Warning: A. Vogel (JW-run organization) treatments popping up in the US

i've noticed a few of my local grocery stores are stocking a. vogel homeopathy products.

a. vogel is a company ran primarily by jehovah's witnesses, the "brains" behind the operation, alfred vogel, has since died but he claimed to be one of the anointed.

the bolle family (co-founders of the company) is a well-known, (now very wealthy) family in the netherlands and there have been significant "contributions" in the past from the company to the watchtower organization.. alfred vogel was a well-known conman, he claimed blood transfusions would change someone's personality, he claimed to have studied native american herbal healing methods... from a native american tourist photo-op actor.

If we respect them, they take the liberty to justify unsocial behavior. The doctor has not "PUBLICLY DISCRIMINATED" any JW by refusal of a surgery! Dare you to persecute such a little poor cultic minority. You should rather protect any cult and form of oddball cultic rules like disfellowshipment, child sacrifice to the bloodless medicine, pregnant women dying without blood transfusions in the operating theatre and pay for all social and health consequences of cult victims.

The possibility of transfusion in an emergency did not even have to be considered, said the Jehovah's Witness before the Supreme Court of Bern. After all, it was a small, routine operation.
The supreme court, on the other hand, argued that such a risk was not simply negligible. The hospital management may also refuse treatment. This is not only a matter for the executive doctor. An operation is always a team performance.

if one reads between the lines, one can discern that this illustration is a later adoption intended to exploit the rich using the poor as a means.. i have friends who are extremely rich (net-worth in billions) and also who are materially very poor, and have found both are living in hell because of their attitude.

the excess the rich have prevents them from enjoying it (and even the affluent find a huge gap between income and desires, hence find themselves often in conflict and competition) and whereas the deprived compare themselves with the haves which prevents them also from enjoying their lives.. jesus would not provide an illustration that undermines his own most favored statement: “happy are those poor in spirit because kingdom of heavens belongs to them” (mathew 5:3) and his own explanation that heaven is the condition of one’s heart (luke 17:21) obviously he had in mind those who do not have the baggage of attachment and sense of possession, those few people of simplicity that belong to both the categories—the rich and the poor. simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, a stage where every possession serves a purpose living a life that is deliberate and intentional (not one that someone else has scripted for them) and wanting to feel more complete (not more objects of the world), at ease.

If a teacher comes from heaven, and leaves behind something for anyone to interpret in any way each one likes, what is the purpose of communication?

Hi venus, The purpose of communication in form of parables and examplary stories are manifold.

Firstly these examplary stories are Luke's view and loupe, they are his interpretation and way of passing down "Jesus sayings" and tradition.

Secondly literary and culturial spoken such examplary stories are not an attempt to claim a divine doctrinal advice but they fulfilled in jewish society several purposes e.g. teaching a moral or poetry. Exemplary stories belonged to the jewish genre of literature called Aggada.

Therefore to draw any doctrinal conclusion of such stories or personification of the rich as the pharasee or the todays religious leaders is not wise, a foolishness that the faithful slave is fully into.

- as a firehell for the rich or the relgiious leaders or

- a final reconcialation for all or

- the condemnation of all rich religious leaders or non followers of Christ

This would certainly go beyond the moral of this little short story about mercy. It turns only around mercy and the politics of the "closed doors" for others, but not about a class of pharasees. The reader shall identify itself with the rich man, what for a rich man might indeed be a little scary, with the images that are used.

Thirdly such stories are good lession or tool kit even today to teach how illustrations can be used to manipulate people, hopefully to the good account.

We should not overvalue them because they are only stories, which however give a good impression about how early christians interpreted scripture.

The story of the Rich man criticizes examplarily a particular behavior and calls accordingly for a behavioral change in the listener and reader. In most cases the examplary story is an openly formulated answer to a concrete question and is therefore to be understood as an example. Vanderhoven7: Everyone in Jesus' audience understood

I am wondering - perhaps this has been already mentioned by others - why the writer of Luke when he composed his gospel he comes up with this exemplary story.

I wondering if he used it because of the interesting original setting in a conversation with pharases or because of a more general benefit for Luke's audience who were the educated pagans and the jewish-christians. He who was worked so accurate and made use of confident written sources, why did he insert this examplary story about a rich man in his text?

A pagan audience would not have been aware of inner-jewish terms or interested however in the inner-jewish dispute between pharasees and rabbi Jesus and for it also the satirical value of the story and Jesus rethoric ability to mimik their teachings in the original setting might have been of little value, at least it would have been no easy stuff.

Although all other gospelwirters forgot about this story of the rich man, Luke didnt want to be this little story to be forgotten. He thought it would be interesting for his 2nd generation community and even for non-jewish people.

Now indeed it would be exciting to know what was his idea about this story,

- was he excited of Jesus as satiric and did he want to present Jesus as great rethoric?

- was he only acccurate and didnt want to forget this little story?

- did Luke use the story as exemplary story to show that God doesn like hypocracy?

- was it because Luke generally liked to enjoin one not to forget the poor?

Something in this story must be special that Luke decided to pass it on. Certainly the original setting might be very important to understand, the correct understanding of the terms just as well, but because the scenery is fictionary to which action does the story stimulate us then?

Perhaps Luke had a certain Lazarus in mind when he took up this story in the gospel, as a doctor he was certainly interested in such gruesome treated poor people, treated as unclean and anyway helpless, people who were "refugees" in their own country, whom dogs licked their sores, because they could not move from the place, where they were deposited.

Did Luke leave the story over for us to interprete it?

Brother Jackson e.g. in this scene spoke (not inspired) that simply wanting to remain loyal is not enough, exclusive devotion to Jehovah means not to deviate from his principles! As if there would be no other examples for this he mentioned the situation of a woman suffering poor health. The non-inspiried words he found were:

"Granted ....poor health may cause us great suffering, when experiences such distress we must always remember that violating Jehovah PRINICPLES is N - E -V- E - R a solution, but taking a firm stand on jehovahs side....."

One could assume that he speaks of not resigning from faith in this situation of suffering caused by the long suffering. His (non inspired) words are twisted.

But be careful, he wants to use the woman's poor health for showing that it it not enough to remain in faith, but even to be no-holds-barred prepared to decide against her own life saving therapy.

For Jackson it is not enough not to resign from faith in poor health ,Jackson awaits from that the woman exclusive devotion to Jehovahs PRINCIPLES.

As he is a weasel trained by his law office (not spirit-directed but law office directed) he doesnt speak out such an extrem demand publicly over TV for what he could be held accountable, but better lets the slaving WTS creative department insert a background image as propganda tool which shows how the already poor woman avoids a bloodbag to be connected to her. In this situation she needs to pray not only to remain a believer at all but to resist also the seduction of this uncooperative wordly doctor who insists on that blood bag which could save her life.

So he (not inspired) let us believe that a sick person has to be ready to give up his life and avoid a life-saving therapy, while the WTS- creative department (not spirit-directed) inserts a foto to provoke a certain necessity of obidience, pressure and fear.

Why does he not say it forthright with his mouth that he is not inspired nor directed o say such things in the name of God. Why does he not say that each one should decide free without fear or necessity of obidience.
