The myth of the saving blood transfusion
Transfusion triggers and anemia tolerance. In transfusion triggers two groups can be distinguished. On one hand, the hemoglobin level is used as a trigger. And in 19 percent of patients had a preoperative anemia, which was not corrected before the procedure. compared to the first study, the second, in 2014 published, Austrian benchmark study showed a drop in the average rates of transfusion in orthopedic procedures (from 41 to 30 percent for hip replacement and from 41 to 25 percent for knee replacement), but not in aortocoronary bypass (57 vs . 55 percent).
As before, there was the problem that the majority of preoperative anemia is not corrected adequately. Specifically, the annual consumption of foreign blood is around 50 units per 1,000 inhabitants, is the stated objective is 20 / 1,000. the transfusion volume decreased by 70 percent - at Linz General Hospital, which focuses on PBM, was within eight years - with an unchanged mortality.

Although I dont understand the scientific details I draw your attention to Prof. Gombotz who already retired.

For many years he was chief of the hospital department in Linz where hundreds of J.W. got a treatment, while other hospitals even refused to care for J.W. patients at least in one case. So obviously Linz became center of excellence beginning with 2001. The creation of centers of excellence all over Austria were his last efforts as head of the department. There is no inidication that he is member of J.W.

But already before Prof. Gombotz in Graz treated hundreds of J.W.

I have hesitated to post this video about "dangerous transfusions" not to encourage someone who is adherent to the blood-ban dogma yet more to agree to their own death. But the facts are here. It is sad that many J.W. are not distinguish between the danger of the transfusion and the necessity to accept it in case of extreme emergency case.

In Austria PBM was implemented 2006 in the Austrian Hospital Linz. In 2007 the Austrian benchmark study by Gombotz H, Rehak PH, Shander A, Hofmann A: Blood use in elective surgery: the Austrian benchmark study. Transfusion2007, 47(8):1468-1480.

It was trigger for a movement. It was a benchmarkstudy of several hospitals in Austria in cooperation with Australia, and USA. It showed the blood is given to fast. WestAustralia implmeneted the PBM fast. Hofmann and Shander were payed millions of dollars for their consultant activity as has been reported by Orphancrow.

The WHO has taken over this concept and since 2011 the Patient Blood Management is to be implemented worldwide. Many countries already implement the system. West-Australia, Holland, England. Austria however stopped implementation because the fear of loosing blood donors and because the voluntary Red Cross is financed via blood donations.

So it came that the Austrian benchmark study is not part of the below list, obviously it has not been published (?) acccording to the comment at patientbloodmanagement.de. But it is mentioned as the first scientific report or benchmark study.

Patient Security has got public interest in the last years in many countries. The rise of the awareness about necessity of blood management in the public and in surgery and the influence of single J.W. (physicians, consultants and patients) who played role – and what role - is very exciting. From bloodless surgery, AIDS, EBOLA, WHO, .....till PBM. So no it doesnt turn simple about the possible that dirty blood donations of illegal mexican immigrants could bring epidemics to U.S.A now already a global awaresness about Patient Safety and Bloodmanagement is achieved. Especially in a time when people are growing older each decade and are travelling around the globe.

Thanks to OrphanCrow my attention has been drawn to this subject. While I was digging around in the Internet I found the following report of 2016 about the successes of blood management in Germany.
