Dealing with nightmares

i had some terrible dark nightmares when i was studying which disappeared once i got baptised.

i think it was psychological based on the fact i believed jehovah was protecting me after i was baptised.

i had a nightmare tonight after just under a year of being out of the borg and woke up feeling a bit lost because in the past i'd have prayed and then gone back into a peaceful sleep but since i don't pray anymore i wasn't sure how to comfort myself to go back to sleep.

I have CPTSD(complex post traumatic stress disorder) due to the cult, and my inability to cope with regular life with no family. My nightmares got so bad at one point in my life that I had them every night for about 3 years. It took some time but I have learned to self sooth after the nightmares. I dont have them much anymore.

If not in counseling now I would suggest going to talk to one about having nightmares if they start getting out of hand.

I look on dreammoods regarding my dreams sometimes just to break the intensity up of a fresh nightmare. I wake up from them and go directly to the site. Basically for me it just sort of puts it into perspective and I also breath deep and say my own little mantra.

Hopefully yours will not be an ongoing thing like mine were. I guess in some ways I've come farther than I thought.

Gezz, I need to apologize for my word vomit towards minimus. If for no one else but myself.

Political news and post trigger me and I said some things to you in the heat of that trigger that I regret and dont truly mean.

A backdrop as to why if anyone cares. Wouldn't blame you if dont.

Last year at this time I was working as a Butler for a well to do Trump supporting family. I was told and it was enforced that I was to watch and agree with all political things regarding Trump. My life was threatened literally more than I can count. My pay denied. To the tune of 30,000 dollars for the year. So I sat and agreed but it still wasnt enough for this family. Because I had.....HAD!!! friends that did not understand why I was 'illegally made" to alter whatever I believed in to keep this job, they broke off. That hurt. But I live in a redneck small town so the rules are made here and enforced here, if you catch my meaning. Legally I had to pursue this to get away from them. It was not pretty. It took me down. It slapped them but destroyed me. After I got real sick, still am, and am fighting with all I got.

They were extreme. They called black people monkeys. Interfered with my side business. The gym i belonged to was very vocal about not supporting Trump. When it was found I was working for a family that did, my membership got cancelled. Was that legal? No. But is it legal in a small town that makes there own rules. No. But who will stop them. No one in a small redneck town....... The list goes on.

So Political post trigger, me big time.

I was not allowed to have a voice. AT ALL!!! Even when I agreed, it was wrong. I was called retarded,ignorant,leftist, (im republican) for not wanting to wake up at 5am to watch the news and praise Trump.And I do mean praise Trump. I did not vote for Hillary, but it doesn't matter . It didn't matter. I was a target and Trump crammed down my throat. News on for 1 year solid near 24/7 about politics. I was made to make meals but had to eat something else. I paid for the food. How could I let this happen?

This seems like something out of a screwed up movie yet it happened.

SOoooooo.... Im now touchy about politics all the way around.

Lastly, and again my apologies for getting nasty with words. I dont want to turn into those who hurt me.

In search of custody hearing advice ...

i don't have kids, but i recently found that someone with kids that lives in my town is also an ex-jw.

she just happened to post on an apostafest thread on facebook for an event that i attended, saw that we lived in the same place, and i met her for the first time tonight.

pretty cool.. she has a 14 year old boy that is super smart and very articulate.

14 is of legal age for a minor to testify. He could write a letter to the judge in his own behalf. Showing initiative might seen as a good step to have taken by the minor to the judge. Especially if the judge is avoiding or not wanting to have the minors testimony.

If shes not getting Child support, get the attorney general involved. There must be some sort of case worker assigned to the case(there always is). Records of missed payments please, at least. Sometimes an attorney general rep will come to a hearing. It usually spells trouble for the nonpaying father.

Approach it from the money angle that the state has to pay while the father does not. Judges usually do not like to have a record of having let a "non paying parent" just slide on by.

Id be cautious on the JW doctrines.

On that note one could add this scripture and tons of JW Literature on taking care of your family. Financially.

If the judge is religious, they may not "get it" even if explained.

I hit it concerning with blood issue. If son were to get injured,'no blood'. A valid concern for his potential safety. Keep it simple. To the point.

Also I really feel the boy needs to write a letter to the judge. Hes going to have to squeeze his voice in somehow. Legally he has one! It needs to find its way to the judges ear. That alone should do it.

It could easily be seen as ex-wife just wants to interfere in any "family""church" time to cause a ruckus.

This doesn't seem like a case to go to hardcore specifically after doctrine issues. The words can intertwine to easy with 'Christianity as a whole and a rebellious teen.'

She doesn't? Attorney general will if nothing else provide proof he has not been paying. They might even come to the hearing.

Also most people and courts are aware of the benefits of counseling for children of divorce. What about a school counselor? Could a school counselor write a recommendation for him to have professional counseling to help him cope with the divorce. Then argue that the father does not provide insurance to help cover that cost. Perhaps the mother in the mean time can find a therapist that can do a sliding fee for her and son just at least to have something documented in that area.

If cross examined issues I would hit are, blood, fear tactics, "shunning",(even if the father says that "shunning doesn't separate family's").

If the mother is at all believing in god, it seems reasonable that she might/ could approach (anything the father throws out there regarding religious stuff) from scriptures/ religious standpoint herself.

Has the minor listened to your podcasts? Might be a good idea. With mothers approval of course.

Look, I hunted my bio father down at 15 and got married 2 days before my 16 birthday. What I mean by that is this 14 year old has got a lot more power, Im thinking, than he knows.
