I forgot to touch on the Patriot act. Do you realize that 98 Senators voted for this, and ONLY 1 did not? Also approved by the House, a Democratic ruled House of Reps. (I know you said you're not a democrat). I'm not a huge fan of this myself, but I know one thing. I don't do anything wrong, so why should I worry? I was caught up in the mess in NY on the 11th, and I know that I don't ever want to witness something like that again (I know, it's inevitable). So, tap my phone line, I don't give a crap because I'm not breaking the law. Just leave me my guns to protect my family (Thank Your Mr. Bush) The brunt of the Patriot Act is to crack down on immigrants.....Go for it, as a matter of fact build a big wall and keep them out. Things are a mess and our freedom here has been compromised by our allowing God knows who to enter our Borders. Yes, I know, we have terror within, so does everyone, but why invite more? I saw the Muslims dancing in our streets after the death of so many innocent people (including children) from around the world (no offense to anyone that wasn't cheering). It makes me sick. My children have friends who lost their parent(s), neighbors who are with us no longer. So, will the Patriot Act help? I hope so, and if I have to give up a little privacy to save even one life, so be it. They're watching and tapping already, so what's the difference? Are you naive enough to believe that they haven't been all these years? Now they can actually use this information, and these degenerates won't be able to hide behind their walls anymore, even their Church walls!

Trauma:
You mean like bush is doing with the Patriot act? But I suppose throwing our civil rights out the door is ok by you then? Your a hypocrit. I myself am neither democrat or republican. I would have voted for John McCain if I had a choice, however Gore was the lesser of two evils. If you want to talk about coups, bush pulled a coup de etat, bush is not the rightful president.
Finally we agree! I am not a Hypocrite, I resent the statement. I like Bush (so Shoot me). I do however agree with you on McCain, he's done wonderful things for Arizona, and he'd have made a wonderful President. As a matter of fact, had he been Bush's running mate, what a wonderful thing that would have been. A shoe in for the Presidency in 8 years, and a heavy influence on the President for the next 8 years (6 now?). McCain would not have been a sit down VP like Chaney, he'd have had a voice and a say, because he's the type of man to enforce that right. Listen, I don't claim that Bush is this great being here to save the world, I don't claim he has all the answers and I don't claim he knows how to pronounce Nuclear. I imagine that anytime you support one person over others, it's a case of choosing the lesser evil. They're Politicians, what does that tell you?
As for the Florida vote: GIVE ME A FRIGGIN BREAK!
That vote has been tallied and tallied and tallied, guess who wins every time? You know who does, and you know he took Florida far and square but it didn't fit into your little world because you were one of the whiners crying about your precious Gore. If the shoe was on the other foot, you'd have felt Gore was vindicated in Florida (had the vote been switched). You are the Hypocrite! All I did was say that Gore made that statement (I won't quote it again, it's old), that's it! And then I got hammered for making a factual statement. How's that for losing your civil rights??
You asked for proof - I gave it to you
You claimed he was instrumental in creating the Arpanet (loosely quoted) - I showed you where you were wrong, point blank.
Now you're upset because you were wrong and you'll take any straw you can get to attack me personally and intellectually.
It won't work, anyone that can't do math and realize Gore was no-where near the Arpanet deal has no right to call me names or insult my intelligence.

Hey Rev Malik, If you want to partake of vilifying a man's character based on distortion and outright lies, that's on you. On the other hand, you shouldn't expect that some people won't call you on it and expose what you're doing.
Personally, I hope that I never fall for or participate in such fascistlike tactics.
You're a barrel of laughs. First of all you have no clue what you're even talking about, second of all, I could care less because you know what? The lying piece of crap never made it to office, thank the Lord Almighty. He was/is a racist, lying Pig that belongs nowhere near Washington.
And expose what I'm doing?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
You act as if I'm trying to pull off some kind of coup for someone who's not even in office, nor ever will be!
Expose away my dear board mate, for you cannot expose what's not hidden. You are a typical Democrat, bash the guy that has an opinion, one step away from being a friggin commie. You want to take away my guns and freedom of speech as well? You want to turn the Good ol USA into Cuba (or is it Cuber?). You want to know what would happen to the United States under a democratic rule? Read up on Cuban History. The same exact tactics that the Democrats use now were used in Cuba. First they take your guns, then after that your freedom of speech, and then, and then, and then.....

Haha, this is hilarious. If it were the GB or any JW for that matter that stated: "I took the initiative in creating the Internet" , You'd be all over them. It's funny how all that works.
Ok, you know what? I, Revmalk, have taken the initiative in creating the Internet!
Hell, you know what, all of us here have because we've produced, or created our posts here on Simon's site. As a matter of fact, I'm going to add that to the front page of my web site and in the yellow pages, think it will get me more customers or make me a laughing stock?
The simple fact of the matter is Gore was not even out of College OR elected to the House until 8 years AFTER the Arpanet was created. You can rationalize how you wish, and you can smoke screen, whatever floats your boat, but you can't change history and you can't change fact.
I know I said I rest my case, but I had this thought and couldn't shut up. We can hold Pastor Russell and all these other idiots up to a different standard, and we can complain when the Watchtower says "We didn't mean that literally"....."We said it would be safe to assume the end would be here...", but then when it comes to someone else we have a whole new rule book. The fact of the matter is, we know that for the 1975 theory at least, they did make disclaimers, they did make statements like "We can assume....", or "It would be wise to assume.....", etc etc etc. But we know what they were trying to do, they were trying to make us believe one thing while leaving a loophole to say they meant another when it all came out. So don't you think that Gore would have been more wise to have said "I was instrumental in furthering the effort for a worldwide computer network", or "My work at congress contributed to the Internet's rapid growth!". Then he'd have been fine, and if Bush argued the point he'd had been at a loss, because this statement is honest, factual and not misleading. But it just doesn't sound as good as "I took the initiative in creating the Internet"
I rest my case for real this time. I know none of this matters, Gore never made it to the Presidency (Thank God). And I really only needed to argue the point because I was told I was wrong :)
I'd also like to point out that I have never made a statement on this board claiming to be some kind of genius. My opinions are my opinions and I can be just as wrong as the next person. But they are my opinions, and it can never be wrong to have one, it's our right.
By the way Trauma, I want you to know that I don't mean to be argumentative with you, I've read your posts before and at least for the ones I've seen, I enjoyed your opinions whether I agreed with them or not. I see you're from Seattle, what a wonderful place! I used to live out there, in the burbs, loved every minute of it including the rain and overcast skies!
Also, to Mulan, I'm sorry to take up so much space in your thread on a subject not even pertaining to your original topic. So, in case anyone has missed that or forgotten by now, I'll throw it back out there:

Hey, that's me!
My sister is n there too, but can't find her. That's my wonderful soulmate, and my two beautiful children are in there too somewhere. Which reminds me, does anyone have the broadcast from the spanish station? They followed my daughter close up for like a block or so, I'm wondering if she made it on TV. My brother made me proud that day, he stuck his lamb in the fence and everyone followed suit, it was great!
Uh-oh, I'm still wearing those same clothes, have I been sitting here this long???

But it will emerge from my dialogue with the American people. I've traveled to every part of this country during the last six years. During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.
Exactly. At the very least he was implying that he was there from the beginning, the creation. Supporting the Internet, (which he did), and even pushing forward with an already created Invention, is NOT in any way shape or form taking the initiative in creating the net. Perhaps I should have used "Created" instead of "Invented" (shame on me), but yet aren't they basically one in the same?
I rest my case
Wow Mulan, I'm impressed with this thread. So far a 5 pager!

Kennedy saying Cuber and Americer, were regional accents. Pronouncing nulear wrong is not an accent..........it's a mistake.
Mulan, I personally don't have a clue why the dude speaks the way he does. I'm no Bush expert, or Political expert. However, it's been mentioned that President Carter (horrible President, GREAT Person) also pronounced Nuclear in the same fashion. Is it possible, both being southerners, that it is in fact an accent? Like I said, I don't know, but maybe?
On a similar note, I know my own Father is very intelligent, yet pronounces ITALY like "IT-LEE"
He's still a smart guy, can't take that away from him.

Really, and where did he do that? Actually if you knew anything about the history of the internet, you would know that Al Gore, was one of the first Senators to push funding through for the Arpanet, which is what was the internet in the beginning.
Hmmmm, I know a Tad-Bit about the internet, I'm a web developer by trade.
Here we go:
In a March 1999 interview with Wolf Blitzer, Gore said, "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."
Preliminary discussions of how the ARPANET would be designed began in 1967, and a request for proposals went out the following year. In 1969, the Defense Department commissioned the ARPANET.
Gore was 21-years-old at the time. He wasn't even done with law school at Vanderbilt University. It would be eight more years before Gore would be elected to the US House of Representatives as a freshman Democrat with scant experience in passing legislation, let alone ambitious proposals.
By that time, file copying, via the UUCP protocol, was beginning. Email was flourishing. The culture of the Internet was starting to develop through the Jargon File and the SF-Lovers mailing list.
Did he take a lead in promoting the expansion and technological advances of the internet as we know it today? Sure, as far as legislation goes, but years and years later. Was he behind even a minute amount of the technology we see here today (as far as "hands on"), Absolutely not.
Getting on the super highway 50 exits down doesn't allow you to lay claim to any invention. Yes, I know you'll come back with "But he clarified and said he didn't mean that literally....." Of course he did, at the very least an implication.
"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."

Ya, I guess that rings a bell. I don't know how true or not it is, but it sounds about right to me. I retract my earlier statements, and apologize, I can't argue the point.

Hell
by freedom96 infor those of you that still believe in the bible, or god, i have a question:.
the witnesses teach that there is no such thing as a fiery hell, where a person is tormented forever.
that is about the only thing that i still kind of believe from all their teachings.. i have a hard time believing that a god of love would torment anyone forever.

uhhh, 1998 came already?
Dragon,
Is that in NM? I ended up on that road late one night. Don't even know how I did it, especially since I was supposed to be in AZ, AND there's only two roads in the 4 corners area, haha. Anyway, picked up this dog, then he immediately threw up a cat onto my road atlas....And he only knew Najavo, I had to learn a whole new language to communicate with my cat eating dog from Hell.

666
by ThiChi ineverything you wanted to know about 666 but were afraid to ask!.
the number 666, first made famous by the book of revelation (chapter 13, verse 18), has also been studied by mathematicians because of its many interesting properties.
here is a compendium of mathematical facts about the number 666. most of the well-known "chestnuts" are included, but many are relatively new and have not been published elsewhere.
