Here is what some JW's on WOL db are saying about the commercial.

koolami WOL Runner posted 10-31-2001 03:17 PM From what i've read on a JW mailing list, the commercial is being trialed in the NE part of the US. This is what 1 person said"It was short but very nice. It showed 4 scriptures about Love, Love never fails being one of them. It shows a couple getting married and then a family around a campfire and then a couple walking down the beach. It was only 45 second long. At the end it says: For more information call .... An 800 number. and it ended with the words: "from the congregation of Jehovah witnesses."
Marlon WOL Crawler posted 11-01-2001 01:41 AM sounds interesting! As has been said Jehovah's org. has in the passed used many avenues to advertise the Good news. TV adds have been known to sell products. If this is true then this is this best product people could buy. Please keep us posted
Brian WOL Stepper posted 11-01-2001 08:58 AM It is interesting to see how Jehovah's organization keeps moving. With increasing nationalism in this and other countries, the timing of this most likely couldn't be better. People seem to persecute what they do not understand. I know some may feel that advertising is a step down but the faithful slave most certainly has had discussion upon discussion as well as prayer upon prayer deciding how to go about this. We can be assured with Jehovah's blessing that this will have wonderful results!Besides there was a time when we likely never expected the organization to have a website but look at the results that has led to over the years. This will be exciting!
Caramel posted 11-01-2001 11:55 AM Hmm this is a very interesting time. I'd always kinda laugh at the other church commercials I would see on tv. Now that the Society is airing their own I just feel really weird about it.
Not only could the ads show people the truth about what we believe but it could serve as a topic for discussion. We could ask the householder what he thought of the ad and take it from there.
This could get really interesting.

I find all of this very interesting! Let’s face it, when the government or a public health organization wants to alert the population of an important news item, perhaps a need to take precautions or some other action, what do they do? Yes! They use the mass medium of television. Why? Because they know there is no better way to reach the masses with what they consider a crucial message. This has been done for years here in Australia, government sponsored commercials about the dangers of drink driving, breast cancer, skin cancer, drug abuse etc,. So why shouldn’t the greater government via the “faithful and discreet slave†class use this very same medium to let the masses know about something of greater importance that will solve all of the world’s woes, including the ones mentioned above. I think it is a public service to the superlative degree. Perhaps many that will watch it may feel more inclined to listen to us next time we knock on their door. Let’s face it a lot of people do not open the door to us because of what others have told them about us. Usually other people have either told them lies or misrepresented us in some way. So hearing it directly from Jehovah’s Witnesses via their television may well be what’s needed for some to talk to us and ask questions when we call. Others may live in areas that seldom get a witness, or they may never be home when we call. If it saves just one is it worth it? The heavens certainly think so, for there is great rejoicing in heaven over one sinner that repents. I would like to see it. So if anyone knows if it’s roaming around the net, please direct me to the link. It would be most appreciated. As who knows when or even if it will ever arrive to Australia.
CandleintheSand WOL Crawler posted 11-01-2001 07:34 PM Agreeing with Joseph here! Good comments! No doubt the faithful and discreet slave has given this avenue of making Jehovah's name and purposes known quite a bit of prayerful consideration. Television, as we know, comes right into the home, no door to hide behind! And one never knows what a family is experiencing at the moment the TV ad is done. It could touch a heart at that moment, making that person want to know more or be more receptive at the door. I know I won't be able to contain my excitment if I see it on TV! Maybe we'll know more in an upcoming KM? Hope so!
