One would have to be a JW recluse or comatose to not have decided by now.

Why it's good to discuss politics (but if you don't want to, you don't have to)
by LoveUniHateExams ini was reading through this site the other day and came across several posts by different posters lamenting this site, saying what a shame it has gone from debating jw believers to talking politics and current affairs.. there are a few issues i have with these kind of posts.. first, discussing politics is actually a good thing.
well, in case you haven't noticed, we in the west are going through a culture war.
certain groups of far-leftists are trying - and sometimes succeeding - to shut down free discussion.

the Electoral College favours smaller States than the bigger ones ?
Can anyone explain why this would be the case ? And what it means to the outcome of the elections ?First off, state governors are elected by popular vote but not our president. The reason is quite convoluted and many Americans do not understand it or how it came about.
Some claim that the Electoral College was developed in order to balance the interests of states with low population with those of high population. The number of electors in each state depends upon the population of that state. It's the electors who actually vote for the president, and they usually vote the same as the people of that state, however there have been times when they didn't. And if that isn't convoluted enough, there have been five times where presidential candidates have won the overall popular vote but lost the election due to the electoral votes.
In early 19th century there was a push to end the Electoral College (12th Amendment) but by then, there developed a division between the North and South and the population was greater in the North so the South pushed to keep the Electoral College and include slaves in their population count. Neither the free slaves in the North or the slaves in the South could vote, but the number of electors in each state depended upon the population, so the South had a large number of slaves which boosted their electoral count even if a black slave only counted as a fraction of a white person.
Although slightly altered, the Electoral College still stands today. While not a true democracy, each of our major political parties have learned to use it to their advantage at one time or another.

They are not legal political terms
There are illegal political terms? Oh, God, I may have said, "socialist." Please, I really didn't mean it. If I'm incarcerated, who's going to care for my pet capybara?

As I recall, I first joined this forum to make a “political post” it was opposition to the Iraq war, which was an event that changed my view of the world and continues shape my view. I marched against the war, voted for the first time in my life to protest against it
War sucks. From personal experience.

the fact that Trump is not continuing or starting new wars is significant and often overlooked.
True, but his close friend Thomas J. Barrack explained that by stating Trump would not start a war because there was nothing in it for him.
Hundreds of medical doctors claim Trump is a classical narcissist, which explains why he only does things that directly benefit him. So, yeah, the fact that he hasn't started a war is a plus for America regardless of why he has not mobilized our troops. A comparison might be like learning your eyesight has improved temporarily as the result of terminal brain cancer.

Drive by, insert Democrat instead of Trump supporter with your cult comment and easily, the same can be said about you and anyone that thinks like you.
Actually, no. I don't owe allegiance to any Democrat ideology. I make decisions based upon what is right and what is wrong. You see, once ensnared in a cult, what is right and wrong is decided for you. There is no critical thinking or decision making - just worship of the cult leader(s). Proof of that is watching a Trump rally. If you don't get it, you're probably in a cult, which is why you don't care if Trump lies, cheats, demeans his military general officers and veterans, abandons our allies on the battlefield, etc.

I don't know about cult, but there are some curious similarities shared by all mass movements:
Very well said, TD.
Yeah, cult is a bit of a "dirty" word. -

Question for ex-JWs who are Trump supporters:
How difficult would it be to convince a dedicated JW that what he believes is pure nonsense?
Answer:
As difficult it would be to convince a Trump supporter that what he believes is pure nonsense.
Unfortunately, this happens time after time. Some folks escape a cult only to be ensnared by another, incognizant of their station.

People need to... vote for family values
Such as porking a porn star while third wife is pregnant with child.

The polls are usually lies.
Well, they're not actually lies as such, but their results depends upon whether the folks quizzed are actually going to vote.
During the last presidential election, the Republicans were energized like never before while too many of Democrats had their thumbs up their a**.
The same would be happening this time around if the POTUS hadn't awakened a sleeping giant. The idiot just can't keep from stepping on his d**k.
I mean he would have won by a massive landslide if he wouldn't have ignored the pandemic and dissed the Black Matters movement.
The Republicans turned out en masse during the last election and barely got the idiot elected.
