guess the overlapping generation concept is difficult for most to comprehend.

I like to think of myself as a Christian. Not a very good one but I do try. There are aspects of the faith that I do find a little nutty ( like all the animals in the world getting on a big boat ) and I not going to claim that I have all the answers.

Another crazy thing is there is demon/angel named Satan. Like there is a man in a red suit with horns with a pitchfork trying to make me do bad things.

Sometimes I am ready to totally dismiss it , then something like this comes along where you can see such a blasphemous mockery of god himself and it makes you wonder. Like this is so stupid , there just has to be a supernatural presence behind it.

Just my two cents.

at the 42:30 minute mark she states "i cannot believe it crossed my mind...to look on jw dating sites".

guess a new unwritten rule is added to the many oral traditions of these pharisees.

I had a grandpa that was 20 years older than my grandma. The last 20 years of their marriage , they went from husband and wife to nurse and patient.

What a horrible thing Mr. Jackson did that poor young lady. She is also good looking, you can really tell what he was looking for in a mate. Not exactly a stand up move.

What an asshole, he has the nerve to tell someone how to meet a mate and what they should be looking for.

EXACTLY Why JW's Are NOT Christian

a lot of people, ex-jws, believers and unbelievers alike, think that jw's are just a somewhat kooky brand of christianity.

is it possible to "try and follow jesus" and not be christian?

what exactly makes someone a christian?

Christianity is a belief that

Jesus was the manifestation of god in the flesh
You are saved by grace, not works, but god doesn’t want an empty faith.
You become a born again Christian, you enter into the new covenant.

Catholic, Anglican, Baptist etc etc……….it is all the same.

JW are a belief

Only 144,000 enter into the new covenant the bible can only be understood by seven magical men in Brooklynn. Essentially only 7 seven in Brooklyn enter into the new covenant.
Only though your works and obedience to the magical slave can you you be saved from the impending Armageddon.

I can’t say I am really much of a biblical scholar but man you would think if that was god’s plan for humanity, you would think the bible would be pretty consistent in this teaching. Outside of the parable of the faithful and discreet slave ( which is a freakin parable ) , there really is nothing in the bible about this arrangement.

The idea what is and isn’t Christian is just a matter of opinion is not true. Now if you don’t believe in the bible, that is fine but don’t say the JWs have any legitimate theology here. What they teach is utterly stupid.

When ever I see the term " Accurate knowledge " it just gives me the creeps. It sounds like something out of a North Korea re-education camp.

I swear JWs are more about disproving the bible than actually teaching sometimes.

I have posted this before but CO visits are like when you watch the first two Star Wars movies and think Darth Vader is the biggest dickhead in the whole galaxy and you then watch " Return of the Jedi " and realize the emperor is even a bigger asshole than Darth Vader.

i popped into the supermarket for a few things after work today and found myself walking up an aisle alongside a couple who used to be in my tuesday group.

i see them reasonably often and always say hello much to their obvious annoyance.

i noticed that ian was sporting a shaggy beard.

What I have always wondered , do you think the average C.O knows how to write a check, check the oil in a car, do a minor home repair, change a tire, do a basic mathematical equation, operate a power tool.

I go to a church where the pastor has a master’s degree in Computer programming with a minor in mathematics. He just felt he had a higher spiritual calling.

You ever hear that kind of story with a C.O ? Most just dropped out of school at 16 and have been pioneers ever since. They seem to have gotten the job because they are too useless to actually survive in the real world.

I often picture COs as S.S officiers in the last days of ww2 makings sure old men and young children fight to the death for Hitler even though they knew the war was lost.

Most are literally the most useless humans I have ever met. Never worked, usually a grade ten education, couldn't pass an entry level Christian theology level university class. Usually with a wife dumber than a bag of shit.

I have never met one I have ever had any respect for.

JW to SDA anyone do it ?

a couple friends pointed me to some info on the sabbath and i just plain like it, being the workaholic i am it's a lifesaver for me and gives me the motivation to be more balanced about my business and work schedule.

so from there i looked into the adventists and found a hall near my place and went last week.

i honestly enjoyed myself and the meeting time is not disruptive and the people were great and pretty laid back.

I have been to an SDA church a few times before. It is generally pretty cool. Some of the references to Ellen White are kind of nutty. I thought they didn’t do that but I guess they do.

Still they don’t really believe in the whole body of Christ thing and believe you are saved though your domination, only your membership in the SDA will save you in the end. They don’t do the whole interfaith thing.

At the end of the day they don’t ruin families and destroy lives like the WTS and I guess that is all that really matters.

Witness behavior in my gym ....

about two months ago two very attractive ladies in their mid 30's signed on at one of the gyms i belong to.

for a while i noticed them watching me and naturally i assumed they were taking an interest in how i went about training my clients since many do before they decide to approach me and inquire about my services (i own a health and fitness consultancy).. sure enough one of them approached me a few weeks back and asked me for a business card, inquired about rates and various other aspects involved with signing on with me.

i handed her a card and explained that my client schedule was full but she should consider signing on with one of my personal trainers who still had some open spots available.

I grew up in a normal evangelical church. About half the people who attended each Sunday were baptized members and about half were people who just attended. I know I never really paid that much attention to what was going but I never ever heard stories of infinity , there was hardly any divorced people and absolutely no kiddie diders.

Of course there are former members who fell away but it’s not like anyone ever gets removed. Chances are if you are going to pursue a career in porn or develop a coke habit, you will be long gone before any elder talks to you.

All I ever hear about with the JW is the high standard of cleanliness they hold their members too and at the same time all these terrible things happening.

How come the self-proclaimed morally cleanest people on earth seem to have all this terrible things on?

P.S- You should have nailed her. She gets disfellowed. Finds freedom from the cult. It would have been very Christian of you.
