  A different slant on the Montana Verdict Reversal

  i was thinking how the jw's are no doubt going to point to this as a show of jehovah's hand in the matter.. however i think it may also have a negative impact and lead others to learn the truth about the truth.. this ruling does nothing to remove the fact that child abusers were among 'god's people' and the elders did nothing to protect the flock.

  regardless of the fine, i think any publicity is good publicity for helping others wake up.

  that's just my 2 cents.... and i could be totally wrong as well, but that is what this board is for right :-).

  I'm not a betting man but if I were I'd bet that:

  There have been countless meetings at Warwick to decide wether or not to capitalize on the verdict and the decision is NOT to post it to the breaking news or anywhere on JW.org. They know they would look like D-bags either way.

  Unless of course the WT Spin Team pulls something pretty amazing out of the hat.

  My old standby was to ask, "if you had it to do all over again, what would you do differently." Their answer usually sealed the deal one way or the other for me. As a young elder though I was more into the dog and pony show combined with if i liked them or not to produce the decision.

  How Much of the WT Teaching Did You Believe?

  some people on this forum have said that they never really believed any aspect of wt teaching, that they couldn't wait to get free of it all.. others seems to have been really gung ho, believing it all until something happened that got you questioning "the truth.".

  i would say my own high water mark was about 50%, which put me squarely on the fence, trying to decide if i should be in or out.. how about you?.

  The new JW Bible

  i was recently informed that the new jw bible was reviewed by some academic type person who rated it as one of the best translations available.. has anyone heard of this person and if so what is his reasoning for giving it such a compliment?.

  just looking at the pictures in tomorrow's wt study makes me think of the nightmares i used to have as a child.

  and nowadays the pictures are sometimes more realistic, so for any who are truly mentally in, this has a terrible effect on them and even their life choices.

  looking in as a pimo or pomo it seems almost comical that adults would believe in this sci-fi bible fan-fiction, but it's not funny when we remember that all ages of the r&f are being manipulated by the gb by these cheap and evil means.. .

  i was a jw from infancy.

  we had a melting pot type of congregation.

  i grew up with all types of witnesses , all with different backgrounds.

  And for those of us elders who served for years think back to meeting time rotations!

  We never asked the Spanish if they wanted to rotate into Sundays. We (white privileged men) were #1 too coward to have to deal with the backlash after announcing to the cong that they would have to endure Saturday meetings, #2 were unwilling give up Sunday football, #3 assumed the Spanish "love their Saturday slot" so why even ask them.
