This is likely the most significant development ever in opposition to the Society. It's bigger than Dateline, and bigger than the individual cases before it, because it destroys their prime defenses. It's a bad day to be in charge of a cult.

Disgusting comment regarding the baptism at the DC
by under_believer inat the service meeting the other day the "friends" were given an opportunity to discuss the district convention (portland, or, june 30-july 2).
) people baptized at that convention.
a bigger number than i remember for at least a decade.

It's been that way for a long time. Almost everyone baptized is a child of a JW. There are very few converts anymore. And, as for age, the sooner they get their hooks in them, the better their chance in coercing them to stay.

Why did vegetarian Abel tend a "flock" on a tropical earth?
by M.J. in.
abel tended a "flock", which could have included sheep, goats, and/or small cattle according to the strongs word usage.. yet people weren't supposed to eat meat until god gave the go-ahead to noah, says the wts.. the earth was totally warm before the flood according to the wts, so tending sheep just for its wool would seem a little pointless.. it seems as if abel would have needed to live off of cain's crops, while he spent all his time hanging out with a pretty much useless flock.
no wonder cain was a bit surly.. what do you think?

As for keeping sheep for meat and leather, don't forget that with a world population of 4, this group would surely be at the hunter/gatherer phase of development. Meat and leather can much more easily be obtained by hunting (especially in a world with only 4 human predators) than by raising them.
The story itself is a sentimental lament by the nomadic shepherds and herdsmen, complaining about how they were being pushed out by agriculture. Notice that the shepherd was the good guy, but the farmer was the bad guy. The story dates many, many, centuries later than the bible credits it. -

Well let's think about this. The entire world population consisted of Cain, Abel, Mom, and Dad. No women. Abel is preocupied with his sheep. I will say no more.

Napa Valley, CA Child Abuse Court Case Victories
by AndersonsInfo innapa wt child abuse case.
two important court decisions, which came out of napa valley, ca, are now available for us to post on jwd.
these significant rulings overturn objections regularly made by the watchtower in recent lawsuits and may serve as a precedent for future lawsuits.

Now, this is interesting and big news.
I find it ironic that the very method that the WT used to protect their assets (retaining HQ ownership of all kingdom halls), is the very method that can string them up by proving a physical presence in every jurisdiction. -

About half the DF's go back? Really?
by AuldSoul inj.r. brown said about half the df's go back.
i know some who went back and promptly faded, some who went back and were "bt" jws (barely there), a few who went back and quickly got df'd again usually before they even got privileges back.. but the one that takes the cake (in my opinion) is the former po of my parent's congregation who had been giving dc parts for years getting disfellowshipped a couple of months after giving the rousing talk, "abhor what is wicked, cling to what is good.
" only after his reinstatement did i discover that was his third df.

DFing is a traumatic experience, and it wouldn't surprise me if a significant number return, at least for a while.
The point, however, is that many of the ones who are truly determined to get out never get dfed. They simply piss on the whole system by walking away and never looking back. So, while it is possible that half of dfed ones go back, I would bet that 90% of the total number who get out, never look back. -

Time is their enemy
by LDH intick, tick, tick.. the governing body is dying one by one, faster now.. young people who thought they would never see themselves getting old now take meds for cholesterol, alzheimers, diabetes, blood pressure.. the end isn't here.. tick, tick, tick.. kids who walked away from the wt after being warned that they would die like a dog in the streets instead are very successful young people with real jobs, families, and assets.. empty threats stop having an effect.
apathy sets in.
automatons attend the meetings.

Very good point.
Even when I was still a loyal JW, I would always pause and think every new year's eve. The generation is one year older. The time of the end is one year further along. It can't last much longer. One of these years, the camel's back will break. Eventually it did, for me. -
