[endif]just read bublegum's post and was going to post there but realised it would be off topic.. it got me thinking - as did some of the other atheist threads - why are religious people scared or atheists?

Religious people in general don’t care much about atheist unless atheists try to interfere with their lives in any way. Other than that, it is the atheists the ones that tend to insult the believers and not the other way around.
The only religious people that spend time trying to convince atheist, are the witnesses, and not so much either, as their main target are people from other religions, specially other Christians.
About atheists being more compassionate, charitable, intelligent, and moral than the faithful, I have my reserves. There is good and bad people everywhere, but the most criminal regimes in human history were atheist.

I have listed 10 facts I have learned coming on this site, please feel free to add yours
by smiddy ini would like to list 10 facts i have learned since coming on this site ,facts i wasn`t aware of while in the movement and facts that have set me free from a religous movement that really is not interested in facts per se.. these are not listed in order of importance , and feel free to add your own list that applys to your circumstances.
1.the wtb&ts involvement with the u.n.. 2.the wtb&ts investments/shares some of which are questionable.. 3.their real estate properties around the world, millions if not billions, of $$$, while being a not for profit organization.
4.their pretense of obeying the law on" blood" while conveniently adjusting it to minimise their legal obligations in threat of a lawsuit.

That there are a lot of undercover apostates surfing this site and still going to meetings, conventions, being elders. When I was in, I thought apostates would be easily recognizable.
Now I am one myself.

Bethel brothers are very much idealized, I met a few nice ones. The creep brother that I mentioned in another thread used to volunteer at Bethel. He had a few very strange episodes that I wont go into in this thread, but I will only say that the word “weirdo” doesn’t do him justice.
I volunteered at Bethel once and felt used, maybe it was just the brothers I was dealing with. I had a nagging feeling of “what is going on here?”

German court rules religious circumcision on boys an assault
by mind blown inwonder how jw germans get around the blood/issue doctrine?.
http://news.yahoo.com/german-court-outlaws-religious-circumcision-172728400.html.
circumcising young boys on religious grounds amounts to grievous bodily harm, a german court ruled tuesday in a landmark decision that the jewish community said trampled on parents' religious rights.. the regional court in cologne, western germany, ruled that the "fundamental right of the child to bodily integrity outweighed thefundamental rights of the parents", a judgement that is expected to set a legal precedent.. "the religious freedom of the parents and their right to educate their child would not be unacceptably compromised, if they were obliged to wait until the child could himself decide to becircumcised," the court added.. the case was brought against a doctor in cologne who had circumcised a four-year-old muslim boy on his parents' wishes.. a few days after the operation, his parents took him to hospital as he was bleeding heavily.

It is usually the men that have been circumcised themselves, the ones that decide to circumcise their sons, if they saw it as a bad thing, they could choose not doing it.
Of course the government has to protect children if they are being abused, I don’t see this is the case.
This sentence opens the door to the state interfering with the decisions that belong to the parents. This is just my opinion.
Jamesmahon, I personally think circumcision is beneficial. There are always different points of view and different studies supporting both opinions.

What is an assault is the German government stepping in, and telling the parents how they have to educate their children.
Politicians get paid to run a country and make sure the individual rights of their citizens don’t get abused, not to direct people’s private lives, and based on one particular case where the doctor didn’t perform the circumcision correctly, change the law so they can do that more undisturbed.
If the parents have no right to decide if their son is getting circumcised or not, the state much less so.
Europe is getting more and more invasive in the private lives of its citizens. All done in the name of freedom. In the name of freedom we are losing one by one all our hard earned rights, like the right of the parents to educate their children how they see fit within the law and the limits of reasonableness.
In France you don’t have the right to wear a cross if you work in public service, so as to not offend anybody. That’s very considerate, personally I get offended by how some people dress or act when in public, where should I go to complaint?
Ironically in the name of free speech you have the right to insult somebody’s religion. Of course in other instances, if you say something politically incorrect, the right of free speech does not apply anymore.
The state has no business in this very personal decision. They should be tackling other big problems, like the economy, crime, women circumcision that is rather a mutilation, social inequalities, education, etc.
Incidentally male circumcision is beneficial for both the men and the women’s health. Personally I do not want the government to tell me if I can circumcise my sons or not. I paid them to run the country in an effective way, and they are not doing a great job lately.

What do you think?
by rip van winkle inhave we denied jesus by our non-participation of the bread and wine at the memorial?.

Van Winkle, you are in a cult. What exactly keeps you in? Is it worthy?
My bet is not.
I totally agree with Fernando and transhuman, they are not true Christians.
Try not to get too hang up with 607 or any other particular issue, the whole thing is just a scam. They are trapped in, you don’t need to be, weave them good-bye and don’t walk, run.
You are a free human being, enjoy the gift of life that was given to you, and never let anyone else manipulate you or control you like this cult has done.
Seek outside support from non-believing relatives and worldly friends, and just send these hypocrites to hell. There are many other churches you can join where you can do meaningful voluntary work that actually makes a difference in your community.
Many have been in your place before, you are not alone. Surround yourself by well balanced, supportive and positive people and make yourself happy from now on.
Avoid ass****s in the future.
All the best.

WILL CRIMINAL CHARGES FOLLOW FOR JEHOVAH'S WITNESS ELDERS AND WATCHTOWER STAFF?
by Balaamsass inin light of this week's us trials for child molestations, the above question needs to be weighed for any jw elder.
they can follow the men of watchtower... or follow god by taking the moral high ground, protecting children, and following the law.. jerry sandusky will spend the rest of his life as a target for jailhouse rape.
he may soon be joined by others who simply decided to stay silent and not report his crimes.

They deserve the same sympathy they show. Elders are the ones judging people first line, they are responsible for the suffering they are causing in the lives of the victims.

Draconian Rules for Attending "Special Convention"
by BluesBrother inbritish dubs are invited to attend a special convention next summer in dublin , irish republic.
o k, this kind of trip has been done many times before.
however i have never seen such a crude and rigid set of rules that would apply to their own people going on a trip, at their own expense of course.
