As a "deep PIMO" I can say that there is a confirmed re-branding. The coordinators committee formed a focus group from Service and Teaching committees. The results of that group roughly three+ years ago, with GB approval, trickled down to the other committees and eventually into what we have been seeing before our eyes in the org and local congs.
Pick an organizational level and see the shift. Sure there are the little blips of GB spouting off with some charts and doctrine mumbo jumbo or CO's yacking about Porn at the Elders/MS meetings. But from the top Warwick brass down to the CO's, Elders schools, and even the Pioneer School I assisted the CO in conducting 2 weeks ago, the shift is clear.
For instance, think a couple years back...no more Type and Anti-Type:
"Humans cannot know which Bible accounts are shadows of things to come and which are not. The clearest course is this: Where the Scriptures teach that an individual, an event, or an object is typical of something else, we accept it as such. Otherwise, we ought to be reluctant to assign an antitypical application to a certain person or account if there is no specific Scriptural basis for doing so."
Fast forward. At the end of an entire week of pioneer school If I were to tell you the main theme and take away it was: "Be a friend and just have a conversation about what is important to them. No literature required just bible or tablet in hand. Feel what they feel. Be a friend" I know i know, be a friend and suck them into our cult, but nevertheless nowhere in a week of class was that caveat mentioned.
During the visit of the CO a few weeks back in our cong he specifically stated when considering the Elder/MS appointments: "At the branch's direction we're not going to even look at the PRC's of these men. I want to hear about what your relationship with them as spiritual men is like in your own words as if they were sitting right beside you now. Forget the numbers."
Happy family branding is everywhere and the days of focus on prophecy, gaggles of numbers, stacks of books, comparison of PRC cock sizes, ect...is fading away in so many ways.
At the end of the day, its still a dangerous cult. Period.
But how does this shift affect the way we get our families out? The way we ourselves don't question the mental (and physical for many) liberation we have gone through?

Do KHs lock their doors when meeting starts now?
by NikL inmy still in wife informed me this morning that she must be on time to the meeting as they are locking the door when it starts now.. i said that's crazy.
she said it's because of the times we are living in.. we live in a rural area and crime isn't terrible though it's worse than it used to be.. i told her if that's the way it is then why bother leaving the house at all?.
she said they are just trying to be safe.. is this a thing now?

There are no armed appointed JW's at meetings or assemblies sanctioned by the WT.
Whether to lock doors during meetings, have an alarm system, video monitoring, peppermint scented urinal cakes in the bathroom urinals, ect... Its all up to the individual operating committees within each KH.

The posting above got me to thinking yesterday so this morning over coffee (and missing Sat morning service where we do usually do 4 RV's and Dunkin Doughnuts) I brought up the subject.
My wife said that she would let our minor children die vs. approving a blood transfusion.
I said, "If we were to go to the meeting tomorrow and in the WT new light came out that blood transfusions were now a personal decision, would you still let our children die?"
Answer = "No. I'd allow the transfusion with a clear conscience."
Am I missing something here? If this isn't the epitome of mind control what the hell is?

This topic must have really been making the rounds as I heard this version in the SE USA:
JW parents expecting their first child were getting the new nursery all ready. They put up wallpaper (this had to be the 80's right?) that had Smurfs printed on it. Baby born and when sleeping on its own in its own crib started screaming horribly one night, blood curdling screams...parents rushed down the hall and into the room, turned on the lights and behold....little red bite marks all over the baby's exposed skin! Gasp! then they noticed....you guessed it friends, the Smurf's once permanently printed on the wallpaper were all now gone. Little evil demons.
Why would we welcome such Satanic influence into our home?

by Simon inseems like such an obviously correct decision to overturn the previous overreach - it should never have been necessary to go to the supreme court but happened because the rights of the religious were being ignored.. as the fundamental level, no one should be able to compel you to work for them or to provide services that go against your beliefs, and certainly not have the government be able to force you to comply.. if this was allowed there would be so many unreconcilable situations that would clog up courts over nonsense.. i also have little patience for these activists that intentionally look to be offended.
it really doesn't do their cause any good to go round looking to make trouble for people.

flipper: I'm so sorry you were abused as a child and I'm sorry to hear the WT made you sweep child abuse under the rug. You weren't the only elder who was told to do that, so don't be too hard on yourself. The main thing is you know it was wrong now and now is all we have to change our lives and the lives of others.
Thank you for that. $140 bucks an hour for a PhD continues to help me though the being hard on myself part. I cant speak for other PIMO or POMO elders but the biggest pain is knowing what the victim went through, crying with them and their families, being in a position to truly be worth the supposed "double honor" and consciously knowing my hands were tied.
As both the chairman of abuse JC's and appeal JC's: The last few years felt like going under the knife under anesthesia but still feeling everything. Often tears shed in the KH backroom or the victims living room was pain that the protocol I was following was to save my arse vs. truly being a tender protective shepherd. My God some of the cases, emotions, sickening acts against children Ill take to my grave. To this day it affects how i trust (or lack thereof) others, esp the ones around my own children whether Im at the kingdom hall, town hall, or in a vauxhall. Completely life changing.
