  I was at the Mercedes Benz stadium for a ATL UNITED game before the International Convention and there were 70,000 there for that event. There were only 47,000 JW's in attendance for the convention, nowhere near capacity. The top ring was closed off.

  Sadly a longtime elder (who wayyy back went over one set of my baptism questions) died suddenly right as the the afternoon countdown timer was approaching 0 minutes on Sunday. Dead when he hit the ground. I despise all things JW Borg but this guy truly was a great person to the core. Non judgmental, non gossiper, no drama, low key, salt of the earth. Such a shame those qualities weren't put to better use elsewhere. His name was Tim Cole from the Suwanee GA Cong. https://www.crowellbrothers.com/obituaries/Timothy-Montgomery-Cole?obId=4418174 850 for his memorial service last Sunday spread out over 2 KH's in Suwanee, Suwanee Literature Depot, Buckhead, Braselton, and tied in up in TN.

  And to think the GB had to ultimately approve either the final plan for a normal looking house of worship OR a commercial Taco Bell/Starbucks looking plan. And to think that it came down to what ended up being a a 5 to 3 vote in favor of the commercial structure we will all see popping up everywhere here and there.

  did your conscience ever bother you when you were counseling/reproving/disfellowshipping ones in the congregation?

  did it feel extreme or justified based on your biblical understanding at the time.

  Fact: Tens of thousands of Bethelites have taken a vow of poverty and live/work in branches all over the world.

  Fact: They all get a stipend based on local need, "cost of living", tenure, ect. Sure room, board, and the 'Bethel boutique' provide most things but these people still have needs (travel home, tampons, McDonalds, ect). Whatever the case it ain't much money they personally get.

  Fact: A large portion of them are sent gifted money from family and friends.

  Fact: Bethelites are given specific direction to never have family and friends directly send them money.

  Fact: Normally, there is a trail. If money is sent via post it must be claimed through customs + ergo someones taxes. If money is wired, there is also a trail and it must be claimed on someones taxes. "This can cause problems for the branch."

  Fact: Via the treasurers office they facilitate routing person to person money through their internal non-profit financial systems. The sender makes a 401c "donation" to WT Attn: US Treasurers office earmarked for Brother Bobby or Sister Tammy and au voila, off it goes tax free and untraceable. The Bethelite on the other end receives into their Bethel account @ some branches and others they are given a local branch disbursement check to locally cash.

  watctower has posted a $40,000,000 bond following montana's upholding of the nunez v watchtower verdict of 2018. punitive damages have been upheld, and wt has purchased the bond from travelers insurance (35m+ interest)-montana sc will rule later this year on the appeal.. .

  A few things from the WT Treasurers Office:

  >Stephen Lett was 100% honest in stating some time ago on a monthly broadcast that more money was flowing out than was flowing in. Of course the money he was talking about flowed out of a $40-50 billion USD worldwide asset pool. [Its going to take a lot of $40 million dollar lawsuits to make a dent]. I was reminded that there is a huge difference between annual revenues (700m-1.5b) and WWAV world wide asset values that can be drawn from.

  >Times are changing. Publisher growth has slowed. In the digital world trend, people don't want magazines and books. The WT machine is adjusting to that. Brooklyn $2bn selloff + all the equipment/assets in those buildings sold off. 20% reduction in WW project costs. Investments (relatively cheap) in 20 year (cloud) data infrastructure. Free remote workers by the thousands. 3rd party outsourcing in construction, transportation, and A/V departments.

  >No chronic financial problems. Just acute expenditures requiring that best course business decisions be made. As of my last conversation (02/2019) there are a thousand KH building projects going on during any given month world wide.

  >The Russian Federation asset seizure rocked the GB and Treasury Dept with much indignation (like $125 million worth). The WT corp frustration was primarily taken out counsel that originally structured what was held as a "bulletproof" way for US corp to own Russian property and circumnavigate the Russian legal system. (not exact comparison but think: view towards foreign embassy property/diplomatic property in the USA)
