im leaving the board, and am compelled to announce it.
but there are a few things i want to say first -- some recollections that (perhaps incongruously) seem germane to my leave-taking of jw.com.
1) my first post was also my first thread, written in the summer of 2000 (on h2o, actually).

inspired by the website of the same name, when do you think the society "jumped the shark".
for those who don't know what that phrase means, jumping the shark is the moment something (such as a tv show) begins it's downward spiral.
the name comes from when "fonzie" actually jumped the shark while water skiing on the tv show crappy happy days, complete with leather jacket.
I love the Jump the Shark website. Classic!!
I think the wts jumped the shark on Day 1. It was an ill-conceived idea that has been on a downward spiral since its inception.
okay, so i know i'm a total slacker for taking so long at this, but my connection at home stinks and i hate the idea of taking 48 hours to upload all my pictures.
so here i am at work on a lunch break.
jesika and eric, you will get hardcopies of all these.
the photos are gorgeous!!
I got the red x too, but i copied and pasted the properties onto my browser address bar and they showed up.
you know what they say...
some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouths. the less fortunate with a plastic fork in their chest.
dolphin or not.... anything with a fin is the last thing I want to see whilst on a surfboard. If I were that surfer in the photo I would have had a massive heart attack and died right then.
but this website reminds me somewhat of the society.
it's very amusing, particularly the subtitles.
and don't forget the children's page!.
Jesus built my hot rod
this is their sponsor, so I'm guessing it's a joke. It's pretty sad though, when you can't tell if it's actually a joke because that's how lots of fundies actually are.
Thanks BigTex
I don't know if even Texas could handle all of us in the same vicinity!
You guys are cracking me up
freedom96, we do have an unusually high number of sharks (especially Makos) on the west coast this year. I can only assume it is due to the unseasonably warm and mild winter we had. The currents are very warm in the Pacific this time of year, so don't go swimming in the ocean, ok?! I'm too chicken to even go in past my knees.
i really liked it (i don't ask a lot in a movie...escapist entertainment's what i'm after).
i thought johnny depp rocked as the rather swishy, funny pirate captain.
orlando bloom is turning into quite the attractive young man...after that last scene, i can see him in musketeer garb.. looking forward to the league of extraordinary gentlemen (love sean connery)...heard it's not great, but like i said, escapist entertainment).
lol! expat you are making me laugh a lot today
speaking of falling overboard, see this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/55394/1.ashx
Yikes!!
lmao!! no doubt, wildhorses
