Welcome and I am very happy for you! :-) :-) -
How long have you all been out?
i wanted to introduce myself.
like many of you i was born-in, am married with one child.
after 36 years of this cycle: doubts-thought stopping- suppression- indoctrination-cult mode i realised enough was enough.

hi, i am not a jw, but i am a student studying the jehovah's witnesses.
i was wondering if a jw could answer a few questions for me about your doctrine?.
where does your teaching come from (which writings)?.
I'll answer according to the jehovah's witness perspective. To the best of my knowledge, because their doctrine is updated often. This is not my perspective.
hello all, i would like to first say that i am basically questioning my faith in god.
i am not negative towards the wt at all.
so honestly i am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the wt because i still love the organization and the people in it.
Let me begin by saying most jws are decent people, who are trying their best to live an honest life. Just like the rest of us.
OK, so you came here because you are questioning your faith in God. But you also want to know how we got over certain indoctrinations of Jw's YET you do not care to hear about what you call anti witness info. Aren't you aware that you are technically asking us to share with you anti witness info?? Once you seek information outside of the organisation it is technically deemed "anti-witness info" .
Some of that anti witness info is what broke the chains of indoctrination for many of us.
How would you feel about being shunned if one day you are no longer a witness? Right now you seem ambivalent. Do you know the path you are going down? Or are you just looking to be a witness and pick and choose which doctrines you accept? (nothing wrong with that) Lastly, are you truly ready to wake up? Rejecting info is a sign that one is not ready to wake up, but want their ears tickled. Do you want a feel good message or do you want facts!
If you want facts, stick around this site ! :-) You may be pained or offended to read and learn things about the organisation but keep an open mind and heart.
Keep posting & commenting on the forums.
witnesses are not supposed to stand for the national anthem but can stand for a flag salute.. you can't say bless you if someone sneezes, good luck!, or " you too" if someone says, happy holidays.. it is a religion of cannot dos.
everything is pagan and worldly.. what are things that are unacceptable to jehovah's witnesses that really are no big deal to everyone else?
?.
No smoking
No masterbation
No oral sex
No pink hair
No long hair for men
No joining in prayer with Christiandom's followers.
No talking to former members
No studying philosophy
No wearing black nail polish
No violent movies or concerts
No saying thank you Jesus or thank you lord
No becoming close friends with non Jehovah's witnesses
main question: what do you think would happen if jehovah's witnesses stayed away from the watchtower organization for 6 months?
instead of "us" staying in their world for 6 months.
personally, i think they would be like the amish youth on rumspringa- many to never return.. i came across a thread here, where the poster said that their parents told them to give jehovah's org 6 months.
Anyone else had the tactic that you don't have to fully go back, start with small steps, just a Public Talk, and then add another Meeting etc ?Yes, I had pioneers use the same tactics on me and my friends.

I would like if witnesses just gave the world a 6 month chance. I wonder what they would learn?!?!. Hmm.

I am loving these comments! Haha
Six months is about how long it takes to nicely finish brainwashing someone. they used to study with people for six months, by that end of that time they were expected to have progressed to the point of attending meetings and possibly baptism
^ Aha this could be the origin of the 6 months
Studies have also shown that people can be indoctrinated and brainwashed in a matter of weeks or even days depending on the methods used. 6 months? You're risking your life.
Wow, we're all so fortunate to escape.

I came across a thread here, where the poster said that their parents told them to give Jehovah's org 6 months. I too have been told to give Jehovah's org a try for 6 months. I could never make it pass 2 months. During the 6 months, I would ideally attend all meetings, go out in service, do parts on the school, and comment at meetings.
But....
What happens at the end of 6 months if the person still wants to stop attending meetings? Maybe a recommended extension of another 6 months lol? And what's so special about 6 months? It sounds like a 12 step recovery group, marking a milestone of sobriety at 6 months.
A lot of questions I know. ;)
todays wt para 1-3 shows how jehovah can use so called worldly person to help his people with food and lodging instresting the royal comission may actually help get rid of things jw practice that are unscriptual.
