  with all the confrontation/negativity on the board these last few weeks, maybe we all need to sit back and have a drink, or a cup of tea or coffee, if alcohol's not for you.. seriously, i'm not trying to pretend that i haven't gotten caught up in the negativity at times, or trivialize important issues/feelings, but things haven't been as fun, lately.

  i've noticed a change even in the short time i've been posting.

  i didn't start this topic to point fingers or to act like my opinion is somehow special, but wouldn't it be nice for all of us to see an increase in civility?.

  Thanks for posting this. I think it's good to address these issues. You are brave! I admire you for sticking your neck out.
  These last couple of weeks have been interesting. We are all dealing with our own situations and this board has helped me a lot in coming to terms with my own feelings.
  I am grateful to have a place to express myself. As we all know, we were never allowed to do this in the hall. But I have noticed lately that the 'mood' of the forum has been on the tense side. It would be a shame if this forum went into a downward spiral like h2o. I somehow doubt that would happen, but it certainly would be a tragedy.
  I really enjoy the people here. I think everyone makes valuable contributions, and the humor that shines through often makes me burst out laughing. I know there has been a huge influx of posters in the last month or so, myself included. I'm looking forward to the dust settling a bit.
  Nate, as long as you're offering, I'll have a vodka and grapefruit juice please.

  The Long Goodbye......

  after a transatlantic discussion with my wife we have both reached the conclusion that we will not be posting to this board again.

  though we see the board as serving a useful purpose for some, it does not at present suit the path that we have chosen to walk to extract ourselves from the wts.. this board is in an invaluable place for those of you who have recently left the wts and need a place to stretch your wings and share you hurt and pain.

  but once we learn to fly, it seems important that we should leave the nest as quickly as possible, lest we become caught in a vacuum between the wts and real life.

  I appreciate your balanced viewpoint. Sometimes things tend to get blown out of proportion with the emotionally charged subjects. I'm sorry if you got a less than favorable taste in your mouth.

  WTBTS Monitoring Discussion Boards??????

  just curious many say that the org monitors dbs, but anybody have concrete proof of this??

  oh by the way at the recent ca dbs were mentioned from the platform!!!

  the thought was "some jws were visting jehovahs witness discusssion boards and trying to correspond with some"...might not be exactly what was said(not an actual quote)...they mentioned put a doubt in your mind and start questioning your beliefs!!!

  I wouldn't be surprised if these sites were being monitored either. Jehovah's Witnesses are synonymous with paranoia. Since the internet is satan's mouthpiece, and your average jw couldn't logically reason their way out of a paper bag, it makes sense that the borg would instill a healthy fear ala 'Big brother is watching you,' to try to keep the 'sheep' from being led astray by the demonized apostates.

  What makes me laugh is that the borg beats the r&f over the head with council to stear clear of the internet, unless of course it is to check out their own official site. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

  My friend Marguerite met Mr. Rogers in person when she was young. She said he was a nasty tempered jerk, not appreciating his adolescent fans in the least. She told me that when one child asked for his autograph, he muttered "Damn kids..." and walked off, ignoring the child's request.

  This never surprised me, as I always had my reservations about a middle aged man who lived in a land of make-believe and conversed with puppets. Especially Lady Elaine Fairchild. Jesus, I still have nightmares about her.

  god i hated it..every living breathing minute of it.

  it was pure hell for me, and based on the pace i see the jws all over the world moving, they aint so fond of it neither.

  the persecution that the jws feel they get is from irritated householders who know nothing about their religion except that they hit people over the head with it and then judge them because they dont like being hit over the head with it.
