Remember, he is just a man. He only has power over you if you let him and being an elder he'll be quick to assume that power. Don't give it to him. Say a prayer to the God of your understanding, the Universe, Source, whatever. Ask for strength, courage and calmness. Also ask for the right words to say. This sounds silly but I swear it helps. It will be okay and it is your house. You can ask him to leave whenevery YOU want to. Don't let him over stay his welcome. Much love to you.

What were your favorite assembly foods?
by NoRegrets inso i'm young enough to not remember having hot prepared meals at assemblies, but heard all about it from my parents and the like.
but what i do remember were all of the cold sandwiches and institutional snacks and soda.

In Janesville, WI we had really great food. The chili was awesome and in the mornings you could get a ton of different breakfast foods that included pancakes and waffles with fruit and whip cream. That was in the 80's.

My heart goes out to you. This is a common situation but never easy. The big problem with this is that guilt is already being used to begin control. I mean if you make Jehovah feel bad then you've really done something wrong, if God himself is mad at you then you must be bad and deserving punishment of some kind. Even if it is for a meaningless word. This is where it starts. As their parent you have equal rights in your kids being brought up how "you" see fit too. If they don't want to go to the meeting, say well they can stay home with me. Your wife may be angry but it then will become your kids choice of whether or not they will be JW's in the future. I do like the idea of using the bible scriptures to make your point. If you handle it with love and true concern then your wife won't have a real reason to become angry and you'll have a better chance. I truly hope it goes easier than expected.

The Resurrection - Gender-less Humans or Spirit Beings?
by Badfish in"in the resurrection neither do men marry nor are women given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven.
" (mathew 22:30).
also, what about their offspring?

I never got the whole sexless angels being so horny that they leave heaven to mate with women either. I remember being a kid and looking at the pic in My Book of Bible Stories and getting mad. Why do they get to come down an trick humans? Why are they only after the women? Why the hell do they get to live with women for soooo many years as to raise children "Nephilim" into adult hood and THEN after all this Jehovah notices and says now I'm going to bring a great flood and destroy all the wicked humans. Meanwhile the angels get to escape and go back to spirit form while the humans who were tricked have to die.
So since it worked out so well the first time when the angels tricked us, now they are banished to Earth and we are stuck with them and they are ALLOWED to keep messing with our lives and we are none the wiser. But if we want to draw close to God then we have to always be on high alert because Satan and his angels are always trying to get people, especially JW's who are the chosen. Be like Job! Uggh!

I couldn't read the whole thing but what I read made me sick to my stomach. How do people even come up with these ideas?! How do you look at a little kid and think of them sexually or as food. WTF makes these people so damn sick? And you think about all the kids who have never even been found or reported missing. How many lives throughout history have been taken by such absolute evil.

I've read a number of posts here and you know we all wish there was an easy answer. I really feel for what you're going through. I was one of those young kids who was VERY enthusiastic and I agree that her "coaching" could be exclusive to the talks at the KH. Now I'm not suggesting on arguing with a 5 year old but I would definitely not let this go and see what happens. The older she gets the more she'll stick to this thinking. One of the most dangerous things that kids in the congregation don't always get is critical thinking and it is so important to develop this at an early age. She's your daughter too and I wouldn't let your wife dictate everything that she learns. Kids are so much smarter than most adults give them credit for and I would guarantee that she thinks about this topic on her own as well.
Big hugs

DO THREE ELDER'S MEAN IT IS JUDICIAL?!?
by DATA-DOG ini have a friend who met with a couple of elders recently and i was told things went well, no issues.
well a couple weeks later they stopped by my friends place, ( just to say hi ) right before they left they said, " hey can we meet again?
my friend said, " sure ".

Oh okay, that's cool and an interesting approach. However, with that type of thinking it goes against one of the key elements of JW thinking so he'll probably either have to change his thinking and be "meek" (i.e. fall into line) or he'll get into trouble.

When you say that your friend has started to partake, do you mean as an annointed member?

What would be the standing of a born-in who were always there (field work and all) but never baptized?
by dgp inthis may be an elementary question but i was never a jw.. i wonder if such a person can actually exist.. i assume a born-in knows basically all about jehovah's-witnesses by the time he is, say, 16. if he were to postpone baptism, this person would not be in the same situation as a worldly who doesn't know an iota of anything, but would not be a brother, either.
what would be his real standing?.

Thanks Silence. I'm sorry for your loss too. My two blood related brothers got married and I was invited to the weddings and wasn't allowed to go to one of their receptions. Then my step sister was married and I wasn't invited at all. I could almost understand if I was really an immoral person or someone who caused a lot of disruption but as a mild mannered, kind person it basically just makes you angry and hurt.
At my younger brothers wedding my mom, step dad and I went together and we were only allowed at the wedding and then for a personal photo shoot while everyone else waited really far away from us. My mom had been disfellowshipped over twenty years ago and she never went back so she's still bad of course. But anyway, the elder who married my brother and his wife was her father. I don't really know him but you could tell that he's a very strict person. After we took the pictures I saw him standing far away but I made a split decision to go and introduce myself. As I cut across the grass to where he was I could see him tense up, lol, my mom followed right behind me too! He shook our hands and then nearly ran away as quick as he could, he was so rude, but I did like seeing him squirm a bit. If they want to make you feel like the lowest being on the planet then I say stick it in their faces rather than give them the satisfaction of being morally superior.
