Is the Governing Body EVIL or IGNORANT?
by cedars insome of you will have noticed that i've been paying a lot of attention to the governing body recently.
this is because most jehovah's witnesses venerate them collectively (even if they can't name them individually), and i feel this makes it important to understand this group of men properly and expose their mindset as individuals.
as the saying goes, i feel it's important to "know your enemy".. i realize it's very convenient to think of the governing body as being "evil" when we consider that they are ultimately responsible for all the damaging jw teachings and beliefs.

Usually both things go hand in hand. The end result is the same anyway, they are evil in my opinion, because unlike the rest of us when we were in, they have information about the workings of the organization that none of us had at the time.

Judge Rutherford Was Extremely Politically Neutral
by God_Delusion inhowdy guys and gals,.
yesterday i received an email from a jwb visitor which pointed me to the 1934 yearbook.
i was completely shocked to see just how politically neutral the 2nd president of the watchtower society really was.. here's the article - http://www.jehovahswitnessblog.com/jehovahs-witness-history/are-jehovahs-witnesses-politically-neutral/.

The Watchtower and the Masons
by ozziepost inthe latest edition of the free in christ ministries journal contains a very interesting article entitled the watchtower and masons.. drawing upon material from the book the watchtower & the masons by fritz springmeier, it gives the following parallels between the things that c t russell believed and those taught by the masons:.
* both believe jehovah is the most important word being the basis of their dogma, and the name of their god.
* both believe god yielded power to a lesser god.

Were You Ever Comfortable Going From House To House?
by minimus inbecause i was raised a witness, i don't think i was "uncomfortable" knocking on strangers' doors.
(weirdo).. but as i got older, i simply didn't want to bother anyone so i was at there door for no more than 30 seconds.
at the end i hated being there..

I hated every second of it, the gossip, the car groups, the selling of magazines, the having to do return calls when the householder was obviously not interested but was friendly enough to talk to us, etc.
I was never good at it. My return calls never progressed and I still don’t understand how I managed to have a couple of Bible studies over the years, which I am glad to say never progressed either. They are both doing fine, supporting other religions.
I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself otherwise.

JWs "Encourage" Their Youth To Invest In The Full Time Ministry And Not Go To College so....
by minimus inif that's the case, ideally, we should all be preachers and never college students or college grads.
but here's the problem for those that adhere to that viewpoint: jw's should not sponsor anyone that has gone to college.
if you support such ones, it should be conscientously objectionable.

Totally agree with you longhairgal, I remember once we had in the local needs not to put our jobs at the centre of our lives, and to make sure our job wouldn‘t stumble others (my job at the time had some indirect Christian connection). I couldn’t believe my ears during the meeting, as the congregation had many other much bigger problems to address, and on top of that on the way home a sister that didn’t like her job, and that was always broke and owing money to others, was telling me how good the local needs were and how we needed to consider how our job could affect other people‘s consciences, etc.
I did as if the whole thing had nothing to do with me, and continued enjoying my full-time job with a good conscience. Nobody ever addressed me directly about that.
She continued owing money to others and soon after had a fallout with another sister because she couldn’t pay her back what she owed, and besides the other sister had two jobs.
I’ve known many other people, specially young single sisters, having difficulties making ends meet but still wanting to pioneer. And they consider this being spiritual oriented.

If they do this, they are effectively persecuting people that just want to live their lives without submitting to their cult.
They should try treating people a bit better and probably wouldn’t have to deal with this issue of apostasy. People that want to leave other religions, are not harassed in any way to stay, or pushed to leave, the door is always open if they want to come back (as in the parable of the prodigal son), but they are not put in this with us/against us situation.
I can only speak for Catholicism, but I know it is true for most of the other mainstream religions, not so for psycho-controlling-cults.

unanswerable questions
by outsmartthesystem inhey all...... i have decided to compile a list of questions that jws simply cannot answer without opening up a vulnerability.....such as.
1) if jesus is only mediator for the 144,000 then who is the mediator for the rest of us?
2) plasma is one of the four main components of blood and cannot be taken.

This documentary proves the point that people can be manipulated to believe almost anything if presented by a bunch of experts (or actors), mermaids being an extreme example.
Those who control information control the world.
Mermaids may not exist but we live in Oceania.
