Update....Not That Anyone Cares
by 1234 inthis isn't a poor me thread.....just what is going on here in my small world.. since both my son and me own tour companies, when the lock down happened three weeks ago our businesses literally died over night.
we both depended on the tourist that come to phoenix and sedona, so that all went away as people stop taking vacations.
all future tours have been cancelled.. my son moved in with me two days ago, much to chagrin of his jehovah's witness mother.

I understand the feeling and situation. I was there and am swiftly headed back. Not to derail your post by any means.....Maybe it will make you feel better, idk.
When the 2008 recession hit I lost a land deal I had 10,000 invested in plus labor @ min wage (as a low ball figure to work with) easily another 10,000.
I too had my own business, a luxury service that dried up. Not to mention I worked at night two different restaurants alternating days.
In one week the land deal gone, my business, and both my other jobs.
Many businesses just closed. Like now. I was really connected in the art scene at the time and was quite the net worker. So I rounded up over 100 artist and threw 3 of the largest private silent auctions this area ever had, to help save two iconic and cornerstone businesses in town. It raised enough money to keep them both afloat for the next year. I housed several people and couples with kids for a while. Free no strings attached ever.
The crap icing on the cake was when I needed the help (literally a place to park my truck and camper) I was turned down by the very people I helped with housing. That drove the final nail in my coffin and I went crazy. Literally. The way I saw supposed friends back stab each other and me made me shut off. I probably will never fully trust another human again. Nor will I help one damn business stay afloat. I learned my lesson. I'll keep my eyes out for decent beings I just wont bank on it.
I survived because, well honestly I don't know how I did. I moved in the mountains. I was already living off the grid. It was a posh off the grid setting. Solar, backup deepcell batteries, generator, grey water system, fresh water delivered, propane for cooking, wood stove and internet due to the only "on the grid thing" I had a phone line. Oh and cell phone. (before smart phones). So I had some off grid experience just not Totally Off. So I moved deep in the mountains and just came in to town when I had a doc appointment and got groceries then. Man was I broken. And stayed that way for long time. Until recently, now this.
I plan on moving back into the mountains shortly. I don't want to but I may not have many options. Its the only skill that I have that others or at least 99% of people cant take from me, mimic or even actually do with out freaking out a few days in. I'm already scoping the next years worth of spots. The only real reason I have a storage is to keep those 'mountain supplies' just in case.Glad I didn't listen to people telling me that I don't need that stuff. Not sure about surviving this one but its more the initial shock for the first couple weeks in the mountains. Once that part is over it goes more smoothly. Also I expect I'll have at least some consulting work from my "Off the grid" consulting business. No guarantees.
Again, I didn't mean nor was it my intention to derail your post.
I just wanted you to know if I could go through that alone. You can get through this.
__________
Stan-how can you be expected to pay alimoney if you have no cash or income ? half of nothing--is nothing.
The states will stop at nothing. They don't care AT.ALL. It will just rack up if not paid. Unless the person receiving it is really understanding and commits to going back to court to amend it. It happens but not likely. Its a broken system. Unfair and unjust.
____________
New Boy/ Keith- I made some really crappy financial decisions last year when I was in full on grief mode. In hindsight I have no regrets barring one (which I refuse to discuss).
I like that Chinese proverb.
I like this one too- -“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
The only thing I really wanted from life anyway, was adventure. Wish granted! lol

It has the potential to get really crazy. In the USA 1/3 or more of families rent. 1/3 or more of Americans just lost their jobs. (nearing 100,000,000) so far. 1 hundred million. And many more who's hours got cut drastically.
Though there are eviction freezes in place in many states already. There are so many landlords who will evict anyway.
Yesterday, one of the local grocery stores I was at I got to talking to the manager and he was saying that many people are really afraid there will be ciaos and violence come rent time.
Two weeks ago when the state announced an eviction freeze the local big wig realtors office that owns the majority of rentals here sent out a letter and post it online to all their tenants saying that they will evict even if you have lost your job. There was such immediate public blow back that they retracted it the next day.(Dispite the fact the first couple round of bailouts will go first to them since they are an LLC.)
Many private home owners with rentals have said they will not honor the states no evict temporary law.
The court house is near closed anyway and could not handle a mass evict anyway. So on just the renting front that will be, scary, quite frankly.
I know no one wants to think about stuff like that, I certainly don't want to inject fear or panic, but its things people are talking about more and more as April nears.
We wont really know for sure until nearing mid April.

Cabin fever? I have that now and I was just coming out of my shell for the first time in years. Go figure.
I'm sure many have cabin fever right now.
What is sucking for me is that I have a friend that I started to hang out with. He and his wife are total social butterflies he hates being stuck in (I don't blame him). I happened to be in the same vicinity of someone telling him to stop visiting with every Tom, Dick and Harry and showing up to peoples houses as if nothing in the world is going on. It hurt his feeling pretty bad. But he really needed to hear it. Sucks for me cause he'd become my romping bud to go up into the mountains, rivers beaches ect, and find stuff to make or just explore.

So let me get this straight.........' Choose your apps wisely.'
I don't think this post was/is about Zoom specifically, but I found lots of things about Religions are turning to streaming and zoom is in the forefront. (sorry if I'm commenting this in the wrong spot)(probably could be its own post)idk
Yet they are using Zoom? The same platform many many "Worldly" Religions are using right now?
This might be a good thing to point out to any jws that think the GB (Chose wisely). lol

Interesting....
The Greater Northwest Area is helping by offering access to a Zoom Business account “at a heavily subsidized rate of $50” to local churches in the Alaska, Oregon-Idaho and Pacific Northwest conferences.
“We hope that Zoom will serve as a helpful tool for local churches to continue to meet in groups large and small, in worship and other forms of community,” said the Rev. David Valera, the Pacific Northwest’s executive director of connectional ministries.https://www.umnews.org/en/news/churches-adapting-to-covid-19-restrictions
There are many more articles on it.
I'm so glad the GB decided to finally blatantly join the ranks of FALSE religion! Again!

Do You Think Trump Is Doing.A Good Job Dealing With The Coronavirus?
by minimus inwho needs a press secretary when the president details what is happening every day to keep us informed?
i think he’s doing a very good job considering what is happening in the usa and the world..

Uzzah-a good leader edifies his experts. He has no background to handle this kind of situation and should be deferring to those with experience, expertise and knowledge while sending out supportive messaging echoing his experts.
If you actually listen to Trump outside of liberal media while he is not fending off dozens and dozens of reporters , he actually does give due credit where credit is due. He has said many times that the scientific experts know way more than he does. He constantly congratulates, and gives accolades to those very people. That gets drowned out by all the left media.
He was elected as a President not a scientist and has said as much.
Also to bring up past Presidents in comparison to how he's handling COVID-19 is a moot point. No one knows how any of them would have handled a global shutdown.
As far as Fauci is concerned, Fauci himself has said in interviews that the media is trying to pit the president against him when no such thing is occurring. On that note I suppose when Fauci is relieved of his duty people will say Trump fired him because (insert fake sensationalist liberal narrative) here.
I think it pretty dang benevolent of him to have just signed the bill the Democrats held up knowing it still gives the Dems what they wanted for the sake of moving the country forward.

If humans want to ever truly explore and THRIVE in space and on other planets, a global government will be necessary at some point.
As far as this virus, idk.
And as unpopular as this may be (especially to UK and North American way of thinking) We already are "global". Other wise we wouldn't outsource things to other countries and would have just kept our factories , farming, ect in our own countries.
In my opinion the race governments are in right now is to see who can rise to the top of this "global society".
We aren't there yet. But considering the governments have done a good job at effectively keeping people in place right now, I say its a hell of a start. And a heck of a good way to see where all the 'holes' are.
Probably wont happen in my lifetime, but its coming.
