It's a shame that I have to stay in it for a bit longer, if I want to have a house to live in.
Same here...
Same with me, too, unfortunately.

"Dress Code" for JW Funeral / Memorial Service
by Honeybadger inso, i'm attending a funeral for someone that was in the local congregation today.. i told my mom what i planned on wearing- a cute, dark grey blouse and some nicely tailored black pants.
she just about lost it.. mom- "you can't wear pants, it's at the kingdom hall!!!".
mom- "well, i guess you could, but you would feel so awkward and uncomfortable.

Update: I went in a black dress. There was one baptized sister (that I saw- I was in the front) that was wearing pants. My sister, who had heard my mom and I earlier, looked at me with the silliest face and whispered "PANTS!" That was the best part. Actually, the funeral talk in itself wasn't too bad. There was a lot more about the man's personal life and less convert-recruiting than what would typically be included.
Oh, and Outlaw, you always have the best pictures! Haha, I should have gone completely goth... at least I wouldn't be wearing *gasp* pants!

Allcool, I'm a born-in too, but I just thought I remembered seeing that when I was younger. Maybe I'm just going insane... it's highly probable.
Well, I'm just wearing a dress. Even though my original outfit is definitely more respectful. Don't want to rock the boat or seem like I'm "murmuring".

Ex 7:1 ponderings
by leaving_quietly inif god could make moses god (capital g, hebrew elohim) to pharoah, what prevents him from making jesus god to all humans?.
my point is: the concept of the father is god and the son is god is not a big stretch in light of ex 7:1, when god made moses god to one human.
jesus, being greater than moses, could easily be made god to all humans, and it would seem to fit the scriptures better, especially when considering john 14:28 and 1 cor 15:26,27, and, dare i say, john 1:1 as understood by most people.

Just a side note, but actually, Jesus never claimed to do away with the law. In fact, read Matt. 5:17-19.
17 “Do not think I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I came, not to destroy, but to fulfill;
18 for truly I say to YOU that sooner would heaven and earth pass away than for one smallest letter or one particle of a letter to pass away from the Law by any means and not all things take place.
19 Whoever, therefore, breaks one of these least commandments and teaches mankind to that effect, he will be called ‘least’ in relation to the kingdom of the heavens. As for anyone who does them and teaches them, this one will be called ‘great’ in relation to the kingdom of the heavens.
(from the NWT).
I believe that it was actually Peter or Paul (not sure) who claimed that the law was done away with.
Just felt like I should point that out.

So, I'm attending a funeral for someone that was in the local congregation today.
I told my mom what I planned on wearing- a cute, dark grey blouse and some nicely tailored black pants. She just about lost it.
Mom- "You can't wear pants, it's at the KINGDOM HALL!!!"
Me- "And what does that have to do with anything?"
Mom- "Well, I guess you could, but you would feel so awkward and uncomfortable. It's at the Kingdom Hall! Just wear a meeting dress."
Me- "Ok, mom."
Is this typically the case for a funeral held at the kingdom hall?
I swear, I've seen members of the congregation wearing pants frequently. I'm just going to point out everyone I see wearing pants (that is a woman) to my mom, and make comments to her about it.

New Light:
When Paul was preaching, Eutychus fell asleep, fell out of the window, and died. Luckily Fortunately, he was able to resurrect him.
Today, the meetings are SO boring deep and full of useless crap important information that the weaker brothers and sisters may doze off. Evidently, based on the account of Paul and Eutychus, the risk of people falling out of the windows at the Kingdom Halls is highly possible. Additionally, they have no means of resurrecting people at this time.
What a loving provision from the Organization! They are really looking out for our brothers and sisters in this time of the lawsuit end!
(For the record, if you couldn't tell, I completely made that up just now.)

maybe i've not been paying much attention, but it just seems like there is even more of this present than usual .
i just felt like sharing that.. .

There's so much loaded language, juvenile "reasoning", some semi-veneration of King David (yeah, he's definitely a good role model ), and twisting of scriptures to fit their purpose, and I'm not even to paragraph 10...

Edit: I can't believe I posted my first topic in the wrong sub-forum

I was actually thinking that I should do that when I was littering the neighborhoods with the convention invites today, but I'm too much of a chicken.

the expression "JDUB"
by wannaexit ini've heard the expression jdub coming out of the mouths of a couple of witnesses.
does it mean they know stuff about this organization and could possible be visiting sites such as jwd?.
this is leading me to believe that there are a lot more witnesses that have realized that their religion is a scam..

Someone I know had a householder come to the door and he asked her, "J-dubs?". That's when I first heard it, before I even dared to google search Jehovah's Witnesses.
