It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
the meaning of 'apostasy' given in my dictionary is "abandonment of religious faith, vows, principles or party".
i used to think that only cults considered leaving their religion to be apostasy, but according to my dictionary, as quoted above, everyone who changes their religion is technically an apostate.
so were those of us who changed from other religions to become jws apostates then?

one of my regrets about my 20 year stint of jw-dom is that i got rid of a lot of my 'questionable' music.
i have always loved all kinds of music, and i've been an avid collector for as long as i can remember.. some of the recordings i had i will probably never see again.
i deeply regret my decision to get rid of some of my favorite items.
And you know, come to think of it, there were a heck of a lot of things that, according to the great white WBTS, resembled penises...
Yeah, safe, take the elder body for example. Biggest batch of dicks I ever did see.
Hey, everybody, thanks for your replies. I still marvel at how the org. would make the most benign things seem evil. They say the devil is in the details. Or the yard sale items that you bring into your home, or Avon jewelry, or records, or baseball cards... [8>]

i was minding mind business lifting some lead off the roof of the holy name church .
it was worthwhile living a laughable life just to set my eyes on a blistering sight of a vicar in a tu-tu .
Hello elin I am a die hard Smiths fan. If I may...
Good times for a change
See, the luck I've had
would make a good man
turn bad
So please please please
let me, let me, let me
let me get what I want
this time
Haven't had a dream in a long time
See, the life I've had
would make a good man bad
So for once in my life
let me get what I want
Lord knows it would be the first time
Lord knows it would be the first time
ah, memories. I wanted to marry Morrissey.

Do any of you wish you could go back and not have let your 'guilty conscience' aid you in your decision to unload some items that you wish you held onto in retrospect? I'd love to know that I'm not the only one who gave in to the ridiculous whims of the elders.

i couldn't stay away.
i love you guys.. abaddon's and ldh's recent posts hit close enough to home that i decided to post again.. i think the selected memory and split personalities go hand in hand.. the selected memory helps keep the cult personality happy and gleaming no matter what damage the suppression does to the real human or the real human's family and friends.. a couple of years ago i was talking about my childhood with my parents and they both acted stunned when i said i was still angry with them because they didn't want me to go to college (i gave up several scholarship offers, etc.
to become a pioneer and eventually go to bethel).
Welcome back joelbear woohoo! I'm so glad you changed your mind.
