that you don't have to fully go back, start with small steps, just a Public Talk, and then add another Meeting etc ?Yes, I had pioneers use the same tactics on me and my friends.

Give Jehovah Only 6 Months!
by naazira inmain question: what do you think would happen if jehovah's witnesses stayed away from the watchtower organization for 6 months?
instead of "us" staying in their world for 6 months.
personally, i think they would be like the amish youth on rumspringa- many to never return.. i came across a thread here, where the poster said that their parents told them to give jehovah's org 6 months.

I would like if witnesses just gave the world a 6 month chance. I wonder what they would learn?!?!. Hmm.

I am loving these comments! Haha
Six months is about how long it takes to nicely finish brainwashing someone. they used to study with people for six months, by that end of that time they were expected to have progressed to the point of attending meetings and possibly baptism
^ Aha this could be the origin of the 6 months
Studies have also shown that people can be indoctrinated and brainwashed in a matter of weeks or even days depending on the methods used. 6 months? You're risking your life.
Wow, we're all so fortunate to escape.

I agree probably a CO, happened upon the 6 month tactic. I like how you explained cognitive dissonance, I never understood the meaning! So at the end of 6 months, we're supposed to come to the understanding that it's not them that has the problem but us! -

Main question: What do you think would happen if Jehovah's Witnesses stayed away from the Watchtower Organization for 6 months? Instead of "US" staying in their world for 6 months. Personally, I think they would be like the Amish youth on Rumspringa- many to never return.
I came across a thread here, where the poster said that their parents told them to give Jehovah's org 6 months. I too have been told to give Jehovah's org a try for 6 months. I could never make it pass 2 months. During the 6 months, I would ideally attend all meetings, go out in service, do parts on the school, and comment at meetings.
But....
What happens at the end of 6 months if the person still wants to stop attending meetings? Maybe a recommended extension of another 6 months lol? And what's so special about 6 months? It sounds like a 12 step recovery group, marking a milestone of sobriety at 6 months.
A lot of questions I know. ;)

Reminds me of how the Mormons lifted their ban on black people, when the government pressured them. Then out of thin air Voila, a new revelation from God to the Mormons' prophet that says it's time to allow blacks full membership in 1975!!!!!. If the governing body for some reason changes doctine, because of the court all credit will be given to Jehovah. -

If jw's obeyed all of the bible commandments what would they be like?
by purrpurr inthe jw's cite abstaining from blood along with other cherry picked commandments.
but then ignore the others.
this is very hippocritical and if they are going to obey one commandment they should be obeying the rest.. just as a bit of fun then... what would jw's be like if they obeyed every rule in the bible?.

Wait just to clarify- she's disfellowshipped and she's the one shunning you?
Or are you the one out of the religion and she's back in? Do your parents uphold shunning?

i feel more confused than ever
by BlackWolf inwell i know i've been posting a lot of topics like this lately and i'm sorry if i sound whiny or annoying.
my parents were asking me why i was so upset lately and i ended up just telling them the whole truth.
i told them i don't believe in god or the bible because i don't have any evidence of anything.

Your parents will probably have the elders meet with you. The reason I cautioned you to lay low in your other post was so that you could get your head together, and emotional strength. Now you risk meeting with elders who will be looking to see if you are a threat to the congregation. Hopefully, your parents will not mention what you said to them. If they do, you'll definitely be on the brothers' radar.
Please consider the comments that the members here have written on your posts. Many here have lost their families to this religion. Today you can have your family, and tomorrow you could lose them. They will remain faithful to Jehovah's organisation- with or without you!
Keep posting here and best wishes.
