So my question would be is what is so special about the FDS? They and all the annointed get the same reward. While there is no explanation on how they get appointed over the belongings on earth while they are in heaven, or the fact that they already own and control all of the earthly belongings anyway.

I sort of posted this in another thread. The fds gets appointed over jesus belongings when they receive their heavenly reward, and this includes the messianic kingdom. Since the fds is only eight guys, they are the only ones now ruling in heaven? What about the rest of the anointed that are not fds? Maybe they become a heavenly great crowd and the actual fds become the heavenly little flock? The earthly little flock become given ones and the earthly great crowd is the rest of us schleps? But seriously what now?

Perhaps I missed this already but if they get appointed over the belongings at the great tribulation, this ONLY applies to the governing body at that time? So it would only apply to eight guys who would then go to heaven. Would this also apply to those who served on the governing body in the past?

I think very few will realize the changes. Most witnesses don't know what they believe when it comes to these details. They know paradise, God, Jesus, no hell, but it ends there. All this stuff is actually meaningless to almost all witnesses. They could change it 100 times and no one will care.

Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT false prophets
by SloppyJoe intonight on the service meeting we discussed why jws are not false prophets.
of the ten minute part two were spent discussing that jws just had wrong expectations and only very minor changes over the years although nothing specific was mentioned.
the other eight focused on the core bible truths that have remained the same over the years.

MP it is impossible to show them how wrong they are unfortunately. Another comment tonight was that we should be giving all glory to Jehovah and his organization. No one blinked with the thought of giving an organization the same glory that we should give God might be incorrect.

According to the logic, there is no such thing as a false prophet, just many people over human history that had wrong expectations.
Problem solved!

NINE REVERSALS IN JULY 15TH WATCHTOWER
by The Searcher inhere's what i scavenged from the most notable watchtower i've ever read.
it may be far more significant than many people realise!.
and before anyone whinges that one or two are 'old light', the fact remains that all of them are rejecting what was once 'inspired truth' from the revered fds, and disagreeing with any one of these (now current) falsehoods would have resulted in your "stoning to death" and shunning by all whom you loved.

As someone who goes to the meetings still very regularly, there will really be no repercussions for changing these teachings. The WTBTS is a different organization from 20 years ago. Most witnesses were born in or have come in within the last 20 years have no idea about failed predictions and changed doctrines about a "generation". They are a group of people who come to the meetings, go out and service and live on with their life. I have talked to a few people about this upcoming watchtower and so far NO ONE and I mean NO ONE even knew what the teachings were before this watchtower was printed. So it will probably end up being a boring couple weeks of watchtower study for them as they will day dream not understanding what is really even being said or changed. If anyone still has to go to meetings like I do, you can already pick out who the people will be that answer over and over when these are studied on a sunday. A few elders, a couple of die hard know the truth through and through and LOVE when there is an adjustment. Business as usual.

I read CofC but have never read In search of christian freedom. I read the book when I was probably 18 or 19. I really don't remember a whole lot about the book because I grew up with the Internet and had read most things that were in his book already. The one thing that did stand out to me was that in 1983 there is a part where he talks about the generations teaching and stating how they were eventually going to have to change it. That part really opened my eye that the evil apostate that satan controlled wrote about a core doctrine at the time and how it was wrong. How did HE know? Was it Satan that wanted him to tell the truth? Well of course not, it was at that moment I knew that I no longer had to worry myself with destruction or absolute obedience to the "society". Did love the book though.
Second topic, anyone notice that the term "society" is not used anymore but the term "the branch" has taken its place?
