@ scotsman-That 'Sword of Damocles" vid was interesting.
I used to listen to 'glory box' 'porteshead' a lot years ago. Nice to revisit music from the past sometimes.

7 years ago i had my last conversation with the toxic jw that mostly raised me.
every conversation was toxic for my entire adult life with her.
the last time we spoke was right before the memorial 7 years ago and she was laying on the usual heavy guilt and fear mongering about how jeho counts his people at the memorial.
I appreciate all the storys. All very real, touching, crazy making and traumatizing.
They just dont get it. They just dont get how toxic they can be. Its mind blowing. I'm no saint but damn, I wouldn't treat a rabid dog the way they can treat people from there own family.
@alecholmesthedetective- Its funny how there description of us "apostates' fits them to a tee , yet they are blind to see it.
The scripture about 'pulling the rafter out of your own eye before trying to extract the straw in your bother eye' is merely wasted breath in the wind for them.
been to see the new film (movie) tonight.
outstanding!
brought back lots of memories.

I suppose I had had enough and abruptly stopped her in mid sentence (not like the me she knew that would put up with it) then said in a voice she has never heard before and I could hear her jaw hit the floor as I had never stated my thoughts so firmly.
"That is the last time I will ever allow you to use fear as a tactic to scare me into going to the memorial or anything having to do with you or the rest of the family, no more, it stops here, the cycle stops with me!" Click. I hung up and have never talked to her since. It felt liberating and I knew it was the last time we would speak. No contact.
Does anyone else have last words they told their jw fam? Or an especially toxic one? How did you feel?
the circuit overseer, henry judson, came up to me during the circuit assembly.
"brother miller, it's been reported that your family may have a pumpkin in your window.
" he waited for an answer although he never asked a question.
There is something fundamentally wrong with having to explain a pumpkin in or around someones house in the season pumpkins are harvested.
There's nothing like being 7 years old and having your jw guardian explaining in detail to the cashier that the baking pumpkin she was buying was for pumpkin custard and not a pagan holiday , like the cashier gave a sh&%. But I'm standing there watching it all unfold and realized that she(the jw) sounded like a retarded babbling buffoon.
Ahh memories.
alright, so what is the deal with the thousands coming to the states right at election time seeking asylum?
i'm not up on this, usually try not to be, but how can this not be manipulative?
it's either manipulative in the size of the group and pressure that creates, or in where it started or who started this, etc.

Dubstepped-I don't know, but it would be interesting to hear from a more liberal view what this is all about without people shutting down or just poo-pooing a discussion of it.
Agreed, but that may not be reasonable considering the current climate.
Also one of the biggest shock factors about being 'worldly' vs 'jw' is that jws teach that they have the only world wide brotherhood and truth, yet there is just as much back biting and gossip in the borg as in the 'world'. No different. They just say it is.
At least in the real world you one has a certain logical guard up that jws don't have in the borg because they actually think that it doesn't happen in their fantasy org. (until it happens to them)
I know tons of people that cannot handle the political climate at all, jdub or not.
I do think that it is necessary to examine whether or not a post made here is one someone can bear to comment on. Personally, sometimes I can sometimes I cant.
As far as the caravan, they have always come. Id say the media is doing its job like usual of dividing and stretching and contorting the truth of the matter beyond what should seem appropriate. All stops and misinformation will be pulled before any election.
just my 2 cents.
in the real world, very few parents would disown their own children simply because they read a magazine that told them to do it.
very few people would forever completely ignore their own parents because an elder got up on a platform one day and announced that they no longer follow the same religion as you.. in the real world it just doesn't happen.
and yet, for 8 million jehovah's witnesses it's very a normal part of their world to treat "other people" differently than they'd treat each other.
oneeyedjoe- I'm really confused by your post. You're the last person I would've expected to have such a drastic misunderstanding of what PE was trying to do with his post that I find it difficult not to think that you either didn't read it or that you're intentionally trolling.
Well Simon cant cuddle and burp us all.
I found his comment off putting but also count it as a guard against sensationalism. Where this post could easily go. (or might still go)
I agree with just about everything everyone has said here viewing it through multiple lenses. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
