Ever-changing teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses - probably the most comprehensive compendium about Watchtower doctrinal changes
by WTS Archive intwo days ago a new book was released for download, called "ever-changing teachings of jehovah's witnesses".
it was originally written by a polish jw scholar (who never was a jw himself) włodzimierz bednarski, with a help from szymon matusiak, who was a jw and an elder, and is a result of years of labourious work to compile quotes regarding every single doctrine the book describes.
it covers the most important changes in years 1879—2015.

Think for Yourself: Reform Judaism Uses JW Blood Issue For Shavuot
by David_Jay inas the jewish holy day of shavuot (pentecost) begins this weekend, the reform judaism site publishes an interesting article entitled "judaism teaches: question authority, think for yourself.".
the article employs a jewish doctor's recollection of a jw patient who refused blood and died as an example of how both religious traditions greatly differ on how they see and apply god's law.. shavuot is the day jews recall god's giving the law to israel.
the article is significant in that it demonstrates how jews see the giving of the law as a call to questioning authority, including divine revelation itself whereas the death of the jw patient is contrasted as a slavish interpretation that misses the point behind jewish scripture.. for more see the article at:.

Modern was also the idea that we JW agreed to Jesus statement, that the whole law was summarized in 2 commandements, you know. These two commandements were the sense of the whole law. And what Jesus taught was nothing else than the common rabbinic interpretation of the law, they always looked for the sense. The man was the center of the law not blind obidience. So i thought that JW were modern but I ignored that they interpreted the prohibition on blood literally.
But isnt blood the means of atonement? No blood itself is not the means of atonement.

When I was a witness I was happy to read that "true christians" are not under the ten commandments and the other "laws". I looked down on all the "imitating christians"," the christianity", the "alleged christians" and Jews who believe they have to follow the ten commandments and to the adventists who thought that the Sabbath has to be observed.
How MODERN Jehovahs Witnessses teachings were in contrary! They did not hold to such old ideas, i thought, as yes, WE are only under the "law of christ".
This is from the paradise book, "Are we under the ten commandments".
And as for the Sabbath I liked how SPIRITUALLY we interpreted the law of the sabbath.
...and how oldfashioned the Adventits and Jews looked like. We as Jehovahs witnesses look behind the old Laws and adopt the spiritual sense, we were allowed to LEARN SOMETHING from the laws, i thought, to ask for the sense of the laws and to find the value for us.
Whereas in the case of the central law about the sabbath we were allowed to learn something of the law because we were imitating Jesus and so happily must not stop working on sabbath, we funnilly enough were not allowed to LEARN SOMETHING from any other important laws, but should read them literally.
But of course I ignored that in those other cases and liked to stay in the " How better we are than catolics and jews"-mode.

Instead of asking for the meaning of the prohibition of blood when in the noachidic law eating of flesh was allowed, and to find out that it could be a ban on eating living (with blood in it) parts the animal and a warning against brutallity against animals, I accepted the misinterpretation that blood would be something "untouchable" per se. Later I found out that blood was only mentioned in the genesis because it was understood as seat of life back than. Through the whole jewish history the noachidic commandements, here the ban on "living parts of the animal" was seen as an ethical code for all mankind and for non-Jews seen as possibility to be part of the coming world. Blood by itself was not forbidden for non-Jews according to the noachidic commandments for Bnei Noach, the children of Noah only the eating of living parts of the animal.
At shavuot Jews celecrate the Thora, the law, what means guidance, Jesus celecrated this festival too.

For instance, Papias said that Matthew wrote in Hebrew language a collection of sayings. This seemed to be the Gospel used by Nazarenes and Hebionites, who were christians that rejected the divinity of Jesus, regarding him only as the Messiah. Nevertheless, Jerome, an "orthodox" church father at the end of the fourth century wrote that most christians believed that that Gospel used by these sects was the original one written by Matthew. And if you read Jerome's and Eusebius' quotations from that Gospel you will notice that many statements differ from that of the greek version of Matthew's Gospel. So it means that many christians of the fourth century were not convinced of the authenticity of greek version of the Matthew's Gospel that we currently have.
I thought that this is already an accepted fact anyway, namely that Matthew was written originally in aramaic or hebrew.
Theologian Pope Benedict mentioned for instance Papia's testimony for Matthew on 30th Aug, 2006
"Finally, it should be recalled that the tradition of the early church unanimously Matthew ascribes authorship of the first Gospel. This is already happening by Papias, who was Bishop of Hierapolis in Phrygia about the year 130. He writes: "Matthew has compiled the speeches in Hebrew; everyone interpreted them as best he could "(in Eusebius of Caesarea, Ecclesiastical History, III, 39). The historian Eusebius adds: "Matthew, who had first preached among the Hebrews, wrote when he wanted to go also to the other nations his gospel in his native language; because he sought whom he left to replace by Scripture what they lost with his departure "(ibid., III, 24).
We have the Gospel written by Matthew in Hebrew or Aramaic no longer, but in the Greek Gospel that we have, we as it were listening the compelling voice of the Matthew who, became the apostle so continues this saving mercy of God to proclaim. Let us listen to this message of St.. Matthew, we always think back about it, so that we learn to stand up and follow Jesus with determination.
[the text is on basis of goole translation and not edited perfectly]Whether later redaction in greek or second took place, a second, third redaction, hat changed matthews theology and doesnt fit into his concepts and whether new concepts were later added are interesting field of research.

Buying music for convention trailers and not allowing the joung ones to make a career in music at the same convention is a DUPLICITY of first rate.
I vote for more life music in halls and on conventions and for WT-certificates and grades in applied studies of art.

I wonder if you also wonder why the "Watchtower symphonic orchestra" not composed some fine piece of "eletronic music" for this convention trailer. I think that the Watchtower symphonic orchestra is simply not competent enough in modern electronic music at all.
But it was very important for the Governing Body as alwys to attract the young ones on the convention with up to date trailer music like it is in the latest movie trailers with that special hollywood feeling. So it turns around promoting the faith with lates music tools. The impression could aris that JW have the better dramatic cinema.
This though we have so many young talents. :sparkles: who would appreciate take part in production electronic music.
That is a second major fail: That they forbid and not support higher musical education to produce such fine electronic music and later buy this music from the "world." They forget that learning music and playing it always only at home is not enough in this profession. Only one JW orchestra is not enough for the whole world there are so many talents.Young talent :point_left:

TWO MEN who changed Watchtower History but YOU NEVER HEARD of them!
by TerryWalstrom intwo men who changed watchtower history but you never heard of them!
cults are famous for control--especially controlling information about people, places and events which are embarrassing to their self-myths.. especially is this true for two important figures in watchtower history.. .
the first man is william f. hudgings.

:yum: What a shocking insight about how prophecies fulfill through unbelievable ways and how God suffers while god uses his servants and appoints them to go through awkward happenings and forces them to invent fictive history.

This would be a scientic study about the Papias fragments in german, but not free available
__________
about peters "hermeneut"
Eusebius remarks that, “as is clear from his books, [Papias] was a man of very little intelligence.” He made this judgment for two reasons: first, Papias was a chiliast or millenialist, believing that “there will be a thousand years after the resurrection of the dead when the kingdom of Christ will be set up in a material form in this earth.” Eusebius blames Papias for the subsequent adoption of chiliasm among many other Christian writers, among them Irenaeus. Secondly, Papias seems to have lacked discrimination in passing along certain “fabulous accounts” as part of the oral tradition. http://www.catholicculture.org/commentary/articles.cfm?id=640
