  Is 1914 still a major belief in JW land ? Or has it been abandoned ?

  i just wonder about this topic as it is now 109 years since that date and what was expected to take place has never happened ..

  My old congregation is being shuttered

  i just found out from my jehovah's witness cousin that my old congregation is being shuttered due to lack of elders, less than 20 members attending, and that the congregation cannot meet their monthly expenses.. here is a congregation that was started in 1975 with less than 15 members.

  it grew to 185 members in the 1990's.

  the congregation grew so large that the elders decided to split the congregation in two.

  Wow! Sad state of WT these days. Same happened to my old cong in 2018. Two neighbouring congs merged because they both lost half their members. This religion is sinking fast

  for some my view can be unacceptable for others can be useful.

  in fact it can be answer to the question: why am i still even bother what's is going on in this obviously corrupt organization?

  scholar and fisherman, i started this thread because i didn't want to highjack the one in regard to 588/568.. i just wanted to ask if you were both current active jw's that believe the jw's beliefs?.

  do y'all believe the gb are the f&ds?

  if the answers are no, then why do y'all defend so passionately the date 607?

  I find it curious that Scholar seems to avoid topics other than 607 and 1914.

  Why don't you discuss the trumpet blasts Scholar? Do you belive they have anything to do with Conventions such as 1922 Cedar Point Ohio etc?

  1914 is bogus for so many reasons. Jesus told us told his disciples that he was already king in the 1st century.

  Matthew 28:18 - Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

  Simple. No need for any complicated JW interpretations. End of discussion.

  AwakenJw website has put together a timeline for Jurusalems destruction and related prophecies. As you can see there is no magical 20 year gap. Its literally impossible.

  Scholar, i thought WT doesnt interpret Type/Antitypes anymore?

  "The clearest course is this: Where the Scriptures teach that an individual, an event, or an object is typical of something else, we accept it as such. Otherwise, we ought to be reluctant to assign an antitypical application to a certain person or account if there is no specific Scriptural basis for doing so"

  Daniel chapter4 makes no mention of anything other than Neb. So why doesn't WT follow its own direction? Possibly because there wouldnt be an organisation without 1914? No 1914, no 1919, no GB
