Ironic, considering Netherlands is known for its Red Light District.

by Terry inthe punchline is: (at the end).
esther had very long, bright red hair like a disney character and she might have been almost attractive--if it weren't for two things.1.
she had no chin.i mean, just don't look at her in profile.

I knew one elder that brought a rotten fish to the congregation of a sister that wasn't interested in him.
I hope Jehovah will avenge her.

Bewildering Background revealing who stopped slavery in the world
by Terry inbewildering background.
even among the greatest religious thinkers and moral philosophers of civilizations around the world for 1000’s of years slavery was not considered a moral issue.. only one civilization developed a “moral revulsion” against it very late in its history:western civilization.. abraham lincoln said:if slavery is not considered wrong; nothing can be considered as wrong.. but why did not even the leading moralists among other nations and civilizations reject slavery at all?.
there is no evidence that slavery came under attack in any other part of the world before the 18th century.

We are talking about the world in the 16th Century. Not sure what were protestant countries in Feudal Europe doing against slavery at the time. All we know is that slavery is very much alive in the 21st Century.
Jesuits were also a Spanish Catholic Order that nowadays have been replaced by the Opus Dei, which looks more like a protestant joke than anything else.
And no need to get so heat up about the Spanish being the first to do something against slavery. Americans can actually be the ones freeing the world from it once and for all. Hopefully this time for real.

I'm afraid Thomas Sowell had the wrong information. Slavery was forbidden in the 16th Century by Catholic Spain.
Not sure what happened afterwards or why there are more slaves nowadays than ever before in history.
Maybe we should ask Thomas Sowell.

Did you feel contempt for Non Witnesses
by Steel inthe other day i went to this farm owned by this jw lady with my wife being a jw and my mother being a non witness.
later taking to my mother she noticed this vibe like this jw lady really hated her.
she just had these little slags like when we tried to pay for the fruit we picked , she looked directly at my wife and said " don't worry about it, i only charge wordly people ".. i also have this aunt who is a jw we are estranged from.

The terms worldly people, worldly friends, worldly attitudes... were widely used in all congregations I've been. There was even worldly nail polish and worldly hair cuts.

Does Anybody Here Sympathize With The Looters That Cause Destruction?
by minimus ini realize some here are diehard democrats.
whether you are democrat, republican or independent, do you support any of these looters that cause mayhem and destruction for their cause?
i have heard some people sympathize with these law breakers saying they understand why they do what they do and leave it at that.. of course i wonder how they would feel if their own property was burnt or stolen or destroyed..

Mobs are very dangerous, who would encourage a mass of people to solve ANYTHING?
People are not numbers, but they are treated as if they were and they behave accordingly.

Never, and I never saw it either. Only once I heard from a not so exemplarly brother that worldly people were the dead men walking, and it was quite shocking.
They hate "the world" as a whole, not the individuals living in it, and they also look down on witnesses doing something they dissaprove of, like starting a relationship with a worldly person, dressing worldly or displaying any other worldly behaviour.
Not mixing with the world can be missundertstood as contempt but it's not. They truly want to help those people they keep their distance from.

I don't get it - Marriage in WT world
by menrov inin wt world, a marriage is only seen (considered) as legal if it is registered in the municipality (or similar governmental organisation).
now, if you look at the scriptures, there was no requirement to have a marriage legally registered in order to be considered married.
is it not strange that the wt subjects themselves to and adopts an worldly arrangement setup but governments rules by satan when it comes to a marital status?.

The Supreme Court says marriage is a constitutional right. Thus there is no need for a license or permit. If preaching is a right and we don't need a permit, then same with marriage.
I think is very romantic to be married in the eyes of God and also in the eyes of Satan, like Jehovah's Witnesses do without giving much thought to it.

The most honorable way to start a family is still getting legally married. Of course if you believe the State is in the hands of the Devil, it doesn't make any sense to do it.
And they say Feminism is destroying families, not alegal practices like prostitution, concubinate, poligamy or marrying for fiscal purposes.

by BluesBrother inthe subject is searching for lost sheep.
how do the congregation view the inactive ones who no longer associate?
not with disdain, we are told but as lost sheep “still our brothers “ it is said that god loves them and they too must do what they can to help them.. why have we strayed ?

I've been there. I've been that sister in the bus thinking to myself: they look so much better from the distance.
