Well, waiting, I've been using the mounting block a LOT It's been fun.
We took the horses out to a park nearby over the weekend. They have bridle trails that go along a cliff overlooking Narragansett Bay. It was wonderful....beautiful leaves, bright sunshine, sailboats on the Bay. Doesn't get any better than that!

sites like this are most useful to us to determine the number and strength of the so-called reform movement.. once identified, most receive loving direction and no longer post.
many who remain are typical born-again posers, witnesses who left years ago, or individuals assigned by us to stimulate conversation.. (note how the composite simon posts when things are slow.

we were talking here just yesterday about it and so now i'll relate to you the strange tale told to me by a friend of mine.
now before you read it i have to warn you that it might appear a little far-fetched but this guy is pretty reliable...well you decide for yourselves.... i haven't been the same since he told me the story.. -seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it-

when i was a jw, i thought i knew enough about the religion to try to convince others to join.
in reality, i only knew what other jw's and the wts told me.
i admit to being gullible and naive when at a young age i wasn't sure what i wanted out of life.
I must admit that even as an active JW, I couldn't really understand why other literature was forbidden. I always used to wonder who at Bethel was either strong enough or expendable enough to read all of these reference works so that there could be articles written using quotes from the material.
I also reasoned to myself that if we were going to teach the "truth" to people of various religions, it would be good if we could understand what their religion taught so we could know how to handle things in our ministry.
I even went so far as to send for a Catholic study course. I was terrified, however, that I would be found out and df'd for having such literature in my possession.
I let the fear rule my literature choices from that point on, but those thoughts stayed in my mind. Those "why's" added on to many other "why's" over the years until they were too numerous and too clamorous to ignore.

BTW BOrg is an acronym for Brooklyn Organization....even those at Witnet use it.....it just happens to fit the Star Trek analogy also....very convenient.

I understand the difference you mentioned, and I know that there is a lot of abuse in the area of affirmative action. However, I AM glad that there are anti-discrimination laws; otherwise, I might not have ever had a chance to obtain the job I have in computer programming (women can't do math, doncha know). LOL
I think that perhaps I can top your congregation as far as evildoing is concerned....not in quantity, but in "quality" of the evil, so to speak.
Our congregation was honored to have a Ministerial Servant, married to an elder's daughter, and well on his way to being an elder himself, who spent his days getting high on cocaine. They discovered his little secret after he murdered an elderly woman to get cash to supply his habit. To the best of my knowledge, he is still in prison for this little debacle. To the best of my knowledge, he was never disfellowshipped.

HAL, sweetie.....if you want to see proselytising, check out the International Church of Christ. They're fairly new, and they look to be the JW's of the new millenium. Very bright, VERY active in their ministry.....Bible studies....the whole deal. They even believe in reporting sins to the elders.....and they disfellowship, too!! One more bright, happy cult on the way up. Yessiree!!
BTW....THEIR Bible studies are solely from the Bible. Guess they haven't quite gotten enough funds in the old coffer to start their own mega-publishing business yet.....give them a decade or two....they'll catch up.
Yep, and even though they are only about 20 years old, they already have support sites set up and recovery groups to help people who have been chewed up and spit back out.
