As a JW my vote would have been Chronicles too.
But now I'm with Farkel, the entire Bible bores me.

what did you find the most boring book to read in the bible?.
its a hard choice as there's so many to choose from but i have to go with psalms.flipping nora it take for ever to read, is written in some incomprehensible way, and is about nothing!
As a JW my vote would have been Chronicles too.
But now I'm with Farkel, the entire Bible bores me.

i was baptized in 1988. i'm trying to find the questions that were asked just prior to baptism that all the candidates said "yes" to.
according to the wt cd of 1997, that info is in the om book which is not on the cd - i threw mine away some months ago.
anyone have this info?
Here's the old questions so you can compare between them.
Baptized in the name of Jehovah, Jesus & Holy Spirit.
*** w58 8/1 478 Baptism ***
22 It is essential that with the mouth a public declaration of faith be made. Two
questions are therefore asked the candidates:
(1) Have you recognized yourself before Jehovah God as a sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the Father, through his Son Jesus Christ?
(2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for salvation have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to God to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightening power of the holy spirit?
23 Everyone who can answer “Yes” to these questions is eligible for baptism and should take this step without hesitation or delay.

i'm pretty new here (five minutes old!
) and i'm curious: how many have left the organization and, in time, become athiests.
i was raised in the organization, so growing up, my thinking was -- of course -- stifled.
I was raised as a JW from the time I was 2-35yrs old and now I would describe myself as Agnostic.
I'm happier and believe I'm a better person now.

parents, a rational choice .
i was a believing walkaway (1974 ) from the group, jehovahs witnesses.
i expected at some level that my walking away would be temporary.
Thanks for sharing this.
Your story is so familiar to me.
I had lost of questions as a teenager and I would be accused of not having enough faith or having a rebellious attitute that could lead to apostacy.
The fear and shame would shut me up for awhile until I just quit thinking for many years.
When your parents use that word "truth" so much you tend to believe they are genuinly interested in it.
When you dare to question or share information you find that they are really afraid of the "truth" and would rather live in a fantasy that they just label as truth.
When you finally start the journey towards answering these questions that have plagued you for years you've inadvertantly started something else in motion at the same time.
The begining of the end of relationships with JW family and friends.
This is so sad and painful.
It is true as you mentioned that they feel vulnerable and believe you are trying to take something away from them.
My mom claims that I am trying to destroy her faith and hope.
I don't know how to avoid these tragedies I just want you to know that there are many of us just like you going through this stuff.

i found this out from my brother-in-law, an elder at bethel.. he says that the wtb&ts has hired outside printing compan(y|ies) to print their bound volumes only.. i do recall when i was up in ri, that a brother worked for a printing and binding company that the wtb&ts hired to print the greatest man covers.. also regarding dumping people at bethel -not true, he says.
however, they are not accepting any new people.
for individuals who want to stay they can.
Well I guess they will have to stop putting those articles in the KM encouraging young brothers and sisters to have Bethel as a goal when they graduate High School.
The goals for these young people keep dwindling.
Just think of all the disappointed young JWs when they get this news.

I hope you don't consider me to to be an apostate for the crime of db-interfaith.

i was told that gerrit losch was one of the nethinim before he became a gb member that means he was not of the annointed.
my source told me he felt he was annointed but did not partake from the emblems because of his wife who has the earthly hope.
but then he changed his mind and became a gb member.. is this true?
SYN,
In answer to your question, this is WT's explanation.

Non-Israelites Also Return
8 When the call went out for lovers of Jehovah in Babylon to return to the Promised Land, thousands of non-Israelites responded. In the lists provided by Ezra and Nehemiah, we read of the “Nethinim” (meaning, “Given Ones”) and “the sons of the servants of Solomon,” whose combined number was 392. The accounts mention also more than 7,500 others: ‘men slaves and slave girls,’ as well as non-Levite “male singers and female singers.” (Ezra 2:43-58, 65; Nehemiah 7:46-60, 67) What moved so many non-Israelites to return?
