have jws pinched anything other than family worship from the mormons?.
could we see jws implement a type of meeting structure similar to the mormons to try and engage different ages in different ways?.
could we ever see a jw feel free to do anything like...?.

all the files from my business of 8 years have been corrupted.. .
can someone help my before i throw myself off a bridge?
i live in london..
Cryptolocker is a bitch.
If your files have been corrupted (encrypted actually) then the best you can hope for is to be able to go to backups.
I don't use Skydrive so I don't know the details but doesn't it keep 25 versions? If so then there should be a previous version on there before the encryption took place.
evening.
i have it from 1st hand (or second) that a circuit overseer who gave a talk at twickenham in august 2013 has been disfellowshipped.. .
my dilemma?
Yup - I posted about a CO I knew of in the thread Besty mentions. I still don't know any more about this as when I have tried to the raise the matter with the Elder who originally told me he has made it quite clear he does not want to talk about. I don't see him that often so have not been able to push things further.
have you heard what the "big announcement" is to be this week.
supposedly the bethel homes will get some announcement today and the congregations will announce the new something by the end of the week..
Excitement x Secrecy x Time-before-announcement + Sisters Gossip = the shittier and meaningless THE "announcement" is.
Love it.
we are in the year 2014, women make up the majority of the jw population, yet are not given certain '''''''privileges''''''' simply because they don't have a penis.
no talks, no leadership roles or the hope of them...ever, no matter how educated, zealous, or well spoken you are.. with the world moving towards upholiding women's rights do you see this becoming an issue that the watchtower will have to 'adjust it's thinking' on soon?.
Will they have to change on the basis of external pressure? Unlikely. Even in France and Belgium where they have banned the Burqa there is little appetite to dictate what roles females should have in a given religion.
The WTS has promoted enough propoganda based on Prov 31 to placate most of the R&F into submission.
The only thing I can see prompting any kind of change is if the drain of men from responsible positions in the congregation becomes so severe that they simply have to address it by recruiting women into supporting roles in the congregation. It would be a bit like the role of women in war time Britain. Not good enough for the factories, farms and male dominated jobs in peace time but in war - well needs must.
So we may (and I stress may) see women recruited into a kind of mini-ministerial servant but don't hold your breath for women elders and women presenting public talks.
this isnt a slight against any here who have married more than once.
and of course if you have left the religion you are not bound by their doctrines.. however i am concerned with jehovahs witnesses, people in good standing within the congregation who have married multiple times , and it seems it is not a rare occurence .their seems to be many who have married 2 or 3 times.
i personally knew a sister that was married 5 times and was a sister in good standing .admittedly this may have been an exception .. however divorce is not an isolated incidence with jehovahs witnesses , nor is it isolated that the witnesses themselves initiate divorce proceedings .. another thing , jehovahs witnesses are only 8 million world, a wide a small sect compared to other major religions.. so i just wonder what the ratio of jw`s compared to mainstream religion is regarding divorce .. can anybody fill in these figures ?
this was covered a little on another thread and interested me.
i have always been convinced einstien believed in god.
i assumed what i had learned was correct and never thought i was taught something wrong.. i have seen some points posters have made.
Sorry - I should at least contribute something that tries to move things on....
Surely the point has been made over and over again now that whatever Einstein believed we can be sure it was not that a Judeo-Christian god was sitting up in the sky making the things that he did not understand happen.
We can be sure, can we not, that Einstein's desire to investigate and research the world with an open and scientific mind was never compromised by some deference to the supernatural.
I don't believe there is any rationale for assuming that when faced with the inevitiable questions his own answers raised he did not revert to a "god of the gaps" position.
The critical outcome of this is it is a complete fallacy to even attempt to use Einstein and his beliefs as a basis for promoting clearly irrational and unscientific postulations.

I agree.
i had a music album by a gay guy before i was a jw and had no problem listening to it.
it's good music.
some of the lyrics are what you might call 'gay', that is there's some talk about boyfriends, gay bars, and queens and the intolerance the artist encountered as a gay man.
The weird thing is if their is a movie with two women getting it off/ on it does not sicken me , but can be a turn on. I find that weird .
In surveys, 100% of straight men when asked if they got turned on by lesbian sex said yes.
It aint that wierd.
I made the statistic up of course, but I reckon if you substitute the word "porn" for "sex" then asked guys if they got turned on then your answer would be like the masturbation one - a minority would admit it, the rest would be lying.
