There is no right and wrong

so i am a little tangled up in this train of thought, as it can go quite deep.. as a jw, albeit fully awake, we are taught that there is right and a wrong.

smoking is wrong.

going on the ministry is right.

When I was 18 ( just before the internet ) I watched a video called “ the many faces of death “ and there was a medical video of a 24 week abortion. Till this day it is one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen.

Now was it disturbing because I grew up in a church or because I am a human with a conscience. How many people would be protesting in the street if they saw the video I saw.

I like to think people are hardwired to not do things like torture animals or have sex with children or let your children die over blood transfusions but man sometimes I wonder.

When you learn about the fall of the Roman empire, or the evils of Communism , I still believe religion has a role as a moral compass.

With all the WT's eschatology and prophetic interpretation, why is there no mention of Islam?

you'd think that the third major abrahamic religion would be of interest to the witnesses and their fanciful interpretation of just about anything written in the bible, especially with the white-hot relevance islam has in current affairs and the middle east.

not only that, islam had a huge influence on european history, with conquering armies and direct control over jehovah's supposed holy city of jerusalem.. american christian fundamentalists trip over themselves trying to connect all the dots in scripture so why hasn't the watchtower society?

The WTS society subscribe to something called “replacement theology “ where they have replaced themselves with the physical nation of Israel or Jewish people in god’s plan.

The WTS avoids using reference to Islam and what is happening in the middle east because

They are chickenshit
The bible really falls more in line with Evangelical views of end times involving Israel, Iran, Russia etc etc.
The WTS is more about attacking Christianity than trying to convert people from other religions. People in other religions are already dead, no need to doom them . ( ha ha ha , look at me going all 700 huntley street on your pagan asses).

Booklet exposing Trinity Brochure

there was a booklet that exposed the errors, deceptions and misquotes in the trinity brochure.

i think it was called something like "why should you believe 'should you believe the trinity'" or something like that lol.

it went through the society's brochure page by page, quote by quote and gave full sources etc.. does anyone know if it's still available, preferably an online copy?.

What is with JWs and this obsession with the trinity? Even the ones who have left the borg still think they have one up on people because they don’t believe in it.

When you look at the plurality of god in the Old Testament, the identity of the Angel of Lord in the old testament, the claims of Jesus Christ and how the old testament quotes are used later applying to both Jesus and his father it is pretty clear that somehow they co-existed as Jehovah, LORD, Yaweh . Oh yeah, the fact the phrase heavenly father Jehovah is never found in the bible either.

Now if you want to say the bible is complete bullshit , fine you may have an argument but to plainly deny what is written seems kind of silly.

Switching Halls

it's time for me and the mrs. to get the hell outta dodge.

recently my hall has undergone major management changes and the atmosphere is..less than ideal.

i'm getting multiple calls a week asking to set up a time to meet, i've politely declined but these guys aren't taking a hint.

My wife tried that when having trouble with a certain elder that till the congregation finally merged with the one she was hiding in.

Moved to another city, started to have the same problem and tried the same thing and that congregation merged with the one she was hiding in again.

The growth of Jehovah peoples is amazing.

Man, the Simpsons were so good from about 1991 to 2001. I really have no interest in the new ones.

How does the WTS get rid of demons ? Is there like a special C.O that doubles as exorcist ?

I imagine the WTS feels kind of bad that freaky stuff only happens to other denominations of false religion, so I assume they are just lying.

To me there are literally times people make such stupid and blasphemous comments about the magical seven replacing Jesus, it almost seems like there is an evil entity behind it. I keep expecting the WTS reader's head to do a 360 and start puking pea soup sometimes.

The other day me and the wife were watching survivor man on television and she said " pay attention, we might need these skills during the great tribulation " and I replied " no need, I am going to be raptured out of here".

She looked at me kind of dumbfounded. You mean other religions talk about this kind of stuff too.

I thought it was kind of funny.

Given the fact the U.N isn't in the process of banning all religions while the JWs are holding there own, I don't know how the average DUB kind really get excited about this kind of stuff.
