The DCs were like a mini vacation for us cuz we were poor. Staying in a hotel was a luxury.
i was in an used bookstore this weekend and saw a new world translation and some other society publications.
this made me think, what did others do with their books?
i gave mine to my mother, 22 years ago.
Trashed most of them. Kept the bible because I don't have a copy of any bible. I think I have the greatest man who ever lived.
today driving from the store and i have passed this place.
over 1000 times, a temple "kwan yin meditation temple.
incorporated".
kwan yin is a buddha of compassion so I'm guessing the meditation center is buddhist.

Someone tried to friend me. My profile is private so only my name and picture comes up for non-friends. Another commented and wanted to know if I was apostate. Interestingly, no one has yet to show compassion for the victims.
it may seem a strange question, but when i served as an elder i personally knew of about a dozen elders and servants children who joined various wicca groups or became buddists rather than leave to become agnostic or another "christian" denomination.. the ones who became involved with witchcraft did so in groups of jw children intregued by all the talk of satan's and the demon's power etc.
in the org.. the future buddists seemed turned off by the politics, and mean spiritness in halls.. i just thought of this after seeing the new dismal yearbook numbers and looking at facebook pages of some of the ex jws i know.. was this simply a california thing or is it worldwide?.
I'm in Maryland, USA. What appealed to me? Well, I was always into astronomy and most Pagan religions are nature religions. They track the seasonal changes. The second thing is that the Divine Feminine is honored unlike in Christianity. The Buddhism part of my path helps me to focus with meditation and chanting.
@Only Me - yes, I felt that I finally came home as well. I'm solitary also. I did not want to have to be initiated into someone else's idea of a religion. I'm free to pick and choose and make my own way.

Jehovah didn't protect Jennifer McDonel and her pregnant child when her and her husband was on the way to a meeting. She was killed by Joe Palcynzsky in MD. What about all the Witnesses that suffered in concentration camps? The ones in the countries without freedom of religion? The Witness children that are still getting bullied? I'm very disheartened that no one is showing compassion for the great loss of life that this tragedy caused. Aren't Jehovah's people supposed to be loving? Reread these comments. They sure make Jehovah seem petty and selfish.

Why did Jennifer McDonel who was killed by Joe Palcynzsky not survive? She was on her way to the Kingdom Hall. BTW, she was pregnant.
