he grew up during the second world war, right when the nazi atrocities were still fresh in the memories of millions.. milgram's classic experiment pitted the subject's moral beliefs against the demands of authority.
of all the psychology experiments i am aware of, milgram's produces the most startling and disturbing.
I think that all of us here are here precisely because we could no longer go along with what we were told was the correct thing to do.
It's true that we all need to accept responsibility for acting in ways that were unkind. However, I believe that we all at the time felt we were doing things for someone's "own good". I know that I bought into the spiel about shunning a person so that they could see the error of their ways and come back to the congregation. In this way, we were actually contributing toward the saving of their lives.
It's an insidious thing. I know that I could no longer continue with this type of thinking. I did my share of self-righteousness, but fortunately I finally woke up.
Hopefully, I've learned enough so that I will not do such things again.

The Mormons are one group, I believe, that can probably top most of the others for weird beliefs.
My nephew was a Mormon for about a year....it was a very bad year. He has tried to disassociate himself from them, but they refuse to accept his disassociation. At least he's not being shunned.

The thing I always find amazing is that all of the active JW's will knowingly nod their heads and talk about the doctrinal changes in other religions...."ah, yes, just shows how false these religions are....mmmhmmmm...change their doctrines and all". But when similar doctrinal changes are pointed out about the JW's, these same people will chorus, "See, the new light that comes from the GB to enhance these doctrinal issues just shows how right we are". They never seem to notice that the Society is doing, and has been doing the doctrinal switch for years....the same doctrinal switch for which other religions are labelled "false".

of all games....if your've ever played it, you'll know its pretty violent, you could even say demonic!, atleast thats how the gb would put it i reckon!.some how i just cant imagine all these dubs ditting down playing this type of game....imagine it would be a big no no.. on anther topic, whats with these bethel tours they're always advertising over there abyway?, anyone been on one, i mean what would be the attraction....whatever happened to disney land?

there is no debate about this.
that these congregations were not entities unto themsleves is attested to by the travels and subsequent letters of the apostle paul.
7, I've found that there are those who do not consider themselves Christian, but who very much value their relationship with God. I may not agree with all of their beliefs, but I definitely relate to their sense of the divine. I am learning. I used to believe that I had the truth and that anything else was of Satan. Now I know that what I had was but one small piece of the truth and that there is so much more to learn.
