Absolutely agree cantleave. I didn't realise you we're outed on here. I really can't go into detail here as everything is way too specific. There was nothing that would surprise any one long in the tooth but it really reinforced the hierarchy of the organisation, lack of common sense and how the moral compass of those "taking the lead" is driven by technicalities and legalism as opposed to genuine love.

Field Service Requirements
by DATA-DOG inhas there ever been any official letters stating the amount of field service required to be considered exemplary?
usually the number given is 10hrs, but if you look up " 10 hours " in the cd-library you get 14 hits.
none from the bible of course, and only 3-5 are related to field service.

I can see the 40+ year old references to 10 hours. I get the gilead application form question. Regardless I have NEVER seen an official document saying that elders and ministerial servants must be doing the congregation or country average. Congregation averages were stopped as published figures over 40 years ago. The country average has not been in the KM for months, if not years. The OM book simply says "take the lead". Oh, and God forbid, anyone actually look in the Bible to see what the requirements are scripturally.
Of course low FS hours will probably discount someone from demonstrating they are "taking the lead" but to take an arbitrary statistic as the baseline is unscriptural and stupid. The whole concept is built on commitment to quantity, not quality. There is no emphasis on the need to build up love and mercy, a feeling of serving as opposed to becoming the masters of others' faith.
Not only that but it's a moving goalpost. Is it cong avg or country avg, do you count family study hours, what allowance do you make for sickness etc etc.
The real sheep know who is taking the lead and they don't need to see a report card to work it out.

Would Elders You Knew Have Ordered Stonings If They Could Have?
by Cold Steel infor those of you who used to be jws, or who are active, if the society was in charge of the earth, how many people do you think you would have seen stoned during your lifetimes?
i realize some elders can be zealous about their work, but if they'd actually had administrative authority to have kh members stoned to death, how many elders did you know who would have been zealous enough to really order them?.
did you know any elders who would have ordered stonings, even if the condemned people had been willing to repent?.

I've not got the quote to hand but there was a WT article a while back re how to treat DFed children and it used the example of how, under the mosaic law, parents would have to stone "wicked" children. It was basically saying that if that's what parents had to do back then then parents today should do the same in the way of a spiritual "stoning" and completely blank their DFed kids.
To answer the question I think there are elders who would stone ones if they could.
