John Lennon wasn’t really that good a person on a personal level. I have always thought that was kind of Ironic.

35 Years Ago Today - John Lennon - Peace Advocate was Murdered
by flipper inin this age of violence with the san bernardino and france massacres sometimes it's good to reflect on the wise words of the peace advocates among us who proposed a better solution in bringing a more civil society to our universe.
john lennon, martin luther king jr. - people who stood up for equal rights and world peace and denounced violence and war - no matter how that violence occurs.
please feel free to comment on stories of john lennon on this thread and feel free to post any you tubes of his music that you may have enjoyed through the years.

Closest to the truth?
by punkofnice ini know many jws that state that the watchtower corporation is the 'closest to the truth'.
thus they quiet their cognitive dissonance.. i don't have access to a corporation library any more.
is this a stance that the watchtower corporation has actually claimed?.

I have always found it funny that average JW feels this superiority to the average Christian because they believe they have figure out all the prophetic books of the bible but in no way shape or form could they even start to explain the bamboozle.
When you entire faith becomes about trying to find codes and prove the bible was changed, it becomes silly.

Muslims vs. JWs as friends
by Driving Force inthis is not meant to be a controversial discussion, but just mentioning what has happened to my daughter.. i personally started my fade early this year 2015, it has resulted in my losing all my so called jw friends and the brake-up of my marriage.
when i split up with my wife, she asked our daughter who she would like to live with, my daughter decided to live with me, and also abandoned the cult.. recently my daughter told me that she is very disappointed with the congregation of jehovah's witnesses because she thought she had friends there, but now she has realized that it was all conditional, not a single one of them has even remotely tried to keep contact with my daughter, she is 15, not baptized and never a publisher.. now yesterday she met up with a jehovah's witness friend who is in another congregation.
this friend is also 15, baptized since she was 14, a very dominant elder father, and has virtually no association outside jw circles, and also internet access is banned at home.

I think being becoming a JW is kind of like becoming a smoker. If they haven’t got you by the time you are 18, they just aren’t going to get you.
Please get her involved in something. Playing sports, playing music, going to another church etc etc . You are so close to having her free. She will make other friends.

Are single sisters happier?
by Esmeralda001 inthis question is for the ladies out there, but if you are a man and you'd like to share your thoughts on the following topic you are welcomed to do so.
given the wt society's view on women, did any of you ladies gave up on the idea of getting married "in the truth".
in such case, did you sometimes feel that you were missing out?

Marry whoever you want. They will get over it in time.
Plus it also puts some distance between you and the ubers.
I think secretly my wife is glad I am not in. It protects my son from the blood issue. Some elder isn't going to talk him into being a pioneer/janitor the rest of his wife. I am not going to beat the crap out of her and pull the headship card either and accuse her of not being a good dub.

The Elders are Coming Help!
by LaurenM inso the elders keep bugging me and pestering me about having a meeting with them to "introduce me to my new congregation" for some reason (do any ex elders know what that even means??).
i keep postponing and making excuses and they are getting more and more aggressive.
i finally agreed for them to come over today, but really don't want to..should i hide from them again?

The biggest busy body in our hall is a pioneering elder who runs his own cleaning service. The funny thing I don’t actually know if he has any contracts. I am pretty sure he would starve to death if it wasn’t for his wife. I don’t even think he makes 10,000 dollars a year.
I think my wife has somewhat woken up to the stupidity of how some of these people live. Nearly 50 years old, still renting, no children, no retirement savings.
It is really easy to always be in everyone’s shit when you absolutely nothing else going on in your life.

I asked my wife in her 20 plus years of fs if she ever got into some odd or deep theological debates or discussions.
She said no.
I found that depressing.

I was in the KH once with my wife and carrying my NIV and started to get some unwanted attention from the witnesses. One asked to see my bible and flipped to the book of john , right to chapter one and she was “ The word was a god, not god “. She was a real uber bitch type.
I then asked her to explain the book of John and what makes it different than the other gospels ?
She looked at me like she had seen a ghost.
I later went on to explain to her how the book of john unlike the other gospels deals with the issue the person of Jesus Christ and who he really was. I started to point out to her some of the I AM statements and old testament quotes and who the author thought Jesus was.
She just walked away and later told the elders.
I am hardly a theologian but I think it is good to study the bible in terms of context and audience. It’s not a matter of passing or failing. It to have enough brains to know when someone is creating dogma by cherry picking verses.

Being a Christian means you become a member of Christ's church or the body of christ.
I wouldn't sweat the details man. No denomination is going to save you. If you want to be a Catholic , it's all good.

I have often it strange that people with a serious religion education on both a secular and spiritual level aren't lining up to become jehovah witnesses.
Has anyone either heard of a pastor, priest or professor of theology becoming a jehovah witness?
