i'm sure that whatever stage we are at with our journey in leaving the corporation disguised as a religion, aka the watchtower bible & tract society, we have good days and bad days.
maybe young ones who have managed to escape mentally do not suffer quite as much, or suffer in different ways, but after 40 years of indoctrination, what i now like to call the "machinery of reinforcement" it is unavoidable that you don't have days where your head is messed with.
yesterday was just such a day for me.

i listen to the meetings to see what's going on and I was only thinking the other night about how everything is repeated ad infinitum, and as you put it so well in a nutshell it's the machinery of reinforcement at work right in plain sight,

for the last few months, i feel like i've been going through the 5 stages of grief.
lately, it's been happening simultaneously.
in my other posts, i've expressed anger at my family and congregation for their thoughtless ways.
I think a lot of posters on here have been through at least parts of what your describing, I for one understand the feelings of anger and isolation that your feeling. Also it's like your trying to communicate with them but it's like you're in a sealed glass case and they can't hear you or like your suddenly talking another language or something, yes it is normal to feel what you are feeling..... I'm two years into my fading and it still occupies my mind a great deal but I have to say it's starting to ease a little, so hang in there your not alone.

i absolutely cannot believe how quickly he became a jehovah's witness.
in the span of less than a year, he attended his first meeting, studied, got baptized, became a pioneer, and married a jw girl.

now the harvest is underway up north i can get out for a walk with the metal detector in the evening.
i am lucky to live on a historic rural estate and i have permission from the landowner to detect.. this is a coin that popped up last night.
it was only about 2 inches deep and had been tumbling around in the plough soil for the last 750 years.. it is a silver penny of king henry iii.

why is it that we have chosen to step away from the society that we once viewed as "the truth", despite the consequences for doing so?.
well for any visitors to this site, or any other "apostate" sites, the answer is simple really:.
I was on a job on my own and in a house on my own, there were some periods that I could not work but had to wait for delivery, so I amused myself by looking up YouTube videos on my phone, naturally I punched in truth related information, Peter Gregorson came up , curious I listened to his animated speech , next I came across a narrated reading of crisis of conscience, I played it over and over, virtually the whole series over a few days, I couldn't believe what I was hearing, formerly I'd been led to understand that Raymond Franz had simply gone mad and turned his back on the truth and would poison your mind , little prepared me for the humble reasoning that came through in those readings, from that moment on I was a changed person, more than half a lifetime of effort and enslavment fell to the floor in that very building, as I drove away I left my faith in that building, I don't know what prompted me to listen that day for the first time because normally I'd pass over anything like that , from there I went into research mode to make sure of what I had found out was actually really true . I just don't know what made me want to look that day , maybe it was my time to find out and either reject or accept but I could not deny what I had learned and now cannot understand why others can't see it , but they have to see it for themselves, it seems impossible to wake them up .
so i'm absolutely clueless concerning relationships.
i had barely any friends at all growing up a jw kid & absolutely no interaction with "worldly" people or any guys whatsoever.
i have had a relationship of sorts with a guy for 4.5 months now, but i'm so clueless!
I understand that completely..... As a witness for many years, keeping away from most normal people who I didn't have a reason to be with ( the " truth " ) and seeing them as ultimately corrupting, which they are not , left me socially lost and awkward, always feeling the odd one out, always seeing people through suspicious eyes, and yet when you she'd the bubble of delusion you see that there are very many beautiful people out there, it's just learning how to filter things properly, that's a skill the world learnt a long time ago but we are generally uneducated in this respect and it takes time to understand that people can love you for what you really are and not your spiritual status, but just for you , I wish you best wishes and please don't give up because there are very many of us out here who know and feel exactly the same as you .

I would just like to know at what point will witnesses worldwide wake up to the fact that just about everything that can be sold is being sold, and that this implies a massive contraction in the organisation that cannot be explained other than its all been made up , they must be putting their cognitive dissonance in overdrive to explain it away.
Hell will someone wake up I feel like shaking them for their own good.
The society is running out on them and leaving them like it did in 1975 ,
but now to just reemerge as an online only religion..... I was in since 76 and I can hardly recognise what is left, the old stalwarts I remember would be turning in their graves. It really is the end of an era .
