Great, become a Witness of Jehovah. While you're at it become a Witness of Jesus, just DON"T become a PUBLISHER of the WTBTS!!!
That's the worst move anyone can make, and one has NOTHING to do with the other!

i've always been fascinated by the pictures in the watchtower.
back in the 70s, i was intrigued by pictures of a beardless jesus hanging on a stake with two theives hanging beside him.
he usually had a full head of hair, but it looked strange for a beardless jesus to be standing in the midst of his disciples, all with beards!
Regarding cross or stake:
If all of a sudden history revealed Jesus was executed on a stake rather than a cross, what would happen? Perhaps people would just switch to a stake around their neck. Whatever!! WTS asks, "If someone dear to you were murdered with a pistol would you wear a pistol around your neck? Would you glorify the means of death?"
That's not what people are doing! Jesus and the prophets made a big deal out of the fact that Jesus would be executed as a common criminal or common man. Whatever the means that Jesus was hung on, the point is he was executed in that manner. It has nothing to do with "glorifying" the means of death. This argument really gets under my skin. The main point is ALWAYS missed!!!
Seriously, what difference does it make?
Even when "in the truth" as an elder and pioneer, I refused to place any significance on stake or cross. I would say it doesn't matter, what matters is he DIED willingly and undeservedly.
so we all know the jw vocabulary is a weird one.
what words or phrases bugged you the most?.
a few of mine:.
Theocratic warfare
A little leaven ferments the whole lump
agents
in other words...
its against my religion
not-at home

as we can see...
just got word that my youngest brother died of pancreatic cancer.
he was diagnosed in early august.
this has been really tough for me and my family..
I'm so sorry to heaar of your loss. It's hard to quantify how much a persons brother really means to them. I'm sure it leaves a void that will be impossible to fill. I have 2 older brothers and would be devasted to lose either one. My condolences.
this year my wife, kids and i are celebrating christmas and birthdays for the first time.
having been a born-in, i was raised to believe that these events were not only pagan in origin, but also self-promoting and greedy.
what i have learned as the year as progressed and as christmas gets closer is quite the opposite.. as it turns out, my wife and i never learned how to give gifts and to shop for other people, neither have my kids.
Problem is my 10y.o. son is mostly into computer games and I really want to try and get him more into sports and outdoor activities. Any suggestions on a gift that could help accomplish this?
so glad we are out the cult together it makes occassions like this so much more special..
Happy anniversary!!! My wife and I are only 2 years behind you and my son is 10 too!
Enjoy your blessed day.

As it turns out, my wife and I never learned how to give gifts and to shop for other people, neither have my kids. Instead we always just bought thngs as needed and typically without much thought or sentiment. That's what you learn as a JW. Now we are all learning the joy of giving.
We are each getting $500 or so to spend on xmas gifts, and none of it can be spent on ourself. We have to take an interest in each other and our friends to find out what their interests are and then buy gifts for them. We are left trusting that they are doing the same for us. It has proven to be a great life-lesson, not just for my kids but for my wife and I as well. We are all learning to be unselfish and generous.
I hate that I missed out on this all of my life. I hate that my kids (13 and 10) have missed out until now. I'm sad and disgusted that the WTS misconstrues these events as being selfish and greedy. We're seeing them to be totally the opposite.
now that the "faithful & discreet slave class" has become essentially the governing body since 1919, almost every publication is obsolete and useless!
(i know, they are useless)..... the fds doctrine is a core teaching unique to jehovah's witnesses and now i believe they will have to change all of their understandings that are recorded in the revelation climax book, ezekiel books---every prophetic book written by the society!.
sir82: Reminds me of my job. I work for a franchise and every time the corporation wants a quick infusion of cash, they change the uniforms. Thus requiring all 4000+ restaurants, all with 20+ employees to have to purchase new uniforms for their employees. This just happened recently and just with my 7 restaurants that resulted in $2500. They just took in a quick 2-3 million dollars.
Pretty smart way to infuse cash into the corporation. Just change the look.
all christian religions assume that to be the case, thus organizations, clergy, laity, r&f, etc.. christianity (religion) is nothing more than corporate big business.
is this what jesus was trying to do?.
in my reading of the gospel accounts, it seems jesus was just the opposite.

Christianity (religion) is nothing more than corporate big business. Is this what Jesus was trying to do?
In my reading of the Gospel accounts, it seems Jesus was just the opposite. He sought to attract individuals and to change their way of life. He saw people as oppressed, mistreated, and abused. He emphasized a personal accountability and spirituality. He directed people to God and brought God to life through his teachings and illustrations.
Christian religions dig through the Gospels seeking to find a way to justify their existence and authority, investing endless amounts of time, energy, and money into striving after this coveted power and authority. They miss the whole point of Jesus' ministry.
WTBTS is no different. They do not have a "noble" intention or motivation. their desire is solely to more firmly entrench their limited authority and try to make it absolute. This new understanding of the FDS illustrates this point perfectly. They are "elitists"that want power and authority for themselves. always have been and always will be.
Jesus went so far as to say, "my kingdom is no part of this world". He simply didn't desire to set up any sort of "organization" or church or kingdom. His followers wanted him to, and they desired positions of prominence in it. But Jesus recognized such as fleshly desires not spiritual desires.
The entire concept of Christianity in the NT is of a personal nature, empowering and training ones' conscience and learning to focus on their personal relationship with God through Jesus. Any and all efforts to involve men and fleshly authorities worked contrary to that mission. Even Paul wrote that he was nothing more than a planter or a waterer, God was the one who causes growth. He recognized that he wasn't anything special and only focused on his "authority" when defending himself from attacks by authority-hungry individuals in the congregations.
All of this crap sickens me. I hate what "religion" has done to such a pure concept and a conceptually great way of life.
sorry for the wait guys.... .
part one.
moorse had the opening comments talked about historic annual meetings.. .
This is a truly interesting development.
I'm prompted to ponder if Anointedjw.org has had anything to do with this. For the last year they have written very deep, informative articles focusing on the true hope of the Bible, the earth, "sonship", among other things. They have sent weekly letters to the GB/ Writing Dept calling for reform and adjustment in teachings in order to accept "fellow sons".
Their efforts are completely based on the premise that all anointed are part of the FDS and thus their authority to write these articles and letters and submit them. It looks to me like the GB couldn't dispute any of it and this was the easiest way to quell their efforts among the R&F.
From all indications, the site has had a flood of interest from current JW's of all rank. (Of course all posted and claimed results can be subjective and debatable.)
While this site has been largely disregarded on this forum, I think it will prove to be an interesting read over the next few weeks/months to see how they react to this "new light" from the GB.
