I think I figured out their strategy with all the creepy videos
by JeffT ini came in during all the hype over 1975. the predictions about that date were the real driver behind all their activity.
since then, they haven't had a good goad to prod the sheep.
they seem to be smart enough not to try another date.. i think they plan to use fear instead.

Environmentalists? Not Necessarily, Helping Nonetheless....
by Doubtfully Yours inwhether the average jw appreciates it or not (i certainly do not), the wtbts sure is helping in the environmentalists' movement of creating as much a paperless society as possible in order to preserve trees and create other favorable situations for humanity, such as avoiding so much trash and chemical waste involved in the printing/shipping process.. in order to help me adjust to this new phase within the org, i've reasoned it all this way.
anybody else recognizes that this going all out electronic/computerized is, of course, first a most profitable effort, but also has a secondary benefit of helping out to preserve the environment.......?!.

Non-shunning stories - How fine!From time to time I meet or see some of my former "sis" and "bros" doing a shopping, sometimes they even unassertively greet me or give the impression to be willing to have a small talk. Once I could speak about the fear of armageddon that are created in the publications and at conventions and how children react and the sis agreed me completely. She said that she would not show this stuff to her minors too. And she told me how good the JW were, because there are so many nice people. What would she tell me after this so called "fear mongering " convention and would she speak with me at all?

How many CO2 emission would 100 billions resurrected effect, think of food production plus 1 car or bike/person or such things. Place would be enough on our planet, but how much trees would have to be planted more that 100 billions could breath fresh air? Such a climatic balance would be interesting.

Pistoff: Instead of seeing shunning as a matter that is debatable and up to each family, they frame it as loyalty to Jehovah.
Again the SHUNNING VIDEO is completely differing from the image that is showed in public interviews that JW are very senisible and reasonable people.
Lately I saw an interview with an elder at Tyrol TV, after the filmcrew accompanied the family in their daily activies as JW, they filmed at home and asked the sweet daughter, how she came to her decision to become baptized with 16. She said it was a free decision.
Than the father was asked if he heard of the critics from ex-JWs who argue it would have heavy consequences to leave the group. The elder answered that in his town such a case did never appear. To the next question what would happen if one of his children decided not be become a witness he answered, that in such a case the family would sustain like it is, only they would "probably" not speak so much about religion together. (That looks quite reasonable)
What was not asked or mentioned is that after baptism the matter is a more difficult one and "peer pressure/peer shunning" happens, it becomes a matter of LOYALTY to rules of the organisation and that each familymember and the whole congregation shuns the person not anymore interested in the faith as a unrepentend sinner. Therefore many young ones considere better twice to get baptized. Later there hardly room anymore for to say something like: "oh, i didnt consider the baptism really seriously enough, I would like to annul it or undo it and later think about the matter again okay".

That reminds of how and with what attitude I was totally engaged in studying the old "Make assure of all things and beware the good"..
I was shocked to read that all catolic teachings about the mess, the cross, trinity, soul, the easter and christmas could be false and I could miss the true christianity. I compared the catolics with the wars and misdeeds with the loving brotherhood who fulfills alone the testimony of loving each other in wartimes and again. BING.

I dont know when excactly the "truth" trap begins to work, is it fascination about news or is it genetic handicap that influences brain zones to work more intensive, so that the cult trap can snap shut. I heard that the religion region in the brain is located in the same region as music, correct? Somehow a senseless ability of the brain? coming into an argumenation flow that feels simple good. Like prozelitism only for the reason of having a better argumenation, feeling good when talking about new discoveries, preaching, evangelization, is it, indoctrination about doctrines like a professor that "fell in love" with his area of expertise and doesnt stop talkng about. Why does knowledge and wisdom lead to such kind of arrogation, arrogance?
Yesterday I watched a TV docu about a turkish-norwegian novelist and filmmaker Nefise Özkal Lorentzen, elaborated her hopes for a renewed islam and made interviews with egypt, turkish, norwegian muslim, form the joung fundamental salafist sheik to egypt feminist. It is like poetic letter to allah. The salafist sheik said that he only agreed to the interview with a woman because it could be of interest for the world, the western, otherwise he would have insisited on a camera man, or a male producer. But he agreed and than he laughed after he was asked, how often he was already film by a woman and told about his wife. He is married since 6 years and her wife has never gone to any shop alone. She only does shopping with him together.
