I have listened to some of Richard Dawkins debates and when asked about the qualities that make us as human (creativity, personality, abstract thinking, and moral judgment) he always turns into a theist.

“Just because we don’t know today doesn’t mean science won’t figure it out in the future “.

I have that answer quite unsettling. No amount of copy and paste about our DNA or common ancestor and whatever which change the fact in a relatively short period of time or milli-second in evolutionary terms can explain who one species went from cave paintings to putting a man on the moon.

Evolution doesn’t explain an orderly universe with suitable physical laws, A fine-tuned universe, including initial conditions and physical parameters necessary for carbon-based life, a suitable planet, such as Earth, orbiting a suitable star and capable of supporting life and the existence of life in the first place. It also doesn’t explain the self-awareness of man and how one creature seems to have domain over this planet.

Believing in something that exists outside of time and space isn’t really as unreasonable as it sounds.

Theism is more about the why, science is more about the how.

Witnesses killed my friend today.

today has been a horrible day.

what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.

i was in shock and didn't ask how.

Sometimes I question what I believe. It doesn't seem logical to believe in something that can't be understood in the realms of time and space and I don't claim to have all the answers.

Then I read something like this and it makes sense to me. There is something supernaturally evil leading the watchtower and tract society. I can't explain it, I just know it is there.

Facing evil makes you believe in god. Aleast for me. There is a special place in hell waiting for the magical seven.

How do you feel about the expression "The Truth"?

it's amazing how the expression "the truth" has become such an ingrained term used by witnesses.. "we have 'the truth'".

"is he 'in the truth'?".

most here have found out so many facts about the organisation, and felt the effects of being "gut-punched" as we realised these facts.. so how do you feel about the expression "the truth" now?.

I often wonder how much troll factor there is in being a JW or are they really that oblivious to how pompous and arrogant they are. When calling yourself the truth you are basically calling everyone else in a fake religion.

Not matter what any kind of discussion with a JW you have it all ends up in the exact same place

they were vital to our distant ancestors but in humans, as in our primate cousins they have been allowed to fall into disuse as our eyes became more important to our survival than our nose.

If you want to a have a discussion about the implications of how the theory of evolution changed how you feel about religion or the such, go ahead. That is the reason this forum exists.

The problem I have is you are pretending you are an actual scientist while what you really are is just another windbag militant atheist proselytizing. Proselytizing in any form is just annoying on this board.
